Evaluation of Support to Report Pilot Advocacy Service: Summary Report
This summary report details the findings of an evaluation of the Support to Report (S2R) pilot advocacy service. The service was introduced to provide support to victims/survivors of rape at the initial stages of reporting to the police, and is the first of its kind in Scotland. The primary purpose of the evaluation was to monitor the implementation of the pilot service, and assess progress against objectives

A Tendency of Mind-Rewriting the Story: An Exploration of Later-Life Career Transition
As life expectancy rates continue to rise, so does the need for continued participation in the workforce. Economic sustainability and aging in place become values anticipated and realized through longer life spans. The ability to maintain lifestyle is severely halted when individuals are faced with loss of employment. This qualitative case study was created to delve into how individuals separated from the workforce after the age of 50, re-gain employment. The foundation of this study was couched on the following assumptions: (1) the older/later-life displaced worker will have developed/learned a set of competencies comprised of attitudes behaviors and skills underpinning ventures of re-engagement into the workforce; (2) workforce re-engagement can sustain livelihoods for later-life displaced workers; (3) older/later-life displaced workers have found self-sustaining opportunities through re-engagement pathways that have allowed them to continue to contribute to their communities.
Twelve individuals over the age of 50 representing eight states, and various careers participated in the study. The principal data sources were in-depth interviews and a focus group.
Although, the study was designed to explore workforce re-entry for displaced workers over the age of 50, the key finding that transitioning to employment pathways differing from previous careers, emerged as most challenging. In addition, post separation perceptions yielded thematic elements concerning pluralistic ageism on the separation from, and the re-entry into the workforce.
Primary recommendations include the communication and viable training and re-tooling prior to workforce separation, comprehensive counseling, and awareness of legislative workforce rights, all of which should be disseminated with greater regularity
Historical Ecology as a Research Program
Modern evolutionary biology is the descendant of two theories proposed by Darwin. First, all organisms are connected by common genealogy, and second, the form and function of organisms is closely tied to the environments in which they live. Of these two theories, the role of the first (phylogeny) in evolutionary explanations has been diminishing in some fields, most notably in ecology and ethology. However, the last ten years have witnessed the beginning of a reversal in this trend. With increasing frequency, ecologists (Wanntorp et aI., 1990; Maurer and Brooks, submitted), ethologists (Dobson, 1985; Huey and Bennett, 1987; Mclennan et aI., 1988), functional morphologists (Lauder, 1982), and other evolutionary biologists (Ridley, 1983; Clutton-Brock and Harvey, 1984; Endler and McLellan, 1988) are accepting the proposition that some innovations that arose in the past have been integrated into the phenotype and function today as constraints on the evolution of other characters

Resources for Workplace Diversity: An Annotated Practitioner Guide to Information
[Excerpt] We are pleased to offer this updated edition of Resources for Workplace Diversity: An Annotated Practitioner Guide to Information, a unique offering of The Workplace Diversity Network. Our goal is to assemble a selected, annotated list of compelling and useful resources available to help diversity practitioners create organizations that are diverse and productive. As a working group, we agreed that useful resources would include newly published books as well as historic, seminal works that provide insight and illumination irrelevant of their age. In the updated edition, we’ve expanded existing sections, added new ones and referenced online access where possible. Designed with practitioner needs in mind, Resources for Workplace Diversity is meant to be an evolving document, one that will grow according to the needs and recommendations of its users. To capture the advantage of networking, we invite you to suggest additional resources that you have found to be valuable
Urban Candy: Screens, Selfies and Imaginings
"The essays in this book chart how women’s profound and turbulent experiences of migration have been articulated in writing, photography, art and film. As a whole, the volume gives an impression of a wide range of migratory events from women’s perspectives, covering the Caribbean Diaspora, refugees and slavery through the various lenses of politics and war, love and family. The contributors, which include academics and artists, offer both personal and critical points of view on the artistic and historical repositories of these experiences. Selfies, motherhood, violence and Hollywood all feature in this substantial treasure-trove of women’s joy and suffering, disaster and delight, place, memory and identity. This collection appeals to artists and scholars of the humanities, particularly within the social sciences; though there is much to recommend it to creatives seeking inspiration or counsel on the issue of migratory experiences.

Comprehensive Determination of the Hinode/EIS Roll Angle
We present a new coalignment method for the EUV Imaging Spectrometer (EIS) on
board the Hinode spacecraft. In addition to the pointing offset and spacecraft
jitter, this method determines the roll angle of the instrument, which has
never been systematically measured, and is therefore usually not corrected. The
optimal pointing for EIS is computed by maximizing the cross-correlations of
the Fe XII 195.119 \r{A} line with images from the 193 \r{A} band of the
Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory
(SDO). By coaligning 3336 rasters with high signal-to-noise ratio, we estimate
the rotation angle between EIS and AIA and explore the distribution of its
values. We report an average value of (-0.387 0.007)\deg. We also provide
a software implementation of this method that can be used to coalign any EIS
raster.Comment: Accepted for publication in Solar Physics, 11 pages, 7 figure
Evaluation of the Rape Crisis Scotland National Advocacy Project
This is the final report detailing findings from the evaluation of Rape Crisis Scotland’s National Advocacy Project (NAP). It draws upon data gathered since the launch of the NAP in February 2016 to the end of August 2017. Findings are presented in three main sections: key national stakeholder perspectives; survivor data and perspectives; and practitioner perspectives. Key themes and learning points from the evaluation findings and recommendations for future policy and practice are then identified. A shorter executive summary of this report has also been made available for use as a policy and practice briefing
