In 1977, during a TV interview, Cortázar stated that his book Los reyes appeared in his mind all of a sudden, as if an archetypal memory was surfacing to consciousness. Like a lightning bolt, what he considered to be the real interpretation of the myth of the Minotaur and his labyrinth appeared to him: the story of the monster being killed by the hero was substituted by a picture of the poet being excluded from and imprisoned by power. Moving away from Cortázar’s explanation of his own work, the current paper provides an interpretation of Los reyes that takes into account its historical and political context

The role of taxanes in triple-negative breast cancer: literature review

    Get PDF
Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent tumor worldwide. Triple-negative BCs are characterized by the negative estrogen and progesterone receptors and negative HER2, and represent 15% of all BCs. In this review, data on the use of taxanes in triple-negative BCs are analyzed, concluding they are effective in any clinical setting (neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and metastatic). Further, the role of nab-paclitaxel (formulation of albumin-bound paclitaxel) in these tumors is also evaluated. The available data show the clinical potential of nab-paclitaxel based combinations in terms of long-duration response, increased survival, and better quality of life of patients with triple-negative metastatic BC. The ongoing trials will give further information on the better management of this type of tumor

This paper aims to analyse the original version and the subtitled peninsular Spanish version of the 3D animation feature Metegol (2013) by the Oscar winner and film director Juan José Campanella. Considering as a starting point the results achieved in a previous analysis, in which the original version in the Spanish variety of Argentina was compared with the dubbed peninsular Spanish and neutral Spanish versions (Author, 2021), the aim of this contribution is to identify how the strategies used in intralinguistic subtitling (Berruto, 2010; Pedersen, 2005) contribute to the achievement of a proper level of sociolinguistic adequacy. Furthermore, the present investigation also considers the function of some relevant elements from different perspectives of variation (diatopic, diaphasic and diastratic), the way these elements are interpreted and perceived by the receiving audience and the distinguishing features of this type of audiovisual translation

The historical catalogue of a publisher facing the digital

    Get PDF
A publisher’s historical catalogue is an important document for many reasons. Above all, it represents a source for studies in the history of culture. Today a publisher’s catalogue, whether historical or contemporary, must inevitably make use of electronic format so that it can still be consulted by users or readers. All publishers have their own websites, and some of the most famous names manage the historical part of their companies directly. The digital environment, in brief, has made a publisher’s titles immediately available as a real-time ‘list’, as exemplified by the OPACs of libraries for the preservation and use of precious bibliographical collections. These developments have led to a reflection on how the historical catalogues of former times are still useful and how their compilation methods may be helpful for electronic databases

"EL MINISTERIO DEL TIEMPO: VERSIONI SOTTOTITOLATE A CONFRONTO"

    Get PDF

Environmental sustainability assessment of the primary school catering sector

Current food production and consumption practices are depleting natural resources and polluting ecosystems at a rate that is unsustainable and are one of the main causes of anthropogenic climate change. If this trend does not change, externalities of food production will be exacerbated in future decades due to population growth and increasing living standards. A shift towards low impact diets has been proposed as part of the solution. The public food sector offers tremendous potential for influencing such a shift; however currently in the UK this potential is only partially exploited as national guidelines for public food procurement avoid promoting the adoption of low impact menus. This doctoral research aims at addressing this shortfall by creating a procedure for the design of low impact primary school menus. This is informed by a life-cycle based tool (the Environmental Assessment Tool of School meals, EATS) that enables catering companies and local authorities to self-assess the environmental impact of a meal in terms of its carbon and water footprint, with the purpose of identifying hotspot meals and comparing alternatives in the design of new menus. The data underlying EATS includes the results of a meta-analysis of the existing literature on the carbon footprint of 110 food products commonly used in the preparation of primary school meals in the UK. To validate EATS, a statistical analysis of the underlying data was performed, feedback from its potential users was collected, three case study analyses were developed, and the results provided were compared with existing studies

IL PRINCIPE DI DANIMARCA PARLA SPAGNOLO. GIOCHI DI PAROLE E SOLUZIONI TRADUTTIVE

    Get PDF
