This research is about a monitoring GPS to monitor the deformation in Jatibarang dam located at Gunung Pati, Semarang, Central Java using GAMIT 10.5 software. The research method is using GPS dual frequency at six points of monitoring which located at the main dam. The technique of analyzing data in this research is using Scientific Software GAMIT 10.5. This research takes in three times period starts from March, May, and finish in April 2014. The research has some purposes and the first purpose is to know the deformation situation that occurred in Jatibarang dam, the second is to find out how to monitor the deformation in Jatibarang dam carefully by using GPS dual frequency, and the third purpose is to know a precision in analyzing data with using Scientific Software GAMIT 10.5 on deformation monitoring. The researcher takes the overview of the libraries in his research such as Dam, Deformation, GPS, The method of monitoring dam deformation, the principles of monitoring dam deformation by using GPS, TEQC (Translation, Editing and Quality Check) and GAMIT/GLOBK. The implementation of this research includes collecting of data by using monitoring to survey GPS and analyzing data with using post-processing method. After analyzing GAMIT and GLOBK then it gets an displacement coordinate value with averages displacement coordinate value on X axis = 0,879 mm, Y axis = 0, 614 mm and Z axis = 1, 114 mm , hence the final conclusion of this research is Jatibarang dam experienced displacement coordinate value in numerical. The resulted test statistically with reliance up to 95% that six monitoring points of the dam are not have displacement point significantly. The conclusion of this research is Jatibarang dam is not deformed

Potential Models for Radiative Rare B Decays

We compute the branching ratios for the radiative rare decays of B into K-Meson states and compare them to the experimentally determined branching ratio for inclusive decay b -> s gamma using non relativistic quark model, and form factor definitions consistent with HQET covariant trace formalism. Such calculations necessarily involve a potential model. In order to test the sensitivity of calculations to potential models we have used three different potentials, namely linear potential, screening confining potential and heavy quark potential as it stands in QCD.We find the branching ratios relative to the inclusive b ->s gamma decay to be (16.07\pm 5.2)% for B -> K^* (892)gamma and (7.25\pm 3.2)% for B -> K_2^* (1430)gamma for linear potential. In the case of the screening confining potential these values are (19.75\pm 5.3)% and (4.74\pm 1.2)% while those for the heavy quark potential are (11.18\pm 4.6)% and (5.09\pm 2.7)% respectively. All these values are consistent with the corresponding present CLEO experimental values: (16.25\pm 1.21)% and (5.93\pm 0.46)%.Comment: RevTeX, 6 pages, 1 eps figur

Thermoplastic impact property improvement in hybrid natural fibre epoxy composite bumper beam

    Get PDF
Utilization of thermoset resin as a bumper beam composite matrix is currently more dominated in car manufacturer suppliers, because of availability, easy processing, low material cost and production equipment investment. Moreover, low viscosity, shrinkage and excellent flow facilitate better fibre impregnation and proper surface resin wetting. Three-dimensional cross linking curing increase impact, creep and environmental stress cracking resistance properties. Low impact properties of natural fibre epoxy composite, are main issues in its employment for automotive structural components. Impact properties in epoxy composite bumper beam could be increased by modifying the resin, reinforcement and manufacturing process as well as geometry parameters such as cross section, thickness, added ribs and fixing method optimizations could strengthen impact resistance. There are two main methods, flexibilisation and toughening, as modifying the resin in order to improve the impact properties of epoxy composite, which form single phase or two-phase morphology to make modifier as epoxy or from separate phase to keep the thermo-mechanical properties. Liquid rubber, thermoplastic, core shell particle and rigid particle are different methods of toughening improvements. In this research, thermoplastic toughening has used to improve impact properties in hybrid natural fibre epoxy composite for automotive bumper beam and has achieved reasonable impact improvements

Foreign Direct Investment, Aggregate Demand Conditions and Exchange Rate Nexus: A Panel Data Analysis of BRICS Economies

    Get PDF
In this study, we attempt to provide underlying theoretical and empirical explanations for exchange rate appreciation due to foreign capital influx and aggregate demand conditions in the BRICS economies. The empirical analysis is based on a panel dataset of BRICS countries over the time period 1992–2013 to substantiate our theoretical findings. For panel co-integration, Pedroni and Johansen-Fisher panel co-integration tests are conducted to compare co-integration among panel countries. We also analyze the results from Dumitrescu-Hurlin panel causality test among variables and use Granger Causality to test for the causal patterns in each of the individual countries. Our findings showed that the exchange rate volatility is directly affected by the flows of FDI, GDP per capita, Capital formulation and House hold consumption. The results have profound implications in terms of exchange rate stability in the BRICS countries and associated risks

Measurement of the production of charm jets tagged with D0^{0} mesons in pp collisions at s\sqrt{s}= 7 TeV

The production of charm jets in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV was measured with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is based on a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 6.236.23 nb1{\rm nb}^{-1}, collected using a minimum-bias trigger. Charm jets are identified by the presence of a D0^0 meson among their constituents. The D0^0 mesons are reconstructed from their hadronic decay D0^0\rightarrowKπ+^{-}\pi^{+}. The D0^0-meson tagged jets are reconstructed using tracks of charged particles (track-based jets) with the anti-kTk_{\mathrm{T}} algorithm in the jet transverse momentum range 5<pT,jetch<305<p_{\rm{T,jet}}^{\mathrm{ch}}<30 GeV/c{\rm GeV/}c and pseudorapidity ηjet<0.5|\eta_{\rm jet}|<0.5. The fraction of charged jets containing a D0^0-meson increases with pT,jetchp_{\rm{T,jet}}^{\rm{ch}} from 0.042±0.004(stat)±0.006(syst)0.042 \pm 0.004\, \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 0.006\, \mathrm{(syst)} to 0.080±0.009(stat)±0.008(syst)0.080 \pm 0.009\, \rm{(stat)} \pm 0.008\, \rm{(syst)}. The distribution of D0^0-meson tagged jets as a function of the jet momentum fraction carried by the D0^0 meson in the direction of the jet axis (zchz_{||}^{\mathrm{ch}}) is reported for two ranges of jet transverse momenta, 5<pT,jetch<155<p_{\rm{T,jet}}^{\rm{ch}}<15 GeV/c{\rm GeV/}c and 15<pT,jetch<3015<p_{\rm{T,jet}}^{\rm{ch}}<30 GeV/c{\rm GeV/}c in the intervals 0.2<zch<1.00.2<z_{||}^{\rm{ch}}<1.0 and 0.4<zch<1.00.4<z_{||}^{\rm{ch}}<1.0, respectively. The data are compared with results from Monte Carlo event generators (PYTHIA 6, PYTHIA 8 and Herwig 7) and with a Next-to-Leading-Order perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics calculation, obtained with the POWHEG method and interfaced with PYTHIA 6 for the generation of the parton shower, fragmentation, hadronisation and underlying event.Comment: 29 pages, 8 captioned figures, 3 tables, authors from page 24, published version, figures at http://alice-publications.web.cern.ch/node/525
