On statistical properties of traded volume in financial markets
In this article we study the dependence degree of the traded volume of the
Dow Jones 30 constituent equities by using a nonextensive generalised form of
the Kullback-Leibler information measure. Our results show a slow decay of the
dependence degree as a function of the lag. This feature is compatible with the
existence of non-linearities in this type time series. In addition, we
introduce a dynamical mechanism whose associated stationary probability density
function (PDF) presents a good agreement with the empirical results.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, 1 table. Based on the talk presented at "News,

Modelo de cuantificación del consumo energético en edificación
The research conducted in this paper focuses on the generation
of a model for the quantification of energy consumption
in building. This is to be done through one of
the most relevant environmental impact indicators associated
with weight per m2 of construction, as well as the
energy consumption resulting from the manufacturing
process of materials used in building construction.
The practical application of the proposed model on different
buildings typologies in Seville, will provide information
regarding the building materials, the subsystems
and the most relevant construction elements. Hence, we
will be able to observe the impact the built surface has
on the environment.
The results obtained aim to reference the scientific community,
providing quantitative data comparable to other
types of buildings and geographical areas. Furthermore,
it may also allow the analysis and the characterization of
feasible solutions to reduce the environmental impact
generated by the different materials, subsystems and
construction elements commonly used in the different
building types defined in this study.
edificatorias definidas
Sustainability Assessment in Singular Structures, Foundations and Structural Rehabilitation in Spanish Legislation
The objective of this work is twofold: to determine the scope of the tools currently available for the assessment of
sustainability of structures in Spanish legislation; and to identify environmental aspects that have yet to be covered, especially in the
case of foundations and of measures aimed at the structural rehabilitation of singular buildings. To this end, the method proposed in
the Spanish Instruction of Structural Concrete is applied to the particular case of the supported foundations of the Cylindrical and
Colonel buildings in the construction of the new Faculties of Law and of Work Sciences, of the University of Seville during the
period between 2005 and 2008. This case was chosen for its special uniqueness and for its inclusion of environmental aspects that
remain outside the scope of existing methods.
Most of these aspects are also of great relevance in structural rehabilitation activities carried out in urban environments and
neighbourhoods, where a major surge is currently underway due to the economic crisis that has hit projects of newly constructed
buildings. By virtue of the work carried out in recent years in the field of sustainability and the environment by several research
groups at the University of Seville, a number of alternatives are proposed for the quantification of those aspects that remain to be
considered. These techniques are based on tools that allow the agents to intervene in a flexible and effective way in the project
implementation phase

Yet on statistical properties of traded volume: correlation and mutual information at different value magnitudes
In this article we analyse linear correlation and non-linear dependence of
traded volume, , of the 30 constituents of Dow Jones Industrial Average at
different value scales. Specifically, we have raised to some real value
or , which introduces a bias for small ()
or large () values. Our results show that small values of
are regularly \emph{anti-correlated} with values at other scales of traded
volume. This is consistent with the high liquidity of the 30 equities analysed
and the asymmetric form of the multi-fractal spectrum for traded volume which
has supported the dynamical scenario presented by us.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figure
(In)justicia multidimensional y pedagogías socialmente justas: el caso de un padre de un niño con discapacidad
In this article, we intend to contribute to the debate of educational justice, especially for children with special needs, challenging those theories that focus only on unidimensional aspects. Using Gewirtz's multidimensional model of justice and the frame of socially just pedagogies, we analyse the case of Oscar, a father of a child with Down Syndrome, who is looking for a school for his son. The case develops in the Chilean educational system context, which is known by its neoliberal policy frame and its highly stratified structure. For this reason, a new inclusion law and, specifically, a new school admission system were implemented in 2015 and 2017 respectively, to generate a fairer and more equal school admission policy frame. Therefore, our theoretical proposition has practical implications, in policy terms, and analytical ones. We propose to add two dimensions of educational justice at the time we analyse Oscar’s case: first, educational justice must embrace injustices that are not necessarily experienced in formal educational spaces; we call this the multi-spatiality dimension of justice. Second, we propose a multi-temporality analysis of educational justice, one that considers, as socially just pedagogies have established, a focus on the future. In this case the educational policy and discourse promotes a pre-established and normalised future for children, one that is problematic for children with disabilities, whose parents, like Oscar, have a more urgent focus on the present.
Communicating in 140 Characters. How Journalists in Spain use Twitter = Comunicar en 140 caracteres. Cómo usan Twitter los comunicadores en España
The emergence of Twitter appears to be changing information practices. Hence, a great deal of recent research is based on its popularity among communicators, reaching the conclusion that it serves to increase interactivity with readers. But to what degree is it true that it contributes to a type of journalism which is more open to the public? This research aims especially to clarify two main questions: what specific uses do journalists make of Twitter and to what extent does twoway interaction with the public take place through this medium? It is based on the quantitative analysis of a sample comprising almost 5 million tweets posted by 1,504 Spanish media communicators, perhaps the largest sample studied so far. The analysis shows the existence of a twospeed Twitter (with a minority of influential communicators and a majority who have little impact), which has negligible interaction with followers. With few exceptions, the communicators establish endogamous relationships on Twitter. They respond to mention and retweet colleagues, failing to take advantage of the multidirectional potential offered by the platform. This research expands the empirical basis which can be used to consider and discuss the scope and limits of user participation in information events. Many authors have theorized on this subject, perhaps too enthusiastically and arguably from a somewhat utopian perspective
Pop-Rock Festivals Today: counterculture hippie transformed into a mainstream commodity
In recent years, outdoor pop-rock festivals are becoming a global phenomenon due to their power for attracting tourists and encouraging the economic development of the area that hosts them, but also because they have adapted to the cultural practices of the younger generations, which are dominated by speed, condensation and the search for experiences. Nowadays, it can be argued that festivals, especially outdoor festivals, are products elaborated, designed, planned and commodified by the current cultural and creative industries, in particular by the music business, but also by other actors involved in the process of their development. As a result, festivals have proliferated all over the world, whose organisers have used the collective imaginary of the Counterculture festivals of the 70s and 80s in order to produce commercially marketable, saleable, experienced products that are more typical from the entertainment economy than from culture.
Using an in-depth documentary review and interviews with experts, this paper aims to offer a conceptual delimitation that describes the current nature of the phenomenon, which is heir to the hippie counterculture, but is more like an experience and leisure destination. The results suggest that contemporary outdoor pop-rock festivals have transcended beyond the musical product to convert themselves into ecosystems where the players involved —organisers, sponsors, artists, festival-goers, authorities, mass media, etc.— develop their own narratives, rooted in the collective imaginary of popular culture regarding rock festivals, in order to create a product that can be consumed in an experiential way. In the same way, the study shows that, despite the differences and specificities of each event, we are faced with a truly uniform and global phenomenon that responds to common and recognisable characteristics in each one of them. This participation has been funded by the PAIDI Group of the University of Malaga (Spain), SEJ-435 “Contenidos audiovisuales avanzados”, coordinated by Miguel de Aguilera Moyano.
