Multi-Tier Annotations in the Verbmobil Corpus
In very large and diverse scientific projects where as different groups as linguists and engineers with different intentions work on the same signal data or its orthographic transcript and annotate new valuable information, it will not be easy to build a homogeneous corpus. We will describe how this can be achieved, considering the fact that some of these annotations have not been updated properly, or are based on erroneous or deliberately changed versions of the basis transcription. We used an algorithm similar to dynamic programming to detect differences between the transcription on which the annotation depends and the reference transcription for the whole corpus. These differences are automatically mapped on a set of repair operations for the transcriptions such as splitting compound words and merging neighbouring words. On the basis of these operations the correction process in the annotation is carried out. It always depends on the type of the annotation as well as on the position and the nature of the difference, whether a correction can be carried out automatically or has to be fixed manually. Finally we present a investigation in which we exploit the multi-tier annotations of the Verbmobil corpus to find out how breathing is correlated with prosodic-syntactic boundaries and dialog acts. 1
Comment on "On the uncertainty relations and squeezed states for the quantum mechanics on a circle"
It is shown by examples that the position uncertainty on a circle, proposed
recently by Kowalski and Rembieli\'nski [J. Phys. A 35 (2002) 1405] is not
consistent with the state localization. We argue that the relevant
uncertainties and uncertainty relations (UR's) on a circle are that based on
the Gram-Robertson matrix. Several of these generalized UR's are displayed and
related criterions for squeezed states are discussed.Comment: 5 pages, LaTex2e, 3 figures.ep
Technologies in the cruise tourism services: A systematic and bibliometric approach
COVID-19 and the faster evolution of emerging technologies forced companies to create new business models and become more digital. Therefore, companies worldwide have adopted different digital technologies such as online stores, digital assistants, digital panels, or robotic services.
This trend has also impacted the cruise industry, with new cruise ships using digital technologies onboard such as:
Artificial Intelligence (AI):
⎼ ZOE digital assistance is used in the latest MSC Cruise Ships.
⎼ Virtual Concierge app used on the newest Celebrity Cruises Ships.
⎼ Robotic bartender at the Bionic Bar on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
⎼ Pepper, the humanoid robot at Costa Cruise Line ships.
⎼ Rob the first humanoid robot bartender at MSC Cruise ships.
Virtual Reality (VR):
⎼ Shore excursions
⎼ Culinary dining
Despite the strong adoption of new technologies in cruise ships, existing studies related to the use of AI, VR, or robots in smart tourism are mostly limited to restaurants, hotels, or airports. Opening an opportunity to develop a systematic and bibliometric review on this topic - Technologies in the cruise tourism services.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Binaries with total eclipses in the LMC: potential targets for spectroscopy
35 Eclipsing binaries presenting unambiguous total eclipses were selected
from a subsample of the list of Wyrzykowski et al. (2003). The photometric
elements are given for the I curve in DiA photometry, as well as approximate
Teff and masses of the components. The interest of these systems is stressed in
view of future spectroscopic observations.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure; poster presented at the conference "Close binaries

Coherent states of a charged particle in a uniform magnetic field
The coherent states are constructed for a charged particle in a uniform
magnetic field based on coherent states for the circular motion which have
recently been introduced by the authors.Comment: 2 eps figure
On the uncertainty relations and squeezed states for the quantum mechanics on a circle
The uncertainty relations for the position and momentum of a quantum particle
on a circle are identified minimized by the corresponding coherent states. The
sqeezed states in the case of the circular motion are introduced and discussed
in the context of the uncertainty relations.Comment: 4 figure
Magnetization Switching in Nanowires: Monte Carlo Study with Fast Fourier Transformation for Dipolar Fields
For the investigations of thermally activated magnetization reversal in
systems of classical magnetic moments numerical methods are desirable. We
present numerical studies which base on time quantified Monte Carlo methods
where the long-range dipole-dipole interaction is calculated with the aid of
fast Fourier transformation. As an example, we study models for ferromagnetic
nanowires comparing our numerical results for the characteristic time of the
reversal process also with numerical data from Langevin dynamics simulations
where the fast Fourier transformation method is well established. Depending on
the system geometry different reversal mechanism occur like coherent rotation,
nucleation, and curling.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, submitted to J. Magn. Magn. Ma
Dark Energy in an Axion Model with Explicit Z(N) Symmetry Breaking
We point out that a well known axion model with an explicit Z(N) symmetry
breaking term predicts both dark energy and cold dark matter. We estimate the
parameters of this model which fit the observed densities of the dark
components of the universe. We find that the parameters do not conflict with
any observations.Comment: 5 pages, minor change
