    [Resumen] Durante la d茅cada de 1960, se produjeron importantes transformaciones en la arquitectura de Concepci贸n, Chile. El efecto de un terremoto y la puesta en marcha de un renovado Plan Regulador generaron cambios sustanciales en la manera de concebir la arquitectura local. Asimismo, la Iglesia Cat贸lica vivi贸 procesos de cambio que repercutieron en su arquitectura. Concepci贸n fue parte de esos cambios y en la totalidad de su 谩rea metropolitana se construyeron obras de arquitectura religiosa que trascendieron el paso del tiempo. Estas obras (que adem谩s repercutieron en los planteamientos de templos protestantes) trascendieron m谩s all谩 de su funci贸n espiritual, en particular, teniendo un impacto urbano notorio, configurando manzanas y barrios y pasando a ser hitos importantes y apreciados en la ciudad.[Abstract] During the 1960鈥檚 decade, the city of Concepci贸n, Chile, went through several changes.     Science Education with mobile devices - Experiments, teaching and research possibilities

    The present thesis is dedicated to the exploration and validation of novel uses and applications of mobile devices as experimental tools (MDETs) in the realm of science and in particular physics education. Specifically, it presents applications of MDETs for physics teaching and learning in four different teaching settings: I) several new experiments which illustrate the potential of MDETs for exploring physics in novel ways in a variety of real-life situations; II) a selection of experiments for usual laboratory sessions, highlighting the practicality and versatility of the approach; III) science communication and citizen science; IV) and undergraduate research projects. In these four settings, a wide variety of physics experiments were developed and tested, from classical to novel ones, and from simple to more elaborate ones: the standing vertical jump as an application of mechanics to sports; the modulation of the spectrum of the sizzling noise in a frying pan, based on the model of the Helmholtz resonator; analyzing sound in a daily life situation by Euler-Bernoulli beam theory; investigating the dynamics of the "Euler disk" with its finite time singularity using acoustical and mechanical data (setting I); inclined plane; parabolic motion; pendulum; sound frequency (musical instruments); noise level and 1/r^2-behaviour of point sources; atmospheric pressure; thermal mixing and IR transparency (setting II and III); car breaking distance; motion in a flight simulator; parabolic flight; Earth radius; bottle Helmholtz resonator; singing glasses (setting IV)

    An application of the Euler鈥揃ernoulli beam theory (a classic in vibration and acoustics) to a curious sound phenomenon occurring in a daily life situation is presented. A smartphone is used as an experimental tool to measure and analyse the acoustic signal. The experimental data are compared to a prediction from the Euler-Bernoulli model, yielding satisfactory agreement. Limitations of the analysis are discussed. The low-cost nature and the investigation of a curious phenomenon make the example a good candidate e.g., for undergraduate lab-work courses or research projects, which can spark students interest in acoustics, and more generally develop their interest and skill in applying physics to phenomena of everyday life.Se presenta una aplicaci贸n de la teor铆a del haz de Euler-Bernoulli (un cl谩sico en vibraci贸n y ac煤stica) a un curioso fen贸meno sonoro que ocurre en una situaci贸n de la vida diaria. Se utiliza un tel茅fono inteligente como herramienta experimental para medir y analizar la se帽al ac煤stica. Los datos experimentales se comparan con una predicci贸n del modelo de Euler-Bernoulli, obteniendo un acuerdo satisfactorio. Se discuten las limitaciones del an谩lisis.     ICT devices like smartphones and their inbuilt sensors show a strong development in the last decade, leading to new ways of fruitful interaction of technology and science education. In this framework, we review existing and report own and new research and development from three complementary perspectives on general goals in technology education, scientific and experimental use use of technology in education, and own empirical research about the educational impact of SETs. The contribution concludes with a series of theses regarding integrated technology and science education, addressing limitations, perspectives for synergies between technology and science education, and needs for research and development
