    El climaterio es un acontecimiento normal que se presenta de manera evolutiva en la vida de la mujer, que se presenta este periodo comprende 10 a 15 de duración en el cual se presentan profundos cambios psicológicos y fisiológicos, y uno de los cambios más transcendentes es la pérdida de la capacidad reproductiva. La menopausia se caracteriza como la última menstruación de la mujer y se establece pasando un año ininterrumpido de amenorrea, en México la edad media en que aparece la menopausia varía de 47 a 49 años. Aunando a este periodo se ha observado padecimientos crónico-degenerativos como son: la osteoporosis y la enfermedad cardiovascular asociado a la posmenopausia. En las últimas tres décadas se ha avanzado en la mejorar de la salud de la mujer brindándole uso de la terapia hormonal de reemplazo (THR); que coadyuva a disminuir la sintomatología en general, así como la osteoporosis y disminuir el riesgo cardiovascular por hipoestrogenismo, mejorar la condición mental y por consecuencia su calidad de vida

    Transcending conventional biometry frontiers: Diffusive Dynamics PPG Biometry

    In the first half of the 20th century, a first pulse oximeter was available to measure blood flow changes in the peripheral vascular net. However, it was not until recent times the PhotoPlethysmoGraphic (PPG) signal used to monitor many physiological parameters in clinical environments. Over the last decade, its use has extended to the area of biometrics, with different methods that allow the extraction of characteristic features of each individual from the PPG signal morphology, highly varying with time and the physical states of the subject. In this paper, we present a novel PPG-based biometric authentication system based on convolutional neural networks. Contrary to previous approaches, our method extracts the PPG signal's biometric characteristics from its diffusive dynamics, characterized by geometric patterns image in the (p, q)-planes specific to the 0-1 test. The diffusive dynamics of the PPG signal are strongly dependent on the vascular bed's biostructure, which is unique to each individual, and highly stable over time and other psychosomatic conditions. Besides its robustness, our biometric method is anti-spoofing, given the convoluted nature of the blood network. Our biometric authentication system reaches very low Equal Error Rates (ERRs) with a single attempt, making it possible, by the very nature of the envisaged solution, to implement it in miniature components easily integrated into wearable biometric systems.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, 4 table

    Mobile Voices: Projecting the Voices of Immigrant Workers by Appropriating Mobile Phones for Popular Communication

    Mobile Voices, also known as VozMob (www.vozmob.net), is a digital storytelling platform for first generation, low-wage immigrants in Los Angeles to create and publish stories about their communities, directly from cell phones. The project is a partnership between the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California (USC) and the Institute of Popular Education of Southern California (IDEPSCA), a nonprofit that organizes low-income immigrants in Los Angeles. Founded in 1984, IDEPSCA's programs are focused on education, economic development, health access and reform, popular communication, and worker rights. Currently IDEPSCA runs six day laborer and household worker centers and two day laborer corners where workers look for jobs in a more humane and dignified way while learning about their rights and gaining valuable leadership skills. The Annenberg School for Communication (the research partner) and IDEPSCA (the community partner) came together around the shared goal of designing communication systems and processes that promote media justice and help those without computer access gain greater participation in the digital public sphere. This chapter is a reflection on popular communication, participatory design, andcommunity-based multimedia practice from the Mobile Voices project team.     Meson-exchange currents and quasielastic predictions for charged-current neutrino-12C scattering in the superscaling approach

    We evaluate and discuss the impact of meson-exchange currents (MECs) on charged-current quasielastic neutrino cross sections. We consider the nuclear transverse response arising from two-particle two-hole states excited by the action of electromagnetic, purely isovector meson-exchange currents in a fully relativistic framework based on the work by the Torino Collaboration [A. D. Pace, M. Nardi, W. M. Alberico, T. W. Donnelly, and A. Molinari, Nucl. Phys. A726, 303 (2003)]. An accurate parametrization of this MEC response as a function of the momentum and energy transfers involved is presented. Results of neutrino-nucleus cross sections using this MEC parametrization together with a recent scaling approach for the one-particle one-hole contributions (named SuSAv2) are compared with experimental data (MiniBooNE, MINERvA, NOMAD and T2K Collaborations).Comment: 16 pages, 19 figure

    Experimental-Theoretic Approach to Drug-Lymphocyte Interactome Networks with Flow Cytometry and Spectral Moments Perturbation Theory

    Modelos matematicos y citometria de flujoAbstract: We can combine experimental techniques like Flow Cytometry Analysis (FCA) with Chemoinformatics methods to predict the complex networks of interactions between organic compounds and targets in the immune system. In this work, we determined experimentally the values of EC50 = 17.82 μg/mL and Cytotoxicity = 20.6 % for the antimicrobial / anti-parasite drug Dermofural over Balb/C CD9 lymphocytes using flow cytometry. After that, we developed a new Perturbation-theory model for Drug-Cell Target Interactome in Lymphocytes based on dispersion-polarization moments of drug structure. The models correctly classifies 34591 out of 42715 (Accuracy = 80.9%) cases of perturbations in assay endpoints of 11492 drugs (including both train and validation series).
