Estado Confusional Agudo após Corticoterapia Inalada
Background: The connection between corticotherapy and neuropsychiatric symptoms is
widely known, being one of the first questions
we need to assess when presenting with first
episode psychiatric symptoms or confusional
state.
Aims: To date, data on cases related to inhaled
corticotherapy and neuropsychiatric effects is
scarce. In this paper we describe a rare case in
a young woman.
Methods: The clinical case presented led us
to try to understand the data published on the
subject in order to discuss it in greater length.
Results and Conclusions: We present and
discuss a 27-year-old patient’s case, with no
previous psychiatric disease, who was admitted to our Psychiatric ward after the onset of
severe acute behavioural disturbance characterized by aggressiveness, visual and auditory
hallucinatory activity, misidentification and
altered conscience status. It was later found
that seven days earlier she had been prescribed
inhaled corticotherapy for a minor respiratory
infection. A few days after corticotherapy withdrawal, the clinical symptoms improved significantly.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Expansão para oeste do peixe-gato-europeu Silurus glanis no rio Douro (Portugal)
The current study reports the first occurrence and the spread of the European catfish Silurus glanis (Family: Siluridae) in the
Portuguese section of the Douro River, suggesting a potential expansion of its distribution in Portugal either via westward dispersal across international rivers and/or human-assisted introductions into new reservoirs and drainages. The European catfish
has unique features (e.g., opportunistic predator, hunting, and aggregation behaviour) that make it highly suitable for establishing self-sustaining populations in new areas and likely contribute to its invasion success. The species may severely affect native
prey communities and modify food web structure and ecosystem functioning. Efficient and sustainable management actions are
needed to prevent further introductions in the future.O presente estudo relata a primeira ocorrência do peixe-gato-europeu Silurus glanis (Família: Siluridae) no troço português
do rio Douro, sugerindo uma potencial expansão da sua distribuição em Portugal através da dispersão natural da espécie para

Solitons in systems of coupled scalar fields
We present a method to obtain soliton solutions to relativistic system of
coupled scalar fields. This is done by examining the energy associated to
static field configurations. In this case we derive a set of first-order
differential equations that solve the equations of motion when the energy
saturates its lower bound. To illustrate the general results, we investigate
some systems described by polynomial interactions in the coupled fields.Comment: RevTex4, 5 page
Chemical abundances for the transiting planet host stars OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and TrES-1. Abundances in different galactic populations
We used the UVES spectrograph (VLT-UT2 telescope) to obtain high-resolution
spectra of 6 stars hosting transiting planets, namely for OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111,
113, 132 and TrES-1. The spectra are now used to derive and discuss the
chemical abundances for C, O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni,
Cu and Zn. Abundances were derived in LTE, using 1-D plane-parallel Kurucz
model atmospheres. For S, Zn and Cu we used a spectral synthesis procedure,
while for the remaining cases the abundances were derived from measurements of
line-equivalent widths. The resulting abundances are compared with those found
for stars in the solar neighborhood. Distances and galactic coordinates are
estimated for the stars. We conclude that besides being particularly
metal-rich, with small possible exceptions OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and
TrES-1 are chemically undistinguishable from the field (thin disk) stars
regarding their [X/Fe] abundances. This is particularly relevant for the most
distant of the targets, located at up to ~2 Kpc from the Sun. We also did not
find any correlation between the abundances and the condensation temperature of
the elements, an evidence that strong accretion of planetary-like material,

Conservation of Orbital Angular Momentum in Stimulated Down-Conversion
We report on an experiment demonstrating the conservation of orbital angular
momentum in stimulated down-conversion. The orbital angular momentum is not
transferred to the individual beams of the spontaneous down-conversion, but it
is conserved when twin photons are taken individually. We observe the
conservation law for an individual beam of the down-conversion through

The study of dihedral f-tilings of the Euclidean sphere

Efficacy of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty on Dysfunctional Fistulae Because of Inflow Stenosis
PURPOSE:
Autogenous fistulas are the preferential vascular access for hemodialysis. The aim of this retrospective study was to determine the efficacy of angioplasty for dysfunctional fistulas because of inflow dysfunction.
METHODS:
We reviewed all the angiographic procedures performed on our institution between April 2007 and April 2009. Procedures performed in dysfunctional fistulas because of inflow stenoses were analyzed. Fistulas with stenoses out of these areas were excluded. The following data were collected: patient age and sex, fistula age at the time of intervention, location of fistula, number and location of stenosis, angiography referral criteria, clinical findings (presence or absence of thrills, bruits and pulsatility) and date of reintervention or failure.
RESULTS:
During the study period 215 fistulas were submitted to angiography of which, seventy-one presented inflow stenosis (33%). Mean follow-up was 21.72±9.26 months, and average age was 7.03 months. Two groups were considered: 31 fistulas comprising ≤6 months old, and 40 fistulas >6 months old. Primary patency rates±SE for older fistulas at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months, respectively, was 91.3%± 0.04%, 80.7%± 0.07%, 53.8% ±0.10% and 34.2±0.1% versus 91.7±0.08%, 57.1±0.14%, 23±0.14%, 11.4%± 0.1% for younger fistulas (P=0.04). Fistulas ≤6 months old and multiple stenosis were associated with a poorer primary patency rate (P=0.005).
CONCLUSIONS:
Inflow stenosis is frequently associated with fistula dysfunction. In this study we only analyzed AVF with inflow stenosis and we have shown that angioplasty can have great patency results, particularly for single lesions in matured fistulas.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
