    BIPOLAR AFFECTIVE DISORDER CURRENTLY MANIA WITH PSYCHOTIC FEATURES: According to the informant, 5week back, patient was noticed by his mother to be awake frequently during the night. He would be going through the religious books. Gradually he was observed to be sleeping less and spending long hours with his books. He would turn irritable if his mother asked him to rest. He would disturb his mother during night and insist that she listen to his plans of making a new business. At times he would abuse, assault his mother especially if she asked him to stop talking. He would start singing suggestive songs and dancing whenever he saw a girl passing by for which he was frequently warned. He would talk about past happenings, about how his friends cheated him and were jealous of him, continuously creating problems so that his plans were spoiled. He would be seen sitting on bed, talking as though he were speaking to somebody in front of him. No history of hearing voices, suicidal ideas. No history of substance abuse, head injury or fits. PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA: Mrs. E, got married 3 yrs ago, she was normal upto One year after marriage, then husband noticed that she did not mingle with family members and preferred to stay alone. Initially she suspected her husband that her husband had physical relationship with many women, then she suspected that her husband had physical relationship with her sister. and she complained to her mother that her neighbours were always talking about her, They planned to harm her. She quarreled with her neighbours and assaulted them. 2 weeks later, she suspected that her family members mixed poison in her food, gradually she began to talk alone; not do her routine house hold activities .she had decreased appetite. She did not take food in adequate amount. She did not take care of her personal hygiene as before. She took bath and brushed her on compulsion by her mother. No H/O Repetitive thoughts and acts. No H/O head injury /seizures. No H/O suicidal ideation /attempt. ALCOHOL DEPENDENCE SYNDROME: The patient who was brought by his wife, he started to use alcohol 21 yrs ago along with his friends for pleasure, he gradually increases frequency as well as quantity over the time. For the past 5 yrs he used to have almost daily and start to have early in the morning, he was an auto driver, for his alcoholic behavior he spent most of the money for alcohol and frequent absent in work so his productivity decreased. Because of that he had frequent interpersonal problem with wife. Before 1 week for the welfare of the family and concern with his physical condition he quit alcohol since he had sleeplessness. No H/O withdrawal Seizures | Suicide Attempt No H/O head injury | Seizures | hemetemesis | Malena. MENTAL RETARDATION- MODERATE: Patient was married 5 yrs ago, since marriage itself she didn’t do any basic routine activities, initially husband tried to train her but he was unable to do so, she always prefered to simply sit in home. gradually she was able to do simple activities like cleaning house but that too not completely. She was not interested in her personal hygiene, she could do only after repeated instruction by husband, for past 2 months she was aggressive and threw the things in home and inappropriately crying most of the time. No H/O Head injury / loc. No H/O Seizures. No H/O Fever before the onset of illness. No H/O Suicidal ideation / attempt. OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER: As per the patient, he started having his problems insidiously, beginning with doubts about simple activities like locking a door, counting money, etc. He had to check and recheck to satisfy himself. This progressed to irrational thoughts that his hand would be contaminated and subsequent repeating washing of his hand. He recognized these thoughts as his own and irrational unwanted ones, but he could not control the anxiety associated with this. But his anxiety was not associated with palpitations, tremor, sweating and difficulty in breathing. He took more time to bathe and wash, he was unable to concentrate any work and produced significant impairment in his studies and daily activities. No h/o head injury, seizures, talking to self, hearing voices. No h/o suicidal attempt, Ideation

FACTS devices come under the influence of power electronics equipment. Distributed Power Flow Controller is a FACTS device used for damping low frequency oscillation with new controlling approach. It is valid for a wide range of the operating condition. In this work explain the basic model and its steady state operation, mathematical analysis injection of current control model of the DPFC. Using damping controller used in DPFC facts device as input to implement the task of power oscillation damping .Here this work had a brief study on damping, terminal voltage and excitation voltage at different load conditions, simulation results demonstrate damping low frequency oscillation at nominal, light and heavy loading condition

    Neoadjuvant Chemoradiation in Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer

    BACKGROUND: At Cancer Institute, the usual protocol for locally advanced rectal cancer is neo-adjuvant chemo-radiation followed by surgery. The chemotherapy schedule used is Mitomycin-c and 5-Flurouracil concurrently with radiation. In order to analyze the effect of this multimodal approach, this study was planned. AIM OF THE STUDY: To study the outcome of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated with neo-adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Institute from 2002 to 2006. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 224 patients with locally advanced (T2-T4/N0-N2 disease), pathologically confirmed adenocarcinoma of the rectum, without detectable distant metastasis at presentation, and who were registered at the Institute between January 2002 to December 2006, were taken up for the study. Those patients who had already undergone specific treatment for the rectal cancer were not included. Pre-treatment Workup: The pre-treatment workup included: 1. Detailed history, 2. Complete physical examination including detailed rectal examination, 3. Hematology and biochemistry, 4. Chest X Ray, ECG and Echo, 5. Colonoscopy, 6. Histopathological examination, 7. CT Scan Abdomen and pelvis, 8. CEA. RESULTS: A total of 224 patients with locally advanced (T2-T4/N0-N2 disease), pathologically confirmed adenocarcinoma of the rectum, without detectable distant metastasis, registered at the Institute between January 2002 to December 2006, were taken up for this study. CONCLUSION: Neoadjuvant chemoration followed by radical surgery has shown very satisfactory results in the management of locally advanced rectal cancers

    Pengembangan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Handep Untuk Pembelajaran Matematika

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif berbasis mekanisme gotong royong Handep. Handep adalah bentuk gotong royong suku Dayak Kalimantan Tengah. Model pembelajaran diberi nama Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif (MPK) Handep. Pengembangan MPKHandep dilakukan dengan menyusun buku ajar tentang MPK Handep. Hasil pengembangan divalidasi melalui uji ahli Teknolog Pembelajaran dalam tiga tahapan, dan disimpulkan bahwa preskripsi komponen-komponen MPK Handep telah layak dijadikan sebagai model pembelajaran. Validasi kelompok kecil menunjukkan, MPK Handep telah memenuhi prinsip-prinsip pembelajaran efektif (95,59%), elemen-elemen pembelajaran kooperatif (98,68%), dan kaidah-kaidah Quantum Teaching(75%). Ketercapaian penguasaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah kajian himpunan sebagai dampak instruksional (92%) dan penguasaan keterampilan sosial (91,7%) sebagai dampak pengiring implementasi MPK Handep. The purpose of research developed cooperative learning model based on mechanism of mutual cooperation handep. Handep is the form of collaboration in Dayak Ngaju tribe (Central Kalimantan). The models of teaching and learning namely Handep Cooperative Learning. The model was developed by designing theoretical model of MPK Handep and then validation that model. Cooperative Learning Handep validated by expert in Instructional Technology in three phases and field research in small group of students. The result from the expert validation, that Cooperative Learing Handep prescriptions was sufficiently as a model of learning. The result from field research, that Cooperative Learning Handep were sufficiently for the principles of learning effective (95,59%), the elements of cooperative learning (98,68%), and principles of the Quantum Teaching (75%). Problem solving ability as instructional effect was achieved (92%) and social skill as nurturant effect (91,70%)

    La Informática se encuentra simultáneamente en todas partes, se entremezcla discretamente en la vida diaria a través de dispositivos integrados en los objetos cotidianos, de manera que las personas interactúan con ella de modo natural en todo tipo de situaciones y circunstancias. El impacto de la informática ubicua se produce en los diversos ambientes donde el aprendizaje tiene lugar, ya que provee información, oportunidades para compartirla y construir conocimiento posibilitando un aprendizaje ubicuo. El estudiante universitario se desenvuelve en este contexto y el docente, en el rol de guía, puede generar un ambiente de aprendizaje más creativo mediante estrategias didácticas innovadoras. La finalidad del proyecto “Informática ubicua: su aplicación en el contexto universitario” es diseñar un modelo de entorno de aprendizaje ubicuo ajustado al contexto universitario a partir de un enfoque sistémico. Para ello se analizarán cualitativa y cuantitativamente experiencias de e-learning, b-learning, p-learning en las carreras de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Tecnologías de la Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero, como antecedentes del aprendizaje ubicuo.     Estrategia de gestión intrainstitucional para la mejora de la calidad de la formación docente de carreras de la unse: un proyecto de cooperación integrando las tic

    La Formación Docente es una variable fundamental a considerar en la mejora de la calidad de la educación. Los Profesorados Universitarios y especialmente el Profesorado en Informática de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Tecnologías de la Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero (UNSE) asumen el desafío de la capacitación de los agentes educativos en la integración de las Tecnologías de la Información y de la Comunicación (TIC) en la educación. Esta carrera, incluye en el tramo final del Plan de Estudios la asignatura: Residencia cuyo objeto de estudio es la práctica educativa en contextos reales. Ahora bien, las TIC pasaron a formar parte de toda organización, y en cuanto a la educación, han transformado las formas y modos en que se genera, gestiona y difunde la información y el conocimiento. La formación docente no es ajena a esta circunstancia, por lo cual en diferentes asignaturas de la carrera se incluyen temáticas en torno a TIC y se están incorporando paulatinamente prácticas en el marco de Residencia. En nuestro ámbito universitario existen inconvenientes para encontrar espacios reales en los cuales los alumnos de Residencia puedan realizar experiencias concretas en nuevos ambientes de enseñanza - aprendizaje basados en TIC, lo cual genera una limitación en la formación de competencias. Dentro del mismo marco institucional, funciona una Unidad Académica denominada, Escuela para la Innovación Educativa que ofrece carreras de complementación curricular y carreras cortas, además está ampliando su oferta académica y las modalidades de dictado de sus carreras. En este sentido inició la implementación de un campus virtual sobre el soporte de la plataforma Moodle, para implementar cursos a distancia y complementar los cursos presenciales con instancias no presenciales, por lo cual necesita fortalecerse para integrar eficientemente las TIC como herramientas didácticas que permitan mejorar la calidad de los procesos de enseñanza y de aprendizaje.     Assessment of Water Quality of Peddacheruvu, Sambaiah Cheruvu, Gaddapotharam and Rudraram Cheruvu of Medak District

    In the present study, an attempt is made to analyze the physico-chemical aspects along with trace elements and organics of four different lake waters of the industrial area of Medak district namely - Gaddapotharam, Peddacheruvu, Sambaiah & Rudraram cheruvu. The lake water analysis shows that among all the lakes, Gaddapotharam Lake is the highly polluted lake followed by Rudraram Lake. Peddacheruvu and Sambaiah lakes might be polluted due to rainwater/storm water discharges. The results clearly show that majority of water quality parameters such as Chemical Oxygen Demand, chlorides and dissolved solids are quite high. This might be due to the collection of samples in summer during which the pollutants might have got concentrated and hence the analysis results are observed to be high. The levels of pollutants are found to be high at the inlet areas of the lakes close to industrial area. In addition, high levels in some sites are also due to agricultural and sewage drainages of some villages. Moreover, it is also observed that during midsummer all the lakes have dried up except for Gaddapotharam Lake. The dry sediments can be removed by digging out and replacing the bottom with good soil cover which will support aquatic life of the clean water that may enter with rainfall

    Regulation of Cytosolic Phospholipase A 2 Activation and Cyclooxygenase 2 Expression in Macrophages by the β-Glucan Receptor

    Phagocytosis of non-opsonized microorganisms by macrophages initiates innate immune responses for host defense against infection. Cytosolic phospholipase A(2) is activated during phagocytosis, releasing arachidonic acid for production of eicosanoids, which initiate acute inflammation. Our objective was to identify pattern recognition receptors that stimulate arachidonic acid release and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) expression in macrophages by pathogenic yeast and yeast cell walls. Zymosan- and Candida albicans-stimulated arachidonic acid release from resident mouse peritoneal macrophages was blocked by soluble glucan phosphate. In RAW264.7 cells arachidonic acid release, COX2 expression, and prostaglandin production were enhanced by overexpressing the beta-glucan receptor, dectin-1, but not dectin-1 lacking the cytoplasmic tail. Pure particulate (1, 3)-beta-D-glucan stimulated arachidonic acid release and COX2 expression, which were augmented in a Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2)-dependent manner by macrophage-activating lipopeptide-2. However, arachidonic acid release and leukotriene C(4) production stimulated by zymosan and C. albicans were TLR2-independent, whereas COX2 expression and prostaglandin production were partially blunted in TLR2(-/-) macrophages. Inhibition of Syk tyrosine kinase blocked arachidonic acid release and COX2 expression in response to zymosan, C. albicans, and particulate (1, 3)-beta-D-glucan. The results suggest that cytosolic phospholipase A(2) activation triggered by the beta-glucan component of yeast is dependent on the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif-like domain of dectin-1 and activation of Syk kinase, whereas both TLR2 and Syk kinase regulate COX2 expression
