    Error Analysis on Learners' Interlanguage and Intralanguage: a Case Study of Two Adolescent Students

    This research focuses on exploring learners' language, especially the errors that are performed by the English learners. The subjects of this study are two adolescent students who have been learning English since early age. The data analyzed is collected by doing the interview session. Identification and classification are done toward the errors performed by the subjects. After that, the pattern is drawn to find out the subjects' nature of language. The result shows that both interlanguage and intralanguage affect the students' English. However, interlanguage affects the errors more than does intralanguage. It proves that the nature of L1 affects the L2 acquisition. The errors occurred in terms of subject-verb agreement, tenses, and relative clause. At the end, the appropriate feedback given to speaking performance is implicit correction such as recast and prompts

    Translation Shift in the Translated Novel of “to Kill a Mockingbird” by Femmy Syahrianni

    The aim of this study were to find out category shift types used in thetranslation of novel To Kill A Bird and to describe of how category shift is translatedin the novel from English into Indonesian. This study were conducted by usingdescriptive qualitative method. The data of the study were words, phrases, andclauses in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird which is translated into Indonesian byFemmy Syahrianni. It was found that there were 280 data in the novel from Englishinto Indonesian. The data analysis were taken by listing and bolding. Documentarysheets used as the instrument to collect the data. The data were analyzed based onMiles and Huberman (2014) by condensation which consists of selecting, focusing,simplifying, abstracting and transforming and then data display by using table inorder to get easy analyzing the data. The result of this study were (1) there were fourtypes of category shifts found in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird namely; structureshifts (36.78%), class shift (27.14%), unit shift (32.5%) and intra-system shift(3.27%). (2) The process of category shifts in the translation novel by havingmodifier-head in source language changed into head-modifier in target language,adverb in source language changed into verb in target language, one unit in sourcelanguage changed into some units in target language. and plural in source languagechanged into singular in target language

    Developing Students? Writing Skill on Recount Text by Using Photograph and Group Grid Technique

    Kemampuan menulis adalah kemampuan yang sangat sulit bagi para murid Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Mereka kesulitan untuk menuliskan ide-ide mereka karena mereka merasa tidak percaya diri dalam menulis kalimat berbahasa Inggris. Olehkarena itu, peneliti menggunakan teknik group grid dan media foto untuk merangsang para murid mendapatkan ide-ide mereka dalam menulis bahasa Inggris.Penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis para murid dalam menulis teks recount dengan teknik group grid dan media foto. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Peneliti menggunakan dua siklus. Setiapsiklus terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu perencanaan (planning), tindakan (acting), observasi (observing), dan refleksi (reflecting). Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah tes, observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner. Penelitian inimenggunakan teknik group grid dengan menggunakan media foto untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis para murid dalam menulis teks recount serta untuk mengetahui pencapaian dan respon para murid selama proses pembelajaran.Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan dalam penguasaan murid dalam menulis teks recount. Hal itu dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata murid dalam pre-test yaitu 40.56. Kemudian, nilai rata-rata di posttest 1 adalah 72.93, dan nilai rata-rata post-test 2 adalah 78.12. Persentase kelas untuk murid yang nilainya diatas KKM dari post-test 1 adalah 53% dan post-test 2 adalah 84%. Respon para murid dalam implementasi teknik group grid dan media foto sangat bagus. Hal tersebut juga dapat dilihat dari hasilkuesioner dengan persentase nilai total tertinggi 96% dan nilai terendah 70%. Ratarata persentase yang didapat adalah 84%Berdasarkan perhitungan dari hasil data, bisa disimpulkan bahwa implementasi teknik group grid dan media foto dapatmeningkatkan kemampuan para murid dalam menulis teks recount

    Tujuan dari pelelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tata bahasa atau grammar murid. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas dua belas Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 1 Sayung tahun akademik 2014/2015. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Peneliti menggunakan tiga siklus yang mana dalam setiap siklus terdapat empat tahap yaitu perencanaan (planning), tindakan(action), pengamatan (observing), dan refleksi/pemikiran (reflecting). Dalam tahap perencanaan (planning), peneliti menyiapkan rencana pembelajaran dan bahan untuk mengajar tata bahasa (grammar) dan juga media yang akan digunakandalam tahap tindakan (action). Di dalam tahap perencanaan (observing), peneliti mengidentifikasi dan mencatat reaksi atau tanggapan selama proses belajar dan pembelajaran, dan tahap releksi/pemikiran (reflecting) dilakukan untuk merefleksikan hasil dari tindakanyang diperoleh dari siklus-siklus tersebut. Sementara itu, observasi, kuesioner diberikan dua kali, sebelum dan sesudah penelitian. Para murid merasa bahwa strategi Think Pair Share menggunakan video sangat bagus, menyenangkan danmembantu mereka menguasai tata bahasa (grammar). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa di pre-test nilai rata-rata adalah 17.01. Nilai rata-rata di siklus 1 post-test adalah 55.10, dan untuk post-test 2, nilai rata-ratanya adalah 69,72. Untuk post-test 3, nilai rata-rata dalam pembelajaran pada umumnya positif, ditandai dengan persentase jawaban positif dalam rata-rata 88%. Jadi bisa disimpulkan bahwa strategi Think Pair Sharemenggunakan video dapat meningkatkan kemampuan tata bahasa para murid dan guru bisa menggunakan stategi dan media ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan para murid dan membuat suasana positif dikelas

    Meningkatnya Perolehan Indeks Prestasi (IP<2,00) pada mahasiswa Prodi D III KebidananSTIKes Prima Jambi T.A 2009/2010 dari semester I, II dan III ketika mengikuti sistemperkualiahan dengan metode pengelompokan kelas, telah melatarbelakangi peneliti untukmelakukan penelitian, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas metode pengelompokankelas terhadap peningkatan indeks prestasi belajar mahasiswa Prodi D III Kebidanan STIKesPrima Tahun Akademik 2009/2010.Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dengan analisa univariat berdasarkan data sekunder yaitu daftarindeks prestasi (IP) mahasiswa semester I dan II. Dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 187mahasiswa (total sampling).Hasil penelitian disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan narasi.Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh metode pengelompokan kelasterhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar mahasiswa jika dibandingkan antara sebelum dansesudah pengelompokan kelas. Sedangkan efektifitas pengelompokan kelas terhadappeningkatan indeks prestasi (IP) di kelas A lebih tinggi dari pada dikelas B dan C.Diharapkan pada pihak institusi pendidikan dapat mengembangkan metode pengelompokankelas dengan upaya meminimalisir dampak negatif dari pengelompokan tersebut yaitu denganmengoptimalkan metode belajar Student Center Learning (SCL) sehingga dapat mendorongperan aktif mahasiswa dalam proses belajar yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan prestasibelajar.     The Development of Teacher Characters Basis of Tasawuf

    This paper is based on the reality of education system in Indonesia which is still far from expectations, especially in shaping the character of teachers and students. In various cases, it is still found sexual abuse committed by teachers and students as well as the number of users and drug addicts among students. The purpose of this research is to find the root causes of problems and workable solutions to build the characters of teachers and students in the education system in Indonesia. The method used in this research is content analysis method. Data were analyzed using the approach of Sufism. This approach has three main methods which are, then, implemented in learning activities and interaction between teachers and students. The methods include takhally, tahally and tajally. Through takhally method, teachers and students are invited to have candor in doing to avoid the properties 'ujub, riya and disinterested. Moreover, tahally method becomes embedded properties of the pleasure meanwhil tawadhdhu‟ is act solely for Allah. Thus, these methods bear the loyalty of teachers, decrease negative rivalry and increase work productivity

    The Correlation Between Eating Utensils and Place of Sales in the Contamination of Escherichia Coli in Food Sold at Campus Food Stalls

    Up to now, in general, the safety of food that is sold at any canteens in the campuses, the eating utensils are handled and the food stalls are managed are still uncertain. This research was aimed to understand the correlation between the eating utensils handling and the contamination of Escherichia coli (E. coli) in the food sold by the food vendors in the campus. The cross-sectional design research applied on the food stalls in the university campus in Depok with a total number of 173 consumers as respondents. The variables observed as independent variables were the sanitation of the eating utensils and the sanitation of the dining place. The examination method of the Most Probable Number (MPN) for E. coli was conducted to assess the food’s hygiene. The data analyzed using the chi-square test and followed by the logistic regression. The result showed that more than half of the food samples (59.54%) were contaminated by E. coli. The storage place of the eating utensils was most significantly correlated with the E. coli contamination of the served food with an OR=0.45 (0.21-0.87). Therefore, it is necessary to promote the awareness of this risk and reinforce supervision by the Health Authorities and by the management of the place of sales to provide guidance to the food vendors and to the consumers as well. Further research is recommended to observe the E. coli contamination through clean water, eating utensils, the hands of the consumers and the napkins used to wipe dry the eating utensils

    Management of skin-sparing mastectomy: Results of a survey of German Hospitals

    Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the current management of skin-sparing mastectomy in German hospitals and to determine its oncologic safety. For this purpose, 100 surgeons were surveyed regarding their use of skin-sparing mastectomy. Results: Almost all surveyed hospitals performed skin-sparing mastectomy. Most of them believe that the recurrence rate is equal to that of conventional mastectomy. 95% regard inflammatory cancer as a contraindication to skin-sparing surgery. Most of the hospitals thin out the skin without leaving any macroscopic glandular tissue behind, and 73% leave the nipple-areola complex (NAC) on the basis of frozen sections. Volume replacement is most commonly done with latissimus dorsi muscle flaps and pedicled TRAM flaps. In 76% of the surveyed hospitals, reconstruction after mastectomy is performed by the gynecological department. Conclusion: Skin-sparing mastectomy is considered to be the best cosmetic option for breast reconstruction in selected breast cancer patients. At present, statistical proof of its oncologic safety is lacking. The surgical techniques used for skin-sparing mastectomy have not yet been standardized.     The writing of this research journal was motivated by the problem of workers / laborers remuneration which led to the turmoil and rejection of the minimum wage regulations by workers / laborers. The mandate of Article 88 of Law Number 13 Year 2003 on Employment that every worker / laborer is entitled to the income that meets a decent livelihood for humanity. Problems in this paper were formulated in three formulation of the problem. First, why the formulation of the regulation of generated minimum wage is not responsif to the needs of workers/laborers. Second, what is the implications of the minimum wage regulation that is not responsif to the needs of workers/laborers. Third, How is the formulation of Minimum Wage regulation to be responsif to the needs of workers/laborers. The writing of this journal was using juridical empirical research methods. The cause of formulations of unresponsif generated Minimum Wages regulation was a component of the Good Living Needs (KHL) and the selection of determined quality or brand did not meet the needs of workers/laborers, the mechanism in the determination of Minimum Wages was run with unbalance because local governments should consider the investment and development factor of the region, and there were no penalties for companies that violate the specified local Minimum Wages. The unresponsif Minimum Wages Regulation to the needs of workers / laborers were implications for workers / laborers who could not fulfill their needs adequately, the company could not obtain the best productivity and for local government, there were an upheaval employment becomes a bad score for conduciveness of Industrial Relations in the local area , the formulation of responsif minimum wages regulation to the needs of workers/laborers was that the government should be able to act as a counterweight to the interests of workers/laborers and entrepreneurs, decision-making mechanism in the Wage Council was conducted by deliberation involving academics as a neutral party, the component of the Good Living Needs (KHL) was adjusted to the needs of workers/laborers today, explicitly regulation for employers who violate the designation of Work Minimum Wage
