Have We Observed the Higgs (Imposter)?
We interpret the new particle at the Large Hadron Collider as a CP-even
scalar and investigate its electroweak quantum number. Assuming an unbroken
custodial invariance as suggested by precision electroweak measurements, only
four possibilities are allowed if the scalar decays to pairs of gauge bosons,
as exemplified by a dilaton/radion, a non-dilatonic electroweak singlet scalar,
an electroweak doublet scalar, and electroweak triplet scalars. We show that
current LHC data already strongly disfavor both the dilatonic and non-dilatonic
singlet imposters. On the other hand, a generic Higgs doublet give excellent
fits to the measured event rates of the newly observed scalar resonance, while
the Standard Model Higgs boson gives a slightly worse overall fit due to the
lack signal in the tau tau channel. The triplet imposter exhibits some tension
with the data. The global fit indicates the enhancement in the diphoton channel
could be attributed to an enhanced partial decay width, while the production
rates are consistent with the Standard Model expectations. We emphasize that
more precise measurements of the ratio of event rates in the WW over ZZ
channels, as well as the event rates in b bbar and tau tau channels, are needed
to further distinguish the Higgs doublet from the triplet imposter.Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures; v2: updated with most recent public data as of

High energy neutrinos from neutralino annihilations in the Sun
Neutralino annihilations in the Sun to weak boson and top quark pairs lead to
high-energy neutrinos that can be detected by the IceCube and KM3 experiments
in the search for neutralino dark matter. We calculate the neutrino signals
from real and virtual WW, ZZ, Zh, and production and decays,
accounting for the spin-dependences of the matrix elements, which can have
important influences on the neutrino energy spectra. We take into account
neutrino propagation including neutrino oscillations, matter-resonance,
absorption, and nu_tau regeneration effects in the Sun and evaluate the
neutrino flux at the Earth. We concentrate on the compelling Focus Point (FP)
region of the supergravity model that reproduces the observed dark matter relic
density. For the FP region, the lightest neutralino has a large bino-higgsino
mixture that leads to a high neutrino flux and the spin-dependent neutralino
capture rate in the Sun is enhanced by 10^3 over the spin-independent rate. For
the standard estimate of neutralino captures, the muon signal rates in IceCube
are identifiable over the atmospheric neutrino background for neutralino masses

Analysis of Logistics in Support of a Human Lunar Outpost
Strategic level analysis of the integrated behavior of lunar transportation system and lunar surface system architecture options is performed to inform NASA Constellation Program senior management on the benefit, viability, affordability, and robustness of system design choices. This paper presents an overview of the approach used to perform the campaign (strategic) analysis, with an emphasis on the logistics modeling and the impacts of logistics resupply on campaign behavior. An overview of deterministic and probabilistic analysis approaches is provided, with a discussion of the importance of each approach to understanding the integrated system behavior. The logistics required to support lunar surface habitation are analyzed from both 'macro-logistics' and 'micro-logistics' perspectives, where macro-logistics focuses on the delivery of goods to a destination and micro-logistics focuses on local handling of re-supply goods at a destination. An example campaign is provided to tie the theories of campaign analysis to results generation capabilities
Effects of Sex and Load Carried per Kilogram of Body Mass on Landing Technique
International Journal of Exercise Science 14(1): 633-643, 2021. Sex differences and heavy load carriage may contribute to the high rate of musculoskeletal injury in military recruits, particularly within the female population. Thus, the purposes of this study were to determine if load influenced landing quality differently in females compared to males and if load carried per kg body mass was associated to quality of landing. Twenty-eight participants were recruited for this study (males: n = 14; females: n = 14). Participants were grouped by sex. All twenty-eight participants performed three drop-jumps (DJ) under unloaded and loaded conditions. The loaded condition included a combat helmet, tactical vest, and rucksack (22 kg). Two cameras recorded in the frontal and sagittal directions during the three DJ trials. DJ trials were scored using the LESS. There was no significant difference in LESS difference scores between males and females, t(26) = -1.014, p = 0.320, 95% CI = -2.01 to 0.68. Load carried per kg body mass (rs= 0.401, p = 0.034) was significantly correlated to LESS rank order. The results suggest load does not significantly alter landing quality as measured by the LESS. However, participant body mass and load per kg of body may play a role in a personâs ability to adapt to heavy loads
Lunar Exploration Architecture Level Key Drivers and Sensitivities
Strategic level analysis of the integrated behavior of lunar transportation and lunar surface systems architecture options is performed to assess the benefit, viability, affordability, and robustness of system design choices. This analysis employs both deterministic and probabilistic modeling techniques so that the extent of potential future uncertainties associated with each option are properly characterized. The results of these analyses are summarized in a predefined set of high-level Figures of Merit (FOMs) so as to provide senior NASA Constellation Program (CxP) and Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) management with pertinent information to better inform strategic level decision making. The strategic level exploration architecture model is designed to perform analysis at as high a level as possible but still capture those details that have major impacts on system performance. The strategic analysis methodology focuses on integrated performance, affordability, and risk analysis, and captures the linkages and feedbacks between these three areas. Each of these results leads into the determination of the high-level FOMs. This strategic level analysis methodology has been previously applied to Space Shuttle and International Space Station assessments and is now being applied to the development of the Constellation Program point-of-departure lunar architecture. This paper provides an overview of the strategic analysis methodology and the lunar exploration architecture analyses to date. In studying these analysis results, the strategic analysis team has identified and characterized key drivers affecting the integrated architecture behavior. These key drivers include inclusion of a cargo lander, mission rate, mission location, fixed-versus- variable costs/return on investment, and the requirement for probabilistic analysis. GPsâ strategies in exploring the preschool childâs wellbeing in the paediatric consultation
Background:
Although General Practitioners (GPs) are uniquely placed to identify children with emotional, social, and behavioural problems, they succeed in identifying only a small number of them. The aim of this article is to explore the strategies, methods, and tools employed by GPs in the assessment of the preschool childâs emotional, mental, social, and behavioural health. We look at how GPs address parental care of the child in general and in situations where GPs have a particular awareness of the child.
Method:
Twenty-eight Danish GPs were purposively selected to take part in a qualitative study which combined focus-group discussions, observation of child consultations, and individual interviews with GPs.
Results:
Analysis of the data suggests that GPs have developed a set of methods, and strategies to assess the preschool child and parental care of the child. They look beyond paying narrow attention to the physical health of the child and they have expanded their practice to include the relations and interactions in the consultation room. The physical examination of the child continues to play a central role in doctor-child communication.
Conclusion:
The participating GPsâ strategies helped them to assess the wellbeing of the preschool child but they often find it difficult to share their impressions with parents
