    Qubits entanglement dynamics modified by an effective atomic environment

    We study entanglement dynamics of a couple of two-level atoms resonantly interacting with a cavity mode and embedded in a dispersive atomic environment. We show that in the absence of the environment the entanglement reaches its maximum value when only one exitation is involved. Then, we find that the atomic environment modifies that entanglement dynamics and induces a typical collapse-revival structure even for an initial one photon Fock state of the field.Comment: eight pages, two figure include

    Electronic structure of the double perovskite Ba2Er(Nb,Sb)O 6

    In this work, we present a detailed study of the structural and the electronic structure of the double perovskite Ba2Er(Nb,Sb)O 6. All calculations were performed with the Full-Potential Linear Augmented Plane Wave method (FP-LAPW) based on the Density Functional Theory (DFT). From the minimization of energy as a function of volume using the Murnaghan's state equation has been obtained the equilibrium lattice parameter and the bulk modulus of these compounds. The study of the electronic structure was based in the analysis of the electronic density of states (DOS), and the density of charge, showing that these compounds have a total magnetic moment of 3.0 μB per formula unit due to Er atoms.Fil: Gil Rebaza, Arles Víctor.     Sex Determination by Observation of Barr Body in Teeth Subjected to High Temperatures

A useful histological method for sex determination is the observation of Barr chromatin or Barr body. This study determines the effect of high temperatures on the diagnostic performance of the Barr chromatin observation on teeth. Were used 50 healthy teeth from 25 male and 25 female individuals aged between 14 and 44 years. The teeth were divided into 5 groups (each group with 5 female and 5 male teeth) and were exposed to controlled temperatures of 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 degrees C for 5 minutes. The coronal pulp was obtained and the tissue was processed and stained with hematoxylin-eosin. Four histological slides of male and 4 of female individuals were randomly selected, for each temperature level, which were observed by conventional microscopy at 100X magnification, each showing 50 cells per plate. The presence of 1 cell with visible sex chromatin was considered positive for females. It was only possible to evaluate the samples from groups subjected to 200 and 400 degrees C. In the groups analyzed, the test showed 100% accuracy. The average number of cells found to be positive Barr chromatin was 15 (SD 3.9) at 200 degrees C and 11 (SD 2.8) at 400 degrees C. Hence, it was possible to detect the sex at these temperatures by observing chromatin of the Barr body in dental pulp

    Investigation of acceptor levels and hole scattering mechanisms in p-gallium selenide by means of transport measurements under pressure

    The effect of pressure on acceptor levels and hole scattering mechanisms in p-GaSe is investigated through Hall effect and resistivity measurements under quasi-hydrostatic conditions up to 4 GPa. The pressure dependence of the hole concentration is interpreted through a carrier statistics equation with a single (nitrogen) or double (tin) acceptor whose ionization energies decrease under pressure due to the dielectric constant increase. The pressure effect on the hole mobility is also accounted for by considering the pressure dependencies of both the phonon frequencies and the hole-phonon coupling constants involved in the scattering rates.Comment: 13 pages, Latex, 4 ps figures. to appear in High Pressure Research 69 (1997

    Scaling law for the transient behavior of type-II neuron models

    We study the transient regime of type-II biophysical neuron models and determine the scaling behavior of relaxation times τ\tau near but below the repetitive firing critical current, τ≃C(Ic−I)−Δ\tau \simeq C (I_c-I)^{-\Delta}. For both the Hodgkin-Huxley and Morris-Lecar models we find that the critical exponent is independent of the numerical integration time step and that both systems belong to the same universality class, with Δ=1/2\Delta = 1/2. For appropriately chosen parameters, the FitzHugh-Nagumo model presents the same generic transient behavior, but the critical region is significantly smaller. We propose an experiment that may reveal nontrivial critical exponents in the squid axon.Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.

    Evaluation of Soil Test Phosphorus Extractants and Tissue Analysis for Corn

    The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship of four different soil test phosphorus methods (Mehlich 3, Bray 1, Bray 2, and Haney H3A) for corn production, and determine critical P tissue concentration at different growing stages. The experiment was conducted at 12 locations, and the fertilizer treatments consisted of five phosphorus fertilizer rates applied by broadcast pre-plant. Soil samples were collected at 0- to 6-in. depth, then samples were collected before treatment application by block. Tissue samples were collected at the V6 and R1 growth stages. The relationship between the different soil test phosphorus methods and the R2 varies between 0.24–0.93. Mehlich 3 and Bray 1 have a higher correlation, and Bray 1 and Bray 2 have a lower correlation. Linear plateau determined the critical phosphorus levels for the V6 growth stage was 0.42%, and for the R1 stage was 0.22%. The relationship between the concentration at V6 and R1 was moderately correlated with R2 = 0.62, having a higher phosphorus concentration in the early stage

    Early-Season Corn Response to Broadcast Pre-Plant Phosphorus Fertilizer Application

    The objective of this study was to evaluate early-season corn response to different rates of preplant broadcast phosphorus fertilizer and determine the optimum levels using four different soil test methods. The study was conducted in 11 locations across Kansas in 2021. The experimental design is a randomized complete block design with four replications. Fertilizer treatment consisted of five rates of phosphorus fertilizer (0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 lb/a of P2O5). Fertilizer was applied one time by broadcast pre-plant. Soil samples were collected at 0- to 6-in. deep before treatment application, composited by blocks, and analyzed for soil test phosphorus using Mehlich 3, Haney H3A, Bray 1, and Bray 2 test methods. Whole plant sampling at V6 was collected for phosphorus uptake analysis. Results show that using early season phosphorus uptake response provided critical levels of 23 and 17 ppm of phosphorus for the Mehlich 3 and Bray 1 methods, respectively. For the Haney H3A method, the critical level was estimated at 15 ppm and for the Bray 2 method had an estimated critical value of 69 ppm.
