Complete boundedness of the Heat Semigroups on the von Neumann Algebra of hyperbolic groups
We prove that defines a
completely bounded semigroup of multipliers on the von Neuman algebra of
hyperbolic groups for all real number . One ingredient in the proof is the
observation that a construction of Ozawa allows to characterize the radial
multipliers that are bounded on every hyperbolic graph, partially generalizing
results of Haagerup--Steenstrup--Szwarc and Wysocza\'nski. Another ingredient
is an upper estimate of trace class norms for Hankel matrices, which is based
on Peller's characterization of such norms.Comment: v2: 28 pages, with new examples, new results, motivations and

Adjacent Graph Based Vulnerability Assessment for Electrical Networks Considering Fault Adjacent Relationships Among Branches
Security issues related to vulnerability assessment in electrical networks are necessary for operators to identify the critical branches. At present, using complex network theory to assess the structural vulnerability of the electrical network is a popular method. However, the complex network theory cannot be comprehensively applicable to the operational vulnerability assessment of the electrical network because the network operation is closely dependent on the physical rules not only on the topological structure. To overcome the problem, an adjacent graph (AG) considering the topological, physical, and operational features of the electrical network is constructed to replace the original network. Through the AG, a branch importance index that considers both the importance of a branch and the fault adjacent relationships among branches is constructed to evaluate the electrical network vulnerability. The IEEE 118-bus system and the French grid are employed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant U1734202National Key Research and Development Plan of China under Grant 2017YFB1200802-12National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 51877181National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 61703345Chinese Academy of Sciences, under Grant 2018-2019-0
Theory of time-resolved spectral function in high-temperature superconductors with bosonic modes
We develop a three-temperature model to simulate the time dependence of
electron and phonon temperatures in high-temperature superconductors displaying
strong anistropic electron-phonon coupling. This model not only takes the
tight-binding band structure into account, but also is valid in superconducting
state. Based on this model, we calculate the time-resolved spectral function
via the double-time Green's functions. We find that the dip-hump structure
evolves with the time delay. More interestingly, new phononic structures are
obtained when the phonons are excited by a laser field. This signature may
serve as a direct evidence for electron-vibration mode coupling.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Modeling Fault Propagation Paths in Power Systems: A New Framework Based on Event SNP Systems With Neurotransmitter Concentration
To reveal fault propagation paths is one of the most critical studies for the analysis of
power system security; however, it is rather dif cult. This paper proposes a new framework for the fault
propagation path modeling method of power systems based on membrane computing. We rst model the fault
propagation paths by proposing the event spiking neural P systems (Ev-SNP systems) with neurotransmitter
concentration, which can intuitively reveal the fault propagation path due to the ability of its graphics models
and parallel knowledge reasoning. The neurotransmitter concentration is used to represent the probability
and gravity degree of fault propagation among synapses. Then, to reduce the dimension of the Ev-SNP
system and make them suitable for large-scale power systems, we propose a model reduction method
for the Ev-SNP system and devise its simpli ed model by constructing single-input and single-output
neurons, called reduction-SNP system (RSNP system). Moreover, we apply the RSNP system to the IEEE
14- and 118-bus systems to study their fault propagation paths. The proposed approach rst extends the
SNP systems to a large-scaled application in critical infrastructures from a single element to a system-wise
investigation as well as from the post-ante fault diagnosis to a new ex-ante fault propagation path prediction,
and the simulation results show a new success and promising approach to the engineering domain
Distributed Event-Triggered Control for Asymptotic Synchronization of Dynamical Networks
This paper studies synchronization of dynamical networks with event-based
communication. Firstly, two estimators are introduced into each node, one to
estimate its own state, and the other to estimate the average state of its
neighbours. Then, with these two estimators, a distributed event-triggering
rule (ETR) with a dwell time is designed such that the network achieves
synchronization asymptotically with no Zeno behaviours. The designed ETR only
depends on the information that each node can obtain, and thus can be
implemented in a decentralized way.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figues, 1 tabl
Minimalist AdaBoost for blemish identification in potatoes
We present a multi-class solution based on minimalist Ad-
aBoost for identifying blemishes present in visual images of potatoes.
Using training examples we use Real AdaBoost to rst reduce the fea-
ture set by selecting ve features for each class, then train binary clas-
siers for each class, classifying each testing example according to the
binary classier with the highest certainty. Against hand-drawn ground
truth data we achieve a pixel match of 83% accuracy in white potatoes
and 82% in red potatoes. For the task of identifying which blemishes
are present in each potato within typical industry dened criteria (10%
coverage) we achieve accuracy rates of 93% and 94%, respectively
Time tracking of different cropping patterns using Landsat images under different agricultural systems during 1990-2050 in Cold China
Rapid cropland reclamation is underway in Cold China in response to increases in food demand, while the lack analyses of time series cropping pattern mappings limits our understanding of the acute transformation process of cropland structure and associated environmental effects. The Cold China contains different agricultural systems (state and private farming), and such systems could lead to different cropping patterns. So far, such changes have not been revealed yet. Based on the Landsat images, this study tracked cropping information in five-year increments (1990-1995, 1995-2000, 2000-2005, 2005-2010, and 2010-2015) and predicted future patterns for the period of 2020-2050 under different agricultural systems using developed method for determining cropland patterns. The following results were obtained: The available time series of Landsat images in Cold China met the requirements for long-term cropping pattern studies, and the developed method exhibited high accuracy (over 91%) and obtained precise spatial information. A new satellite evidence was observed that cropping patterns significantly differed between the two farm types, with paddy field in state farming expanding at a faster rate (from 2.66 to 68.56%) than those in private farming (from 10.12 to 34.98%). More than 70% of paddy expansion was attributed to the transformation of upland crop in each period at the pixel level, which led to a greater loss of upland crop in state farming than private farming (9505.66 km(2) vs. 2840.29 km(2)) during 1990-2015. Rapid cropland reclamation is projected to stagnate in 2020, while paddy expansion will continue until 2040 primarily in private farming in Cold China. This study provides new evidence for different land use change pattern mechanisms between different agricultural systems, and the results have significant implications for understanding and guiding agricultural system development
Hierarchical Wave Functions Revisited
We study the hierarchical wave functions on a sphere and on a torus. We
simplify some wave functions on a sphere or a torus using the analytic
properties of wave functions. The open question, the construction of the wave
function for quasielectron excitations on a torus, is also solved in this
paper.Comment: 28 pages, Late
