Gazing at the partner in musical trios: a mobile eye-tracking study
Few investigations into the nonverbal communication in ensemble playing have focused on gaze behaviour up to now. In this study, the gaze behaviour of musicians playing in trios was recorded using the recently developed technique of mobile eye-tracking. Four trios (clarinet, violin, piano) were recorded while rehearsing and while playing several runs through the same musical fragment. The current article reports on an initial exploration of the data in which we describe how often gazing at the partner occurred. On the one hand, we aim to identify possible contrasting cases. On the other, we look for tendencies across the run-throughs. We discuss the quantified gaze behaviour in relation to the existing literature and the current research design
Industrial and technical aspects of chip embedding technology
Embedding of semiconductor chips into organic substrates allows a very high degree of miniaturization by stacking multiple layers of embedded components, superior electrical performance by short and geometrically well controlled interconnects as well as a homogeneous mechanical environment of the chips, resulting in good reliability. At PCB manufacturing level, 50 mum thin chips have been embedded with pitches up to 200 mum in up to 18ldquotimes24rdquo panels. Embedding of chips at 100 mum pitch has been achieved at prototype level. Further developments of chip embedding can extend to even finer pitches without redistribution methods only with concurrent developments in ultra fine line patterning, plating methods and chemistries, assembly machines. New manufacturing processes should combine PCB processing and die assembly in one production line in order to benefit the most from this combination without the difficulties of transport between different manufacturing plants. Furthermore, new testing methodologies will be developed and a new supply chain will be created due to incorporation of embedding technologies to PCB production. This paper discusses in detail the technology and manufacturing challenges arisen from the integration of embedding technologies to PCB manufacturing processes
The granule size distribution in an anammox-based granular sludge reactor affects the conversion: implications for modelling
Influence of sampling strategies on the estimated nitrous oxide emission from wastewater treatment plants
Effect of granule size on autotrophic nitrogen removal in a granular sludge reactor
Autotrophic nitrogen removal through sequential partial nitritation and anammox reactions can be achieved in biofilm reactors by controlling the oxygen concentration in the bulk liquid in such a way that nitrite oxidizers are outcompeted by anammox bacteria. In the case of granular sludge reactors, the granule size may influence the optimal range of oxygen concentration, as has been confirmed in the present study by means of numerical simulations. The range of oxygen concentrations for which combined partial nitritation and anammox conversion is established becomes broader for larger particles and with increasing influent ammonium concentrations. At the same time the likelihood of nitrite accumulation in the reactor effluent also increases
