Studio di applicabilità di catalizzatori magnetici a base di palladio a reazioni di formazione di legami carbonio-carbonio

    Get PDF
Questo lavoro di testi vuole dimostrare la possibilità di applicazione in reazioni di coupling C-C di catalizzatori innovativi a base di Palladio su ossidi di Ferro aventi proprietà magnetiche ed un loro eventuale recupero e riciclo. Le reazioni studiate saranno un'arilazione di un imidazolo, una Suzuki, una Heck ed una Cassar-Heck prese come esempio dalla letteratura

Physics of ultra-peripheral collisions with ALICE at the LHC

    Get PDF
The photoproduction of vector mesons in ultra-peripheral collisions (UPC) is a powerful tool to probe the nuclear gluon distribution (Pb-Pb collisions) and the gluon structure function in the proton (p-Pb collisions). The first measurements of coherent photoproduced J/ψ and ψ(2S) in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76TeV, performed with the ALICE detector, are reported and compared to STARLIGHT and QCD based models, in order to investigate nuclear gluon shadowing. The first results of the measurement of exclusive J/ψ photoproduction off protons in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV performed by the ALICE Collaboration are also mentioned

Inclusive W and Z production at LHC startup with the CMS experiment

W and Z candidates decaying into leptons can be observed in the very early phase of the LHC run. The results for the W/Z production presented are obtained for 10TeV simulated data and are fully valid for 7TeV center-of-mass energy (via a scale factor of the W and Z signals around 0.7)

Search for a Standard Model Higgs boson decaying to b quarks and produced in association with Z/W bosons with the CMS detector

A search for the standard model Higgs boson is performed in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.1 fb1^{-1}, recorded by the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC with a 7 TeV center-of-mass energy. The following modes are studied: W(μν\mu \nu)H, W(eν\nu)H, Z(μμ\mu \mu)H, Z(ee)H and Z(νν\nu \nu)H, with the Higgs decaying to bb pairs. 95% C.L. upper limits on the VH production cross section are derived for a Higgs mass between 110 and 135 GeV. The expected (observed) upper limit at 115 GeV is found to be 5.7 (8.3) times the standard model expectation.Comment: Presented at the 2011 Hadron Collider Physics symposium (HCP-2011), Paris, France, November 14-18 2011, 4 pages, 3 figure

The First Catholic Bible in Chinese: Gabriele Allegra and His Translation

Abstract Christian missionaries play an important role in the history of the relationship between China and Europe. Their presence in China has been widely explored, but little attention has been paid to the role played by the Bible in their preaching. From 13th to 19th century, although they did not translate the Bible, Catholic missionaries preached the Gospel orally or with catechisms. On the other hand, the Protestant missionaries had published many version of the Chinese Bible throughout the 19th century. It was only in the 20th century that the Franciscan friar Gabriele Allegra decided to go to China as a missionary to translate the Holy Scriptures into Chinese. He arrived in China in 1931 and translated from 1935 to 1961. He also founded a biblical study centre to prepare expert scholars to collaborate in the Bible translation. Allegra and his colleagues completed the translation in 1961, and the first complete single-volume Catholic Bible in Chinese was published in 1968. After presenting the historical background of Allegra's activity, a textual analysis of some passages of his translation will be presented, emphasizing the meanings of the Chinese words he chose to use to translate particular elements of Christian terminology. This study will verify the closeness of the work by Allegra to the original Greek text and the validity of some particular translation choices

Measurement of W, Z and Top properties with CMS

    Get PDF
We present several measurements in the domain of electroweak and top physics in proton-proton collisions at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV. We use data collected with the CMS experiment during the year 2010, and amounting up to a total integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1. Measurements include total cross section productions, asymmetries, top mass measurements and focus on final states with the presence of charged leptons. The results are compared with theory predictions

Study the effect of beam energy spread and detector resolution on the search for Higgs boson decays to invisible particles at a future e+^+e^- circular collider

    Get PDF
We study the expected sensitivity to measure the branching ratio of Higgs boson decays to invisible particles at a future circular \epem collider (FCC-ee) in the process e+eHZe^+e^-\to HZ with Z+Z\to \ell^+\ell^- (=e\ell=e or μ\mu) using an integrated luminosity of 3.5 ab1^{-1} at a center-of-mass energy s=240\sqrt{s}=240 GeV. The impact of the energy spread of the FCC-ee beam and of the resolution in the reconstruction of the leptons is discussed. %Two different detector concepts are considered: a detector corresponding to the CMS reconstruction performances and the expected design of the ILC detector. The minimum branching ratio for a 5σ5\sigma observation after 3.5ab1^{-1} of data taking is 1.7±0.1%(stat+syst)1.7\pm 0.1\%(stat+syst) . The branching ratio exclusion limit at 95\% CL is 0.63±0.22%((stat+syst))0.63 \pm 0.22\%((stat+syst)).Comment: 17 pages, submitted to EPJ
