Quantum Cosmology in Scalar-Tensor Theories With Non Minimal Coupling

Quantization in the minisuperspace of non minimal scalar-tensor theories leads to a partial differential equation which is non separable. Through a conformal transformation we can recast the Wheeler-DeWitt equation in an integrable form, which corresponds to the minimal coupling case, whose general solution is known. Performing the inverse conformal transformation in the solution so found, we can construct the corresponding one in the original frame. This procedure can also be employed with the bohmian trajectories. In this way, we can study the classical limit of some solutions of this quantum model. While the classical limit of these solutions occurs for small scale factors in the Einstein's frame, it happens for small values of the scalar field non minimally coupled to gravity in the Jordan's frame, which includes large scale factors.Comment: latex, 18 page

Avaliação do valor nutritivo do bagaço de cana-de-açúcar amonizado com uréia.

Resumo: O trabalho foi desenvolvido objetivando-se avaliar o efeito da adição de uréia em doses crescentes, na presença ou ausência de urease, sobre o valor nutritivo do bagaço de cana-de-açúcar. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em arranjo fatorial (4 x 2) + 1 (controle), com quatro repetições. Os fatores avaliados foram níveis de uréia (2,0; 4,0; 6,0; e 8,0% da matéria seca), níveis de urease (presença, 20,0% da matéria fresca da uréia, e ausência) e um tratamento controle (0,0% de uréia e ausência de urease). Houve efeito da adição de uréia (63,3%) em relação ao controle (69,6%) e efeito da presença de urease (64,4%) em relação à sua ausência (62,1%), para o teor de matéria seca (MS). O menor teor de MS (62,5%) foi observado no nível de 6,2% de uréia. O teor de proteína bruta (PB) cresceu linearmente com a adição de uréia (12,0%) em relação ao controle (1,2%), sem urease. O teor de fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) dos materiais amonizados (81,4%) foi menor que o controle (84,7%), com efeito linear negativo das doses crescentes de uréia. Houve teores mais elevados de FDN nos tratamentos com presença de urease (82,1%) em relação aos tratamentos sem a mesma (80,8%). A digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (DIVMS) média do tratamento controle (23,2%) foi inferior à DIVMS média dos tratamentos com uréia (28,5%), com efeito linear positivo dos níveis crescentes de uréia. Não houve efeito da urease sobre a DIVMS do bagaço. A amonização com uréia melhorou o valor nutritivo do bagaço de cana-de-açúcar, sem a necessidade de adição de urease. [Evaluation of the Nutritive Value of Sugarcane Bagasse Ammoniated with Urea]. Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the addition of crescent levels of urea, with or without urease, on sugarcane bagasse nutritive value. The experimental design was a completely randomized design in a factorial arrangement (4 x 2) + 1 (control), with four replicates. The evaluated factors were urea levels (2.0, 4.0, 6.0 and 8.0% DM), urease levels (presence - 20% of urea fresh matter - and absence) and a control treatment (0.0% urea and without urease). There was an effect of urea addition (63.3%) on the control (69.6%) and effect of urease presence (64.4%) on its absence (62.1%) for the dry matter (DM) content. The smallest estimated DM content (62.5%) was observed at 6.2% urea level. The crude protein (CP) content linearly increased with the addition of crescentlevels of urea (12.0%) as compared to the control (1.2%), without urease effect. The neutral detergent fiber (NDF) content of ammoniated materials (81.4%) was smaller than the control (84.7%), with a negative linear effect of the crescent levels of urea. There was higher NDF content in the treatments with the presence of urease (82.1%) than on the treatments without urease (80.8%). The average in vitro dry matter disappearance (IVDMD) of the control treatment (23.2%) was lower than average urea addition treatments (28.5%), with positive linear effect by the crescent addition of the urea levels. There was no urease effect on IVDMD. The ammoniation with urea improved the sugar cane bagasse nutritive value, without necessity to add urease

Os cenários nacional e mundial apontam o Brasil como grande produtor e exportador deste cereal hoje e nos próximos anos. Entretanto, o aperfeiçoamento dos mercados consumidores, interno e externo, e a mudança de hábitos alimentares vêm pressionando os sistemas produtivos para atenderem as novas exigências por alimentos seguros e por sustentabilidade ambiental. No sentido de avançar para a transformação da produção convencional em uma produção tecnológica e sustentável, e promover maior competitividade da produção nos mercados consumidores, as Boas Práticas Agrícolas (BPA) surgem como uma etapa inicial da modernização da produção agropecuária, para ascender à Produção Integrada (PI). Com isso, será possível garantir a segurança e a qualidade de produtos, incrementar a produção, a produtividade e a competitividade, além de atender às exigências dos mercados internacionais e à legislação brasileira. Gravitational field around a time-like current-carrying screwed cosmic string in scalar-tensor theories

In this paper we obtain the space-time generated by a time-like current-carrying superconducting screwed cosmic string(TCSCS). This gravitational field is obtained in a modified scalar-tensor theory in the sense that torsion is taken into account. We show that this solution is comptible with a torsion field generated by the scalar field $\phi$. The analysis of gravitational effects of a TCSCS shows up that the torsion effects that appear in the physical frame of Jordan-Fierz can be described in a geometric form given by contorsion term plus a symmetric part which contains the scalar gradient. As an important application of this solution, we consider the linear perturbation method developed by Zel'dovich, investigate the accretion of cold dark matter due to the formation of wakes when a TCSCS moves with speed $v$ and discuss the role played by torsion. Sistema de produção integrada de milho para região Central de Minas Gerais.

Nos cenários nacional e internacional de produção de milho, o Brasil vem experimentando uma evolução crescente. Além da autossuficiência na produção para consumo interno, o país apresenta um aumento anual do excedente para exportação. Apesar da oferta de alimentos, a mudança de hábitos alimentares experimentada pelo amadurecimento dos mercados consumidores, tanto o interno como o externo, pressiona os sistemas produtivos para atenderem as novas exigências por alimentos seguros e sustentabilidade ambiental. Na busca para qualificar os seus produtos, o Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento vem fomentando um programa do Governo Federal denominado “Produção Integrada Agropecuária (PI-Brasil)”. Este programa visa apoiar a transformação da produção convencional em tecnológica, com sustentabilidade no uso dos recursos, e torná-la rastreável pelo monitoramento e registro de todas as etapas da produção, e certificável, quando cumprir todos os requisitos do programa. O programa abrange um conjunto de recomendações técnicas direcionadas para a obtenção de produtos de qualidade, principalmente com relação a produtos livres de resíduos de agroquímicos, redução do impacto no meio ambiente do sistema de produção, que atenda à legislação brasileira, bem como alcance potencial para mercados internacionais. Um projeto de Produção Integrada de Milho está sendo coordenado pela Embrapa Milho e Sorgo, em parceria com empresas de assistência técnica e extensão rural e produtores, objetivando alcançar um modelo de produção que englobe aspectos econômicos, ecológicos e sociais, de modo a assegurar uma produção agrícola sustentável e competitiva. The national inventory of geological heritage: methodological approach and results

A existência de um inventário nacional de património geológico é fundamental para se poderem implementar estratégias de geoconservação. Este trabalho apresenta a metodologia usada no desenvolvimento do mais completo inventário de geossítios, realizado até ao momento em Portugal, assim como os principais resultados obtidos. O inventário vai integrar o Sistema de Informação do Património Natural e o Cadastro Nacional dos Valores Naturais Classificados, ambos geridos pelo Instituto de Conservação da Natureza e da Biodiversidade.The existence of a national inventory of the geological heritage is of paramount importance for the implementation of a geoconservation strategy. This paper presents the methodological approach used to produce the most complete geosites inventory in Portugal, so far, and the obtained results. Consumer Complaints and Company Market Value

Consumer complaints affect company market value and common sense suggests that a negative impact is expected. However, do complaints always negatively impact company market value? We hypothesize in this study that complaints may have a non-linear effect on market value. Positive (e.g. avoiding high costs to solve complaints) and negative (e.g. speedy and intense diffusion) tradeoffs may occur given the level of complaints. To test our non-linear hypothesis, a panel data was collected from cell phone service providers from 2005 to 2013. The results supported our tradeoff rationale. Low levels of complaints allow for companies to increase market value, while high levels of complaints cause increasing harm to market value. The sample, model and period considered in this study, indicates a level of 0.49 complaints per thousand consumers as the threshold for a shift in tradeoffs. The effects on market value become increasingly negative when trying to make reductions to move below this level, due to negative tradeoffs

Cause of Death and Predictors of All-Cause Mortality in Anticoagulated Patients With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation : Data From ROCKET AF

Identification of causes of death and contemporary risk factors for all-cause mortality may guide interventions. Methods and Results-In the Rivaroxaban Once Daily Oral Direct Factor Xa Inhibition Compared with Vitamin K Antagonism for Prevention of Stroke and Embolism Trial in Atrial Fibrillation (ROCKET AF) study, patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation were randomized to rivaroxaban or dose-adjusted warfarin. Cox proportional hazards regression with backward elimination identified factors at randomization that were independently associated with all-cause mortality in the 14 171 participants in the intention-to-treat population. The median age was 73 years, and the mean CHADS(2) score was 3.5. Over 1.9 years of median follow-up, 1214 (8.6%) patients died. Kaplan-Meier mortality rates were 4.2% at 1 year and 8.9% at 2 years. The majority of classified deaths (1081) were cardiovascular (72%), whereas only 6% were nonhemorrhagic stroke or systemic embolism. No significant difference in all-cause mortality was observed between the rivaroxaban and warfarin arms (P=0.15).
