    Devices that are used in the aerospace industry must operate in extreme conditions, so it is important to understand how the properties of materials change under the influence of radiation and low temperatures. Anodic aluminum oxide, due to its mechanical and dielectric properties, is widely used in electronic devices with a high degree of integration. Radiation exposure can lead to degradation of the electrophysical parameters of dielectric films and can also change their chemical composition. The methods for studying the effect of radiation exposure on the dielectric properties of films are shown in this article.     Today, using of nanostructured materials in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) is very perspective. One of such materials is anodic aluminum oxide that has electrical and mechanical properties not worse than other materials that are currently used in manufacturing of MEMS devices.     Weak Turbulent Kolmogorov Spectrum for Surface Gravity Waves

    We study the long-time evolution of gravity waves on deep water exited by the stochastic external force concentrated in moderately small wave numbers. We numerically implement the primitive Euler equations for the potential flow of an ideal fluid with free surface written in canonical variables, using expansion of the Hamiltonian in powers of nonlinearity of up to fourth order terms. We show that due to nonlinear interaction processes a stationary energy spectrum close to kk7/2|k| \sim k^{-7/2} is formed. The observed spectrum can be interpreted as a weak-turbulent Kolmogorov spectrum for a direct cascade of energy.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure

    Coexistence of Weak and Strong Wave Turbulence in a Swell Propagation

    By performing two parallel numerical experiments -- solving the dynamical Hamiltonian equations and solving the Hasselmann kinetic equation -- we examined the applicability of the theory of weak turbulence to the description of the time evolution of an ensemble of free surface waves (a swell) on deep water. We observed qualitative coincidence of the results. To achieve quantitative coincidence, we augmented the kinetic equation by an empirical dissipation term modelling the strongly nonlinear process of white-capping. Fitting the two experiments, we determined the dissipation function due to wave breaking and found that it depends very sharply on the parameter of nonlinearity (the surface steepness). The onset of white-capping can be compared to a second-order phase transition.     The article analyses material from sheep domestication to the present state. Data on the world’s leading countries, where sheep breeding is most intensively developed, are given. The largest sheep populations are concentrated in China, Australia, India and Sudan. There are 995 registered local sheep breeds, of which 100 are international cross-border sheep breeds. Many species are continually becoming extinct. Therefore, the problem of preserving the unique gene pool of aboriginal breeds is acute in many countries. More than 20 breeds of sheep are bred in Kazakhstan. Over the last ten years, the number of sheep in the Republic has been between 18.0-20.0 million. The most widespread sheep breeds are Edilbay, Kazakh Arkharmerinos and Kazakh Kurdish coarse-wool sheep. Sheep of the Edilbay breed are bred in 10 regions of Kazakhstan. Edilbay breed is adapted to breeding in areas of dry steppes, semi-desert and desert regions. The article gives a brief zootechnical characteristic of Edilbay sheep and describes the epizootic situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Particular attention is paid to changing the breeding strategy. In further breeding and pedigree work, the aim is to create a sheep population with reduced fat content. A plan has been outlined for comprehensive studies of the sheep gene pool and phenofund, including evaluating protein, carbohydrate, fat and mineral metabolism, chemical, physiological, cytogenetic, molecular-genetic, and other research methods. Water, soil, and feed will be monitored for heavy metals and macronutrients during the experimental work.Проанализированы материалы от момента одомашнивания овец до современного состояния овцеводства. Приведены данные о ведущих странах мира, где наиболее интенсивно развивается овцеводство. Наибольшее поголовье овец сосредоточено в Китае, Австралии, Индии и Судане. Зарегистрировано 995 местных пород овец, из которых 100 относятся к международным трансграничным. Постоянно происходит исчезновение многих пород. Поэтому во многих странах остро стоит проблема сохранения уникального генофонда аборигенных пород. В Казахстане разводят более 20 пород овец. За последние 10 лет численность овец в республике находилась в пределах 18,0–20,0 млн голов. Наибольшее распространение получили такие породы овец, как эдильбаевская, казахский архаромеринос и казахская курдючная грубошерстная. Овец эдильбаевской породы в Республике Казахстан разводят в 10 областях. Эдильбаевская порода приспособлена к разведению в зонах сухих степей, полупустынных и пустынных регионов. В статье дана краткая зоотехническая характеристика эдильбаевских овец, описана эпизоотическая обстановка в Республике Казахстан. Особое внимание уделено изменению стратегии селекции. В дальнейшей селекционно-племенной работе поставлена задача создания популяции овец с уменьшенным содержанием жира. Намечен план комплексных исследований генофонда и фенофонда овец, включающий оценку белкового, углеводного, жирового и минерального обменов, использование химических, физиологических, цитогенетических, молекулярно-генетических и других методов исследований. Во время экспериментальной работы нами будет проведен мониторинг воды, почвы и кормов на содержание тяжелых металлов и макроэлементов

    Numerical Verification of the Weak Turbulent Model for Swell Evolution

    The purpose of this article is numerical verification of the theory of weak turbulence. We performed numerical simulation of an ensemble of nonlinearly interacting free gravity waves (swell) by two different methods: solution of primordial dynamical equations describing potential flow of the ideal fluid with a free surface and, solution of the kinetic Hasselmann equation, describing the wave ensemble in the framework of the theory of weak turbulence. In both cases we observed effects predicted by this theory: frequency downshift, angular spreading and formation of Zakharov-Filonenko spectrum Iωω4I_{\omega} \sim \omega^{-4}. To achieve quantitative coincidence of the results obtained by different methods, one has to supply the Hasselmann kinetic equation by an empirical dissipation term SdissS_{diss} modeling the coherent effects of white-capping. Using of the standard dissipation terms from operational wave predicting model ({\it WAM}) leads to significant improvement on short times, but not resolve the discrepancy completely, leaving the question about optimal choice of SdissS_{diss} open.     Quality of colonoscopy in an emerging country: A prospective, multicentre study in Russia

    Background: The quality of colonoscopy has been related to a higher risk of interval cancer, and this issue has been addressed extensively in developed countries. The aim of our study was to explore the main quality indicators of colonoscopy in a large emerging country. Methods: Consecutive patients referred for colonoscopy in 14 centres were prospectively included between July and October 2014. Before colonoscopy, several clinical and demographic variables were collected. Main quality indicators (i.e. caecal intubation rate, (advanced) adenoma detection rate, rate of adequate cleansing and sedation) were collected. Data were analysed at per patient and per centre level (only for those with at least 100 cases). Factors associated with caecal intubation rate and adenoma detection rate were explored at multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 8829 (males: 35%; mean age: 57 + 14 years) patients were included, with 11 centres enrolling at least 100 patients. Screening (including non-alarm symptoms) accounted for 59% (5188/8829) of the indications. Sedation and split preparation were used in 26% (2294/8829) and 25% (2187/8829) of the patients. Caecal intubation was achieved in 7616 patients (86%), and it was ≥85% in 8/11 (73%) centres. Adenoma detection rate was 18% (1550/8829), and it was higher than 20% in five (45%) centres, whilst it was lower than 10% in four (33%) centres. At multivariate analysis, age (OR: 1.020, 95% CI: 1.015–1.024), male sex (OR: 1.2, 95% CI: 1.1–1.3), alarm symptoms (OR: 1.8, 95% CI: 1.7–2), split preparation (OR: 1.4, 95% CI: 1.2–1.6), caecal intubation rate (OR: 1.6, 95% CI: 1.3–1.9) and withdrawal time measurement (OR: 1.2, 95% CI: 1.6–2.1) were predictors of a higher adenoma detection rate, while adequate preparation (OR: 3.4: 95% CI: 2.9–3.9) and sedation (OR: 1.3; 95% CI: 1.1–1.6) were the strongest predictors of caecal intubation rate. Conclusions: According to our study, there is a substantial intercentre variability in the main quality indicators. Overall, the caecal intubation rate appears to be acceptable in most centres, whilst the overall level of adenoma detection appears low, with less than half of the centres being higher than 20%. Educational and quality assurance programs, including higher rates of sedation and split regimen of preparation, may be necessary to increase the key quality indicators

    Discovery of new colonies by Sentinel2 reveals good and bad news for emperor

    The distribution of emperor penguins is circumpolar, with 54 colony locations currently reported of which 50 are currently extant as of 2019. Here we report on eight newly discovered colonies and confirm the rediscovery of three breeding sites, only previously reported in the era before Very High Resolution satellite imagery was available, making a total of 61 breeding locations. This represents an increase of ~20% in the number of breeding sites, but, as most of the colonies appear to be small, they may only increase the total population by around 5–10%. The discoveries have been facilitated by the use of Sentinel2 satellite imagery, which has a higher resolution and more efficient search mechanism than the Landsat data previously used to search for colonies. The small size of these new colonies indicates that considerations of reproductive output in relation to metabolic rate during huddling is likely to be of interest. Some of the colonies exist in offshore habitats, something not previously reported for emperor penguins. Comparison with recent modelling results show that the geographic locations of all the newly found colonies are in areas likely to be highly vulnerable under business‐as‐usual greenhouse gas emissions scenarios, suggesting that population decreases for the species will be greater than previously thought
