    Hurricane Risk of Multi-Family Dwellings in Puerto Rico

    Hurricanes in the North Atlantic Basin cause widespread damage to the Caribbean islands on a regular basis. Catastrophe risk models are used by insurance and reinsurance companies to estimate the average losses one could expect to buildings and property as a result of natural hazards (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, etc.). Catastrophe models contain three major components: (1) a set of possible events for each type of hazard that includes geographic footprints of their intensity (e.g., peak ground acceleration, peak 3-second wind gust); (2) a vulnerability component that links the hazard to expected damage, generally composed of a suite of "vulnerability curves" that account for site-specific building characteristics; and (3) a financial module that estimates the expected monetary losses while accounting for any applicable insurance contracts. The event sets are generated using distributions of the physical parameters of the hazard (including radius to maximum winds, peak wind speeds, minimum central pressure and forward speed for hurricanes), primarily gathered from records of historical events. The researcher was interested to apply the technique since there was in the second grade of SMPN 12 Banda Aceh the students had some problems in speaking, ranging from the difficulty of transferring the idea toward the interlocutor, lack of vocabulary, bad in pronunciation and comprehension. Moreover, the students were bored with the usual monotonous teaching, and needed more enjoyable and innovative learning. Thus, implementing a card game technique seemed to be one of the best ways in solving those several problems. The implementation of card games technique in the class resulted in some improvement. It was reflected in the difference between their pre-test score and the post-test one. Almost all of the students in that class passed the minimum passing grade score (60). Furthermore, their speaking performance also increased, the percentage of vocabulary mastery increase from 36.11 to 57.92, pronunciation increased from 4.44 to 58.33, their comprehension in speaking also enhanced from 40.27 to 55.55, fluency (30.55 - 51.38), and the impact also represented in their grammar aspect which was only gained 51.31 at the pre-test, but increased significantly into 72.22 at the post-test. Even though there was significant improvement in speaking skill by using this game technique, teacher should pay more attention in controlling the students, since there was a condition where the students would be active in responding the teaching learning process.

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pengungkapan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Return On Equity (ROE), Current Ratio (CR), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), dan pengungkapan CSR dan Kinerja Keuangan terhadap nilai perusahaan. Sampel yang dipilih menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan sampel sesuai dengan variabel penelitian. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah perusahaan perbankan yang tercatat di BEI pada periode 2014-2018. Berdasarkan kriteria pemilihan sampel diperoleh sebanyak 7 perusahaan atau 35 firm years. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CSR berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap nilai perusahaan, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa CSR yang diungkapkan tidak mempengaruhi nilai perusahaan. ROE berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap nilai perusahaan, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi nilai ROE maka semakin tinggi nilai perusahaan. CR berpengaruh negatif tidak signifikan terhadap nilai perusahaan, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa CR tidak berpengaruh terhadap nilai perusahaan.     Hasil belajar akan optimal, kalau ada motivasi. Makin tepat motivasi yang diberikan, akan makin berhasil pula pelajaran itu. Jadi motivasi akan senantiasa menentukan intensitas USAha belajar bagi para mahasiswa. Hasil studi pendahuluan di lahan praktik terutama di RSUD. A. Wahab Syahrani tidak semua mahasiswa Kebidanan bisa mengisi lembar partograf dengan benar, rata-rata dalam penerapannya belum sempurna. Pada saat konsultasi asuhan kebidanan ibu bersalin rata-rata mahasiswa Akbid Bunga Husada belum bisa mengisi lembar prtograf. Hal tersebut yang mendasari dilakukannya penelitian tentang Hubungan Motivasi Belajar terhadap Evaluasi Hasil Belajar Partograf pada Mahasiswa Tingkat II Diploma III Akademi Kebidanan Bunga Husada Samarinda Tahun 2017. Penelitian ini bersifat dekriptif analitik dengan yaitu metode untuk mengetahui hubungan motivasi belajar partograf pada mahasiswa Tingkat II Diploma III Akademi Kebidanan Bunga Husada Tahun 2017, dengan desain penelitian Cross Sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa Tingkat II Program Studi Diploma III Akademi Kebidanan Bunga Husada Tahun 2017 dengan jumlah populasi 86 orang. Teknik pengambilan sample dengan total sampling. Tempat penelitian di Akademi Kebidanan Bunga Husada Samarinda. Analisis data menggunakan analisis univariat dengan distribusi frekuensi dan analisis bivariat dengan Chi Square (X2), tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara variable motivasi belajar dengan evaluasi hasil belajar partograf. Hasil pengujian statistik diperoleh nilai X2 hitung =  6.36 > nilai X2 tabel = 3.84 (p value = 0.012 < α 0.05), OR = 3.43. Peneliti menyarankan Kepada Institusi pendidikan agar dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar mahasiswa agar tercapai hasil belajar partograf lebih baik. Kepada pengajar agar dapat mempertahankan dan meningkatkan pengetahuan para mahasiswa tentang pentingnya penggunaan partograf dalam setiap tindakan dalam proses persalinan serta meningkatkan motivasi belajar mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran sehingga mencapai hasil yang lebih baik. Kepada mahasiswa agar melaksanakan proses pembelajaran yang didasari oleh keinginan menjadi lebih baik

    IMPROVEMENT OF LOW RANK COAL PROPERTIES BY VARIOUS UPGRADING PROCESSES

    A low rank coal from Banko, South Sumatera was used to study the properties improvement of the coal due to coal upgrading process. Various coal upgrading processes were conducted i.e. upgraded brown coal (UBC), hot water drying (HWD) and steam drying (SD). The UBC process was carried out in pilot scale with a capacity of 5 tons/day at temperature of 160°C and pressure of 0.35 MPa, while the HWD and SD pro- cesses were conducted in laboratory scale using autoclave at the temperature of 300ºC and pressure of about 12 MPa for 1 hour. The result indicates that the properties of Banko coals after the UBC, HWD and SD processes were improved. The calorific value of the upgraded coals was significantly increased in relevant to the decreasing of inherent moisture content and have better combustion characteristics than that of the raw coal. The highest calorific value can be achieved by SD process, followed by HWD and UBC processes

    STUDY OF POLYMETHACRYLATE (PMA) INFLUENCE AS DISPERSANT ON UBCWM PREPARATION

    Upgraded brown coal water mixture (UBCWM) is a mixture of coal resulted from upgraded brown coal (UBC) process with water in a certain ratio to form a homogeneous and stable suspension during storage, transpor- tation and combustion. UBCWM can be used as direct fuel as substitute for heavy fuel oil, particularly in industrial boilers. To obtain a UBCWM with high coal concentration and low apparent viscosity as well as good flow characteristics, the addition of additive as dispersant is needed. To study the effectiveness of polymethacrylate (PMA) as dispersant, research on the effect of PMA in the production of UBCWM needs to be carried out. The research was conducted by preparing UBCWM with the addition of PMA of 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5% and also carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) of 0.01% as stabilizer. Preparation of UBCWM using 0.3% PMA and CMC, xantham gum (S- 60) and ransham gum (S-194) of 0.01% each was also carried out. Flow characteristic of the UBCWM was measured by using a viscometer at various shear rate. Results indicate that the addition of 0.3% PMA in the production of UBCWM is effective as dispersant. The addition of 0.5% PMA did not significantly reduce apparent viscosity. The addition of 0.3% PMA together with 0.01% CMC produces UBCWM with the highest coal concentration of 58.3% with yield stress of 23.22 Pa
