Irreducible Representations of Diperiodic Groups
The irreducible representations of all of the 80 diperiodic groups, being the
symmetries of the systems translationally periodical in two directions, are
calculated. To this end, each of these groups is factorized as the product of a
generalized translational group and an axial point group. The results are
presented in the form of the tables, containing the matrices of the irreducible
representations of the generators of the groups. General properties and some
physical applications (degeneracy and topology of the energy bands, selection

Mixed-state twin observables
Twin observables, i.e. opposite subsystem observables A+ and A- that are
indistinguishable in measurement in a given mixed or pure state W, are
investigated in detail algebraicly and geometrically. It is shown that there is
a far-reaching correspondence between the detectable (in W) spectral entities
of the two operators. Twin observables are state-dependently quantum-logically
equivalent, and direct subsystem measurement of one of them ipso facto gives
rise to the indirect (i.e. distant) measurement of the other. Existence of
nontrivial twins requires singularity of W. Systems in thermodynamic
equilibrium do not admit subsystem twins. These observables may enable one to

ECG Sensor Measurements with Arduino in Biomedicine Education

68/2022-14.This paper presents the system for electrocardiogram measurements (ECG) using an Arduino microcontroller and AD8232 ECG sensor. The paper gives the basics of human heart anatomy and electrical activity which is enough for understanding the basic principles of ECG measurements. The hardware and software components are presented, as well as the given results. This system can be effectively used as an ECG measurement device and in biomedicine students’ education.Publishe
Cylindrical quantum wires with hydrogen-bonded materials
Properties of cylindrical quantum wires are analysed in this paper. Energies
of elementary excitations as well as one-particle wave functions were found for
mentioned structure. For cylindrical quantum wires the temperature of phase
transition was found. The behaviour of electric susceptibility in paraelectric

Complexity of coordinated beamforming and scheduling for OFDMA based heterogeneous networks
Coordination is foreseen to be an important component of future mobile radio networks. It is especially relevant in heterogeneous networks, where high power base stations produce strong interference to an underlying layer of low power base stations. This work investigates in detail the achievable performance gains for one coordination technique—coordinated beamforming. It reveals the main factors that influence the throughput of the mobile stations. These findings are combined with an analysis of the computational complexity. As a result, a heuristic algorithm is presented that achieves results close to an exhaustive search with significantly less calculations. Detailed simulation analysis is presented on a realistic network layout
Projection Postulate and Atomic Quantum Zeno Effect
The projection postulate has been used to predict a slow-down of the time
evolution of the state of a system under rapidly repeated measurements, and
ultimately a freezing of the state. To test this so-called quantum Zeno effect
an experiment was performed by Itano et al. (Phys. Rev. A 41, 2295 (1990)) in
which an atomic-level measurement was realized by means of a short laser pulse.
The relevance of the results has given rise to controversies in the literature.
In particular the projection postulate and its applicability in this experiment
have been cast into doubt. In this paper we show analytically that for a wide
range of parameters such a short laser pulse acts as an effective level
measurement to which the usual projection postulate applies with high accuracy.
The corrections to the ideal reductions and their accumulation over n pulses
are calculated. Our conclusion is that the projection postulate is an excellent
pragmatic tool for a quick and simple understanding of the slow-down of time
evolution in experiments of this type. However, corrections have to be
included, and an actual freezing does not seem possible because of the finite

Different expressions of the same mode: a recent dialogue between archaeological and contemporary drawing practices
In this article we explore what we perceive as pertinent features of shared experience at the excavations of an Iron Age Hillfort at Bodfari, North Wales, referencing artist, archaeologist and examples of seminal art works and archaeological records resulting through inter-disciplinary collaboration. We explore ways along which archaeological and artistic practices of improvisation become entangled and productive through their different modes of mark-making. We contend that marks and memories of artist and archaeologist alike emerge interactively, through the mutually constituting effects of the object of study, the tools of exploration, and the practitioners themselves, when they are enmeshed in the cross-modally bound activities. These include, but are not limited to, remote sensing, surveying, mattocking, trowelling, drawing, photographing, videoing and sound recording. These marks represent the co-signatories: the gesture of the often anonymous practitioners, the voice of the deposits, as well as the imprint of the tools, and their interplay creates a multi-threaded narrative documenting their modes of intra-action, in short our practices. They occupy the conceptual space of paradata, and in the process of saturating the interstices of digital cognitive prosthetics they lend probity to their translations in both art form and archive
The Precarity of Progress: Implications of a Shifting Gendered Division of Labor for Relationships and Well-Being as a Function of Country-Level Gender Equality
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic saw a shift toward a more traditional division of labor–one where women took greater
responsibility for household tasks and childcare than men. We tested whether this regressive shift was more acutely perceived
and experienced by women in countries with greater gender equality. Cross-cultural longitudinal survey data for women and
men (N = 10,238) was collected weekly during the first few months of the pandemic. Multilevel modelling analyses, based
on seven waves of data collection, indicated that a regressive shift was broadly perceived but not uniformly felt. Women and
men alike perceived a shift toward a more traditional division of household labor during the first few weeks of the pandemic.
However, this perception only undermined women’s satisfaction with their personal relationships and subjective mental health
if they lived in countries with higher levels of economic gender equality. Among women in countries with lower levels of
economic gender equality, the perceived shift predicted higher relationship satisfaction and mental health. There were no
such effects among men. Taken together, our results suggest that subjective perceptions of disempowerment, and the gender
role norms that underpin them, should be considered when examining the gendered impact of global crisis
