    One of the traditional medicine community that has been known to cure digestive problems are klutuk bananas. Klutuk bananas allegedly can relieve pain symptoms of gastric ulcers because of their natural antacid compounds contained therein are content Aluminium hydroxide. However, research on klutuk bananas mention the part of the most effective in treating peptic ulcers is unknown. The purpose of this study is to find out which part of the klutuk banana either fresh or steamed which has the highest aluminum content. The samples studied were part of the skin, flesh, and seeds klutuk banana (Musa Balbisiana Colla) fresh and steamed that had been treated. Determination of aluminum content carried by complexometric titration method. The results of the determination of aluminum content of each sample is a sample A (fresh young klutuk banana skin) = 0.354%, the sample B (fresh young klutuk banana flesh) = 0.405%, the sample C (fresh young klutuk banana seeds) = 0.473%, the sample D (steamed young klutuk banana skin) = 0.343%, the sample E (steamed young klutuk banana flesh) = 0.078%, the samples F (steamed young klutuk banana seeds) = 0.372%. The results showed that the sample C (fresh young klutuk banana seeds) is a sample that has the highest aluminum content is equal to 0.473%, and a steaming treatment on samples affect the content of aluminum contained in the klutuk banana.     Identification of children who may benefit from self-hypnosis at a pediatric pulmonary center

    BACKGROUND: Emotional difficulties can trigger respiratory symptoms. Thus, children presenting with respiratory complaints may benefit from a psychological intervention. The purpose of this study was to define the proportion of patients referred to a Pediatric Pulmonary Center who may benefit from instruction in self-hypnosis, as a psychological intervention. METHODS: A retrospective chart review was conducted for all newly referred patients to the SUNY Upstate Medical University Pediatric Pulmonary Center during an 18 month period beginning January 1, 2000. Patients were offered hypnosis if they presented with symptoms or signs suggestive of psychological difficulties. Hypnosis was taught in one or two 15–45 minute sessions by a pediatric pulmonologist. RESULTS: Of 725 new referrals, 424 were 0–5 years old, 193 were 6–11 years old, and 108 were 12–18 years old. Diagnoses of anxiety, habit cough, or vocal cord dysfunction accounted for 1% of the 0–5 year olds, 20% of the 6–11 year olds, and 31% of the 12–18 year olds. Hypnotherapy was offered to 1% of 0–5 year olds, 36% of 6–11 year olds, and 55% of 12–18 year olds. Of 81 patients who received instruction in self-hypnosis for anxiety, cough, chest pain, dyspnea, or inspiratory difficulties, 75% returned for follow-up, and among the returning patients 95% reported improvement or resolution of their symptoms. CONCLUSION: A large number of patients referred to a Pediatric Pulmonary Center appeared to benefit from instruction in self-hypnosis, which can be taught easily as a psychological intervention

    Morphological image analysis for classification of gastrointestinal tissues using optical coherence tomography

    Computer-aided diagnosis of ophthalmic diseases using optical coherence tomography (OCT) relies on the extraction of thickness and size measures from the OCT images, but such defined layers are usually not observed in emerging OCT applications aimed at "optical biopsy" such as pulmonology or gastroenterology. Mathematical methods such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) or textural analyses including both spatial textural analysis derived from the two-dimensional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and statistical texture analysis obtained independently from center-symmetric auto-correlation (CSAC) and spatial grey-level dependency matrices (SGLDM), as well as, quantitative measurements of the attenuation coefficient have been previously proposed to overcome this problem. We recently proposed an alternative approach consisting of a region segmentation according to the intensity variation along the vertical axis and a pure statistical technology for feature quantification. OCT images were first segmented in the axial direction in an automated manner according to intensity. Afterwards, a morphological analysis of the segmented OCT images was employed for quantifying the features that served for tissue classification. In this study, a PCA processing of the extracted features is accomplished to combine their discriminative power in a lower number of dimensions. Ready discrimination of gastrointestinal surgical specimens is attained demonstrating that the approach further surpasses the algorithms previously reported and is feasible for tissue classification in the clinical setting

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengurangi penggunaan tepung terigu dengan tepung beras dan menentukan suhu pemanggangan cookies yang tepat sehingga didapatkan karakteristik cookies cokelat. Manfaat dari penelitian ini adalah memanfaatkan bahan baku lokal dan menambah alternatif produk pangan berbahan baku tepung beras merah dan tepung beras putih sebagai pengganti tepung terigu dan memanfaatkan kandungan yang terdapat dalam beras merah dan beras putih untuk diversifikasi produk pangan selain diolah menjadi nasi. Penelitian ini meliputi penelitian pendahuluan dan penelitian utama. Penelitian pendahuluan yang dilakukan adalah menentukan partikel size dari tepung beras merah dan beras putih dengan ukuran mesh 60,80 dan 100. Pada penelitian utama dilakukan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan pola faktorial 3x3 dengan 3 kali ulangan. Rancangan faktorial yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari dua faktor yaitu faktor ke satu perbandingan tepung beras merah dan tepung beras putih a1(2:1), a2(1:1), dan a3(1:2), faktor ke dua suhu pemanggangan b1(1400C), b2(1500C), dan b3(1600C). Respon yang diukur dalam penelitian ini adalah respon kimia terhadap kadar air, kadar lemak, kadar protein, kadar karbohidrat, serta respon organoleptik terhadap atribut warna, rasa dan tekstur Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan uji organoleptik pada penelitian pendahuluan, Partikel size terpilih pada tepung beras merah dan tepung beras putih dengan menggunakan mesh 100. Perbandingan tepung beras merah dengan beras putih berpengaruh terhadap atribut warna, aroma dan tekstur serta berpengaruh terhadap kadar karbohidrat, kadar protein dan kadar lemak. Suhu pemanggangan berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua atribut yaitu warna, rasa, dan tekstur serta berpengaruh juga terhadap semua respon kimia yaitu kadar air, kadar karbohidrat, kadar protein dan kadar lemak.     ABSTRAK Perkembangan teknologi informasi saat ini sangat cepat sehingga memberikan dampak pada globalisasi, persaingan bisnis, tuntutan pekerjaan dan tuntutan gaya hidup menjadi semakin meningkat. Salah satunya yaitu menggunakan model Internet of Things (IoT) yang menghasilkan peluang bisnis baru dengan menghubungkan benda-benda fisik dengan berbagai sensor. Penelitian dan pengembangan dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai macam cara untuk mengoprasikan teknologi yang ada saat ini, salah satunya menggunakan sensor, komputer atau bahkan smartphone diperlukan media komunikasi dan antarmuka aplikasi. Media komunikasi yang dapat digunakan untuk menghubungkan perangkat tersebut dengan perangkat lunak yang dipasang pada komputer atau smartphone dapat melalui media komunikasi TPC (Twisted Pair Cable), PLC (Power Line Communication), RF (Radio Frequency), atau Ethernet/IP (Internet Protocol). Tugas akhir ini telah mengembangkan penelitian sebelumnya dengan membangun perangkat lunak untuk sistem penyiraman tanaman otomatis berbasis website. Hasil penelitian ini terdiri dari perangkat lunak dan perangkat keras, pada perangkat lunak berbasis website menggunakan bahasa pemograman php dengan memanfaatkan framework codeigniter dan perangkat keras dibangun menggunakan mikrokontroller Wemos D1 dengan menggunakan satu sensor yaitu sensor kelembaban (soil moisture sensor). Perangkat penyiraman ini diberi nama Splash ‘Em All, perangkat lunak dan perangkat keras dapat saling terhubung menggunakan WiFi. Splash ‘Em All dapat menangani penyiraman otomatis sesuai jadwal dan dapat menampilkan informasi status kelembaban.     Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbandingan bubur rumput laut Eucheuma cottonii dengan bubur brokoli (Brassica oleracea) dan konsentrasi bahan penstabil terhadap karakteristik Mixed Vegetable Leather, untuk menghasilkan makanan ringan berbahan baku sayuran lokal sehingga dapat meningkatkan nilai tambah terhadap brokoli dan rumput laut lokal serta mendukung program diverifikasi produk olahan pangan sehingga dapat menggantikan produk seaweed leather impor. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan percobaan faktorial 3x3 dalam rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu faktor A (Perbandingan bubur rumput laut dengan brokoli) yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu a1 (1:1), a2 (2:1), a3 (3:1) dan faktor B (Konsentrasi penstabil) yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu b1 (0,8%), b2 (1%), b3 (1,2%). Respon yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah respon kimia yang meliputi kadar air dengan metode gravimetri, kadar serat kasar metode gravimetri, kadar karbohidrat total (pati) dengan metode Luff Schoorl, serta aktivitas antioksidan metode DPPH, dan respon organoleptik (uji hedonik) terhadap warna, rasa, aroma, dan tekstur. Perbandingan bubur rumput laut dengan bubur brokoli berpengaruh terhadap respon aroma, rasa, warna, tekstur, kadar air, kadar serat kasar, dan kadar pati. Konsentrasi penstabil berpengaruh terhadap respon aroma, rasa, tekstur, kadar serat kasar, dan kadar pati. Interaksi antara perbandingan bubur rumput laut dengan bubur brokoli dan konsentrasi penstabil berpengaruh terhadap respon rasa, tekstur, kadar serat kasar, dan kadar pati.     Investigation of hollow cylindrical metal terahertz waveguides suitable for cryogenic environments

    The field of terahertz (THz) waveguides continues to grow rapidly, with many being tailored to suit the specific demands of a particular final application. Here, we explore waveguides capable of enabling efficient and accurate power delivery within cryogenic environments (< 4 K). The performance of extruded hollow cylindrical metal waveguides made of un-annealed and annealed copper, as well as stainless steel, have been investigated for bore diameters between 1.75 - 4.6 mm, and at frequencies of 2.0, 2.85 and 3.4 THz, provided by a suitable selection of THz quantum cascade lasers. The annealed copper resulted in the lowest transmission losses, < 3 dB/m for a 4.6 mm diameter waveguide, along with 90° bending losses as low as ~2 dB for a bend radius of 15.9 mm. The observed trends in losses were subsequently analyzed and related to measured inner surface roughness parameters. These results provide a foundation for the development of a wide array of demanding low-temperature THz applications, and enabling the study of fundamental physics.Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (Grant No. EP/J017671/1, Coherent Terahertz Systems)

    Maxillary Changes Following Facial Bipartition – A Three-Dimensional Quantification

    INTRODUCTION: Children with Apert syndrome have hypertelorism and midfacial hypoplasia, which can be treated with facial bipartition (FB), often aided by rigid external distraction. The technique involves a midline osteotomy that lateralizes the maxillary segments, resulting in posterior cross-bites and midline diastema. Varying degrees of spontaneous realignment of the dental arches occurs postoperatively. This study aims to quantify these movements and assess whether they occur as part of a wider skeletal relapse or as dental compensation. METHODS: Patients who underwent FB and had high quality computed tomography scans at the preoperative stage, immediately postsurgery, and later postoperatively were reviewed. DICOM files were converted to three-dimensional bone meshes and anatomical point-to-point displacements were quantified using nonrigid iterative closest point registration. Displacements were visualized using arrow maps, thereby providing an overview of the movements of the facial skeleton and dentition. RESULTS: Five patients with Apert syndrome were included. In all cases, the arrow maps demonstrated initial significant anterior movement of the frontofacial segment coupled with medial rotation of the orbits and transverse divergence of the maxillary arches. The bony position following initial surgery was shown to be largely stable, with primary dentoalveolar relapse correcting the dental alignment. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that spontaneous dental compensation occurs following FB without compromising the surgical result. It may be appropriate to delay active orthodontic for 6-months postoperatively until completion of this early compensatory phase
