    “Education Network” a new way to teach Chemistry

    The complexity of chemistry has implications for the teaching of chemistry. That chemistry is a very complex subject. The majority of the students at University think that chemistry is a difficult discipline and they have difficulty in understanding the concepts. Moreover, students' interest in chemistry decreases the first year at university. The reason for this decrease might be that the contents of chemistry laboratory classes are boring, out of date and lacking of dynamism that students experience through visual media tools. For these reasons, new programs and methodologies should be developed. Those are based on making chemistry relevant through problem solving and collaborative learning hold promise for reforming chemistry education. It is about an education according to circumstances, which is adapted to context and virtual behaviour of people. It's time to CRUSH boredom by transforming your classroom into an Escape Room adventure. School-based escape games are a great teaching tool. The students while playing, learn. The most important point is that they won’t realize they’re doing both at the same time. In this work, an educational gamification experience based on the escape room concept was developed. The first (Do It Yourself) DIY Escape Room was built the year before at Mechanical Engineer Degree started, that took more than three weeks of work. It was presented to other professors to the same subject at different degrees. That DIY Escape Room was modified and adapted to each group.     Association between work related stress and health related quality of life: the impact of socio-demographic variables. A cross sectional study in a region of central Italy

    The aim of this work is investigate relationship between health-related quality of life and work-related stress and the impact of gender, education level, and age on this relationship. A cross-sectional study was conducted among workers of various setting in Rome and Frosinone. Work-related stress was measured with a demand-control questionnaire and health-related functioning by SF (short form)-12 health survey. There were 611 participants. Men reported high mental composite summary (MCS) and physical composite summary (PCS). In multivariate analysis age, gender (p < 0.001) and job demand (0.045) predicted low PCS. Low MCS predicted poor PCS. Job demand and educational level resulted negatively associated with MCS. In an analysis stratified for age, gender, and educational level, gender and age resulted effect modifier for MCS, gender and education level for PCS. In women increase of decision latitude predict (p = 0.001) an increase in MCS; a low job demand predict high MCS in male (p ≤ 0.001). In younger workers, a lower level of job demand predicted high MCS (<0.001). For PCS, gender and education level resulted effect modifier. In women, high decision latitude predicted higher PCS (p = 0.001) and lower level of job demand results in higher PCS (p ≤ 0.001). Higher educational level resulted predictor of low PCS.     First study on volatile composition of three Vitis vinifera cultivars from Betanzos (NW Spain): Blanco lexítimo, Agudelo and Serradelo

Compounds arising from grape metabolism vary as a function not only of the variety but also of climatic conditions and others. Betanzos is the most northern viticole geographic area from Galicia (NW Spain). Wines produced from Vitis vinifera cv. Blanco lexítimo, Agudelo and Serradelo from Betanzos (NW Spain), harvest in 2006 and 2007, were submitted to gas chromatography (GC/FID). A total of 35 varietal and fermentative aroma compounds were identified and quantified which include terpenes and C13-norisoprenoids, alcohols, acids, esters, phenol volatiles and C6 compounds. The results for quantification of the aroma compounds in the three varieties from Betanzos shows that the mean concentration between years was 25039.42ug/L for Blanco lexítimo 21913.2ug/L for Agudelo and 19804.6μg/L for Serradelo variety. Alcohols, acids and esters were the most important volatile compounds in the varieties from Betanzos.[ES] El aroma del vino está formado por compuestos volátiles de diferente naturaleza y origen. Estos compuestos varian no solo con la variedad de uva sino también con las condiciones climáticas y otros factores. Betanzos es la zona vitícola situada más al norte de Galicia (Noroeste de España). Los vinos producidos con tres variedades de Betanzos, Blanco lexítimo, Agudelo y Serradelo cultivadas en las cosechas 2006 y 2007, fueron analizados mediante GC/FID. En los vinos fueron identificados y cuantificados un total de 35 compuestos varietales y fermentativos, en cuales se incluyen C13-norisoprenoides, alcoholes, acidos, esters, fenoles volatiles y otros. Los resultados de la cuantificación de los compuestos del aroma en los vinos de las tres variedades de Betanzos muestra que la concentración mediaentre los años estudiados fue de 25039.42ug/L para Blanco lexítimo 21913.2ug/L para Agudelo y 19804.6μg/L para Serradelo.     The potential of lasmiditan in migraine

    Lasmiditan, a highly selective 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1F (5-HT1F) agonist, is the first drug in its class and is lacking triptan-like vasoactive properties. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved lasmiditan for the acute treatment of migraine in adults based on positive results of two pivotal phase III trials, which showed a significant difference to placebo in the proportion of patients achieving total migraine freedom within 2h. More patients with lasmiditan achieved headache freedom and, in addition, freedom from the most bothersome symptom, that is, photophobia, than with placebo. Treatmentrelated side effects seem to be related to the rapid penetration of the drug into the brain and include dizziness, paresthesia and drowsiness, mostly of mild to moderate intensity. Interim results from an ongoing long-term phase III trial suggest a decrease in the frequency of adverse events after multiple lasmiditan use. Lasmiditan is a promising acute anti-migraine therapy, in particular for patients with cardiovascular risk factors, contraindications, or unwanted side effects to triptans

    Search for dark matter in association with a Higgs boson decaying to b-quarks in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    A search for dark matter pair production in association with a Higgs boson decaying to a pair of bottom quarks is presented, using 3.2 fb−1of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The decay of the Higgs boson is reconstructed as a high-momentum bb¯ system with either a pair of small-radius jets, or a single large-radius jet with substructure. The observed data are found to be consistent with the expected backgrounds.     Body composition and somatotype in professional men's handball according to playing positions

    Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en 19 jugadores profesionales del Club Balonmano Valladolid. Las mediciones antropométricas fueron realizadas según el protocolo estándar. Se estimaron la masa grasa y ósea, se calculó el somatotipo y se analizaron las diferencias entre las variables en función de la posición. Como resultados, se obtuvo que los pivotes fueron los jugadores más pesados (con mayor porcentaje de masa grasa); los extremos, los más ligeros y los laterales, junto con los pivotes, los más altos. No se observaron diferencias en el IMC en los grupos. En la somatocarta los centrales y laterales se situaron en la zona central; los extremos y los pivotes en la endomorfa-mesomorfa y los porteros en la ecto-endomorfa. Así se evidenció que las variables antropométricas, los datos de composición corporal y la somatocarta de los deportistas confirman las características morfológicas básicas de los jugadores para la posición para la que son más aptosA cross-sectional descriptive study was accomplished in 19 professional players from Valladolid Handball Club. Anthropometric measurements were performed according to standard protocol. Body fat and bone mass were estimated, and the somatotype was calculated. As results, the line players were significantly the heaviest players; the wings were lightest and the backs, with the line players, the tallest. Nevertheless, no significant differences in BMI were observed. Regarding the body composition, the line players showed the highest values of fat-mass. No differences in BMI were observed in the groups. With respect to the somatochart, the center backs and backs were in the central area; wings and line players showed an endomorph-mesomorph development, and goalkeepers were in the ectoendomorph area. As conclusions, anthropometric variables, body composition data and the somatochart of the athletes evaluated confirm the basic morphological characteristics of the players for the position for which they are best suite

    Canine mesenchymal cell lyosecretome production and safety evaluation after allogenic intraarticular injection in osteoarthritic dogs

    In recent years, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have shown promise as a therapy in treating musculoskeletal diseases, and it is currently believed that their therapeutic effect is mainly related to the release of proteins and extracellular vesicles (EVs), known as secretome. In this work, three batches of canine MSC-secretome were prepared by standardized processes according to the current standard ISO9001 and formulated as a freeze-dried powder named Lyosecretome. The final products were char-acterized in protein and lipid content, EV size distribution and tested to ensure the microbiological safety required for intraarticular injection. Lyosecretome induced the proliferation of adipose tissue-derived canine MSCs, tenocytes, and chondrocytes in a dose-dependent manner and showed anti-elastase activ-ity, reaching 85% of inhibitory activity at a 20 mg/mL concentration. Finally, to evaluate the safety of the preparation, three patients affected by bilateral knee or elbow osteoarthritis were treated with two intraarticular injections (t = 0 and t = 40 days) of the allogeneic Lyosecretome (20 mg corresponding 2 × 106 cell equivalents) resuspended in hyaluronic acid in one joint and placebo (mannitol resuspended in hyalu-ronic acid) in the other joint. To establish the safety of the treatment, the follow-up included a questionnaire addressed to the owner and orthopaedic examinations to assess lameness grade, pain score, func-tional disability score and range of motion up to day 80 post-treatment. Overall, the collected data suggest that intra-articular injection of allogeneic Lyosecretome is safe and does not induce a clinically significant local or systemic adverse response
