    Every company wants optimal productivity. One of the ways is to have workload analysis to balance number of employees to workload allocations. Early result survey shows that less employees causes bigger workload, which impact on less productivity. Thus conclude the need of workload analysis to get the right number of employees, so the company can have optimal productivity. Assessment result shows existence of 3 work units that need changes on number of employees. The intervention design which proposed is job design. Suggestion to the company is consideration on team of work movement and ergonomic values, also workload analysis on other department. Setiap perusahaan menginginkan produktivitas kerja yang optimal. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan analisis beban kerja untuk menyeimbangkan jumlah karyawan dengan alokasi beban kerja. Hasil survey awal menunjukkan bahwa pengurangan jumlah karyawan menyebabkan beban kerja yang semakin meningkat, dan berdampak pada penurunan produktivitas kerja. Hasil asesmen menunjukkan adanya 3 unit kerja yang membutuhkan perubahan jumlah pegawai. Rancangan intervensi yang diusulkan adalah job design. Saran bagi perusahaan adalah pertimbangan dari segi gerakan kerja dan nilai-nilai ergonomis, serta analisis beban kerja pada departemen lain

    Network Farthest-Point Diagrams

    Consider the continuum of points along the edges of a network, i.e., an undirected graph with positive edge weights. We measure distance between these points in terms of the shortest path distance along the network, known as the network distance. Within this metric space, we study farthest points. We introduce network farthest-point diagrams, which capture how the farthest points---and the distance to them---change as we traverse the network. We preprocess a network G such that, when given a query point q on G, we can quickly determine the farthest point(s) from q in G as well as the farthest distance from q in G. Furthermore, we introduce a data structure supporting queries for the parts of the network that are farther away from q than some threshold R > 0, where R is part of the query. We also introduce the minimum eccentricity feed-link problem defined as follows. Given a network G with geometric edge weights and a point p that is not on G, connect p to a point q on G with a straight line segment pq, called a feed-link, such that the largest network distance from p to any point in the resulting network is minimized. We solve the minimum eccentricity feed-link problem using eccentricity diagrams.     Applications of proteomics tools revolutionized various biomedical disciplines such as genetics, molecular biology, medicine, and dentistry. The aim of this review is to highlight the major milestones in proteomics in dentistry during the last fifteen years. Human oral cavity contains hard and soft tissues and various biofluids including saliva and crevicular fluid. Proteomics has brought revolution in dentistry by helping in the early diagnosis of various diseases identified by the detection of numerous biomarkers present in the oral fluids. This paper covers the role of proteomics tools for the analysis of oral tissues. In addition, dental materials proteomics and their future directions are discussed

    Molecular Interpretation of ACTH-β-Endorphin Coaggregation: Relevance to Secretory Granule Biogenesis

    Peptide/protein hormones could be stored as non-toxic amyloid-like structures in pituitary secretory granules. ACTH and β-endorphin are two of the important peptide hormones that get co-stored in the pituitary secretory granules. Here, we study molecular interactions between ACTH and β-endorphin and their colocalization in the form of amyloid aggregates. Although ACTH is known to be a part of ACTH-β-endorphin aggregate, ACTH alone cannot aggregate into amyloid under various plausible conditions. Using all atom molecular dynamics simulation we investigate the early molecular interaction events in the ACTH-β-endorphin system, β-endorphin-only system and ACTH-only system. We find that β-endorphin and ACTH formed an interacting unit, whereas negligible interactions were observed between ACTH molecules in ACTH-only system. Our data suggest that ACTH is not only involved in interaction with β-endorphin but also enhances the stability of mixed oligomers of the entire system

    Astroglial excitability and gliotransmission: an appraisal of Ca2+ as a signalling route

    Astroglial cells, due to their passive electrical properties, were long considered subservient to neurons and to merely provide the framework and metabolic support of the brain. Although astrocytes do play such structural and housekeeping roles in the brain, these glial cells also contribute to the brain's computational power and behavioural output. These more active functions are endowed by the Ca2+-based excitability displayed by astrocytes. An increase in cytosolic Ca2+ levels in astrocytes can lead to the release of signalling molecules, a process termed gliotransmission, via the process of regulated exocytosis. Dynamic components of astrocytic exocytosis include the vesicular-plasma membrane secretory machinery, as well as the vesicular traffic, which is governed not only by general cytoskeletal elements but also by astrocyte-specific IFs (intermediate filaments). Gliotransmitters released into the ECS (extracellular space) can exert their actions on neighbouring neurons, to modulate synaptic transmission and plasticity, and to affect behaviour by modulating the sleep homoeostat. Besides these novel physiological roles, astrocytic Ca2+ dynamics, Ca2+-dependent gliotransmission and astrocyte–neuron signalling have been also implicated in brain disorders, such as epilepsy. The aim of this review is to highlight the newer findings concerning Ca2+ signalling in astrocytes and exocytotic gliotransmission. For this we report on Ca2+ sources and sinks that are necessary and sufficient for regulating the exocytotic release of gliotransmitters and discuss secretory machinery, secretory vesicles and vesicle mobility regulation. Finally, we consider the exocytotic gliotransmission in the modulation of synaptic transmission and plasticity, as well as the astrocytic contribution to sleep behaviour and epilepsy

    Prediction of Protein Modification Sites of Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid Using mRMR Feature Selection and Analysis

    Pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA) is formed during a common post-translational modification (PTM) of extracellular and multi-pass membrane proteins. In this study, we developed a new predictor to predict the modification sites of PCA based on maximum relevance minimum redundancy (mRMR) and incremental feature selection (IFS). We incorporated 727 features that belonged to 7 kinds of protein properties to predict the modification sites, including sequence conservation, residual disorder, amino acid factor, secondary structure and solvent accessibility, gain/loss of amino acid during evolution, propensity of amino acid to be conserved at protein-protein interface and protein surface, and deviation of side chain carbon atom number. Among these 727 features, 244 features were selected by mRMR and IFS as the optimized features for the prediction, with which the prediction model achieved a maximum of MCC of 0.7812. Feature analysis showed that all feature types contributed to the modification process. Further site-specific feature analysis showed that the features derived from PCA's surrounding sites contributed more to the determination of PCA sites than other sites. The detailed feature analysis in this paper might provide important clues for understanding the mechanism of the PCA formation and guide relevant experimental validations
