    Information requirements for enterprise systems

    In this paper, we discuss an approach to system requirements engineering, which is based on using models of the responsibilities assigned to agents in a multi-agency system of systems. The responsibility models serve as a basis for identifying the stakeholders that should be considered in establishing the requirements and provide a basis for a structured approach, described here, for information requirements elicitation. We illustrate this approach using a case study drawn from civil emergency management

    Characterisation of Nd-doped calcium aluminosilicate parent glasses designed for the preparation of zirconolite-based glass-ceramic waste forms

    4 pagesZirconolite-based (nominally CaZrTi2O7) glass-ceramics belonging to the SiO2-Al2O3-CaO-ZrO2-TiO2 system are good waste forms for the specific immobilisation of actinides. The understanding of their crystallisation processes implies to investigate the structure of the glass. Thus, the environment around Ti, Zr (nucleating agents) and Nd (trivalent actinides surrogate) was characterised in parent glasses. Electron spin resonance (ESR) study of the small amount of Ti3+ occurring in the glass enabled to identify two types of sites for titanium: the main one is of C4v or D4h symmetry. EXAFS showed that Zr occupied a quite well defined 6-7-fold coordinated site with second neighbours which could correspond to Ca/Ti and Zr. Nd environment was probed by optical spectroscopies (absorption, fluorescence), ESR and EXAFS. All these techniques demonstrated that the environment around Nd was very constrained by the glassy network. Notably, Nd occupies a highly distorted 8-9-fold coordinated site in the parent glass

However, establishing strong alignment in the context of the eGovernment environment can be difficult. It is widely accepted that business processes in the government environment plays a pivotal role in capturing the details of IS requirements. This paper presents a method of business process modelling through UML which can help to visualise and capture the IS requirements for the system development. A series of UML models have been developed and discussed. A case study on patient visits to a healthcare clinic in the context of eGovernment has been used to validate the models

    CpG-ODN-induced sustained expression of BTLA mediating selective inhibition of human B cells.

    BTLA (B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator) is a prominent co-receptor that is structurally and functionally related to CTLA-4 and PD-1. In T cells, BTLA inhibits TCR-mediated activation. In B cells, roles and functions of BTLA are still poorly understood and have never been studied in the context of B cells activated by CpG via TLR9. In this study, we evaluated the expression of BTLA depending on activation and differentiation of human B cell subsets in peripheral blood and lymph nodes. Stimulation with CpG upregulated BTLA, but not its ligand: herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM), on B cells in vitro and sustained its expression in vivo in melanoma patients after vaccination. Upon ligation with HVEM, BTLA inhibited CpG-mediated B cell functions (proliferation, cytokine production, and upregulation of co-stimulatory molecules), which was reversed by blocking BTLA/HVEM interactions. Interestingly, chemokine secretion (IL-8 and MIP1β) was not affected by BTLA/HVEM ligation, suggesting that BTLA-mediated inhibition is selective for some but not all B cell functions. We conclude that BTLA is an important immune checkpoint for B cells, as similarly known for T cells

    Ternary configuration in the framework of inverse mean-field method

    A static scission configuration in cold ternary fission has been considered in the framework of mean field approach. The inverse scattering method is applied to solve single-particle Schroedinger equation, instead of constrained selfconsistent Hartree-Fock equations. It is shown, that it is possible to simulate one-dimensional three-center system via inverse scattering method in the approximation of reflectless single-particle potentials.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figure, iopart.cls, to be published in Int.J.Mod.Phys.

    Empirical Scoring Functions for Structure-Based Virtual Screening: Applications, Critical Aspects, and Challenges

    Structure-based virtual screening (VS) is a widely used approach that employs the knowledge of the three-dimensional structure of the target of interest in the design of new lead compounds from large-scale molecular docking experiments. Through the prediction of the binding mode and affinity of a small molecule within the binding site of the target of interest, it is possible to understand important properties related to the binding process. Empirical scoring functions are widely used for pose and affinity prediction. Although pose prediction is performed with satisfactory accuracy, the correct prediction of binding affinity is still a challenging task and crucial for the success of structure-based VS experiments. There are several efforts in distinct fronts to develop even more sophisticated and accurate models for filtering and ranking large libraries of compounds. This paper will cover some recent successful applications and methodological advances, including strategies to explore the ligand entropy and solvent effects, training with sophisticated machine-learning techniques, and the use of quantum mechanics. Particular emphasis will be given to the discussion of critical aspects and further directions for the development of more accurate empirical scoring functions
