Dunkl operators and a family of realizations of osp(1|2)

In this paper, a family of radial deformations of the realization of the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) in the theory of Dunkl operators is obtained. This leads to a Dirac operator depending on 3 parameters. Several function theoretical aspects of this operator are studied, such as the associated measure, the related Laguerre polynomials and the related Fourier transform. For special values of the parameters, it is possible to construct the kernel of the Fourier transform explicitly, as well as the related intertwining operator.Comment: 28 pages, some small changes, accepted in Trans. Spherical harmonics and integration in superspace

In this paper the classical theory of spherical harmonics in R^m is extended to superspace using techniques from Clifford analysis. After defining a super-Laplace operator and studying some basic properties of polynomial null-solutions of this operator, a new type of integration over the supersphere is introduced by exploiting the formal equivalence with an old result of Pizzetti. This integral is then used to prove orthogonality of spherical harmonics of different degree, Green-like theorems and also an extension of the important Funk-Hecke theorem to superspace. Finally, this integration over the supersphere is used to define an integral over the whole superspace and it is proven that this is equivalent with the Berezin integral, thus providing a more sound definition of the Berezin integral.Comment: 22 pages, accepted for publication in J. De Noordzee: een waardevol archief onder water. Meer dan 100 jaar onderzoek van strandvondsten en vondsten uit zee in België: een overzicht

De Noordzee kan beschouwd worden als een waardevol en speciaal archief, met heel wat interessante informatie over het verleden. De zone beneden de laagwaterlijn behoort tot het domein van de subtidale archeologie of de archeologie van het subgetijdengebied van de Noordzee. De zone tussen de hoog- en de laagwaterlijn behoort tot de intertidale archeologie of de archeologie van het intergetijdengebied van de Noordzee. In het eerste deel van deze studie wordt kort de geschiedenis van het onderzoek in deze beide zones geschetst. Daarna wordt in een tweede deel een chronologisch overzicht gegeven van de resultaten van het onderzoek en dit vanaf het ontstaan van de archeologie als wetenschappelijke discipline. In dit tweede deel wordt ook een klein aantal tot nu toe ongepubliceerde vondsten opgenomen van buiten het Belgische deel van de Noordzee. De reden hiervoor is zowel pragmatisch als inhoudelijk. Enerzijds worden deze vondsten geregistreerd samen met de andere vondsten, ze bevinden zich immers samen in de bestudeerde collecties. Anderzijds dragen ze ook inhoudelijk bij tot een beter inzicht in de genese van het hele zuidelijke Noordzeegebied, waarvan de zone onder Belgisch toezicht deel uitmaakt. Verder dienen in dit tweede deel ook een aantal vraagstellingen en onderzoeksstrategieën als basis voor de globale discussie in het derde deel van deze bijdrage. De bijdrage wordt ten slotte afgesloten met een zo volledig mogelijke bibliografie over het onderzoek in het Belgische deel van de Noordzee inclusief de stranden

Compensation for biodiversity loss: Advice to the Netherlands' Taskforce on Biodiversity and Natural Resources

Compensation of damage to biodiversity is one of the mechanisms to settle environmental costs. It concerns creating new opportunities for biodiversity, which as a minimum equals the residual impact after a company or organization has attempted to avoid, prevent and mitigate that impact. In the Netherlands, voluntary compensation of biodiversity loss is very new and under development. No legal frameworks, regulations nor formal guidelines apply. Lessons are learned from voluntary biodiversity compensation pilots. „Barriers‟ to a broad support among companies for the compensation of biodiversity loss due to their activities have to be removed. Communication, clarity on the interface with other government-driven initiatives, and financial incentives are among the required measures
