This paper reports on the possibility to detect learning disorders when
conducting Computer-aided Error Analysis (CEA). The study of a longitudinal learner
corpus compiled at the Universidad de Jaén (Spain) and error-tagged with the Université
Louvain Error Editor (Hutchinson, 1996; Dagneaux, Denness, Granger and Meunier,
1996) reveals that the disorder of written expression, i.e. dysorthographia, may be
detected in the students’ production in the foreign language. Failure in recognising
symptoms of this disorder may lead to incorrect interpretations of the CEAs, as the
errors found in a learner corpus may be misleadingly attributed to the student’s language
acquisition process rather than to his or her learning disorders.
Making students aware of english for specific purposes: the case of english for tourism
[ENG]English + Tourism students at the University of Jaén (Spain) are offered three courses on the use of English.
However, no real practice is offered in any of them. For this reason, a real-like activity was devised and carried out with
students taking the course Gramática Inglesa (English Grammar). The objectives were two-fold: first, to familiarize
students with tourist brochures; second, to make students aware of the importance of applying their knowledge of
English Grammar and vocabulary, as well as make them notice the special lexico-grammatical patterns used in tourist
828
brochures. This paper describes the activities developed in the first year of the project, which involved the students’
familiarization with tourist brochures, the use of appropriate sources of information online so that each student could
write a tourist brochure, the compilation of a glossary and the oral presentation of a building in the city of Jaén in a
simulated activity.Campus Mare Nostrum, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Universidad de Murcia, Región de Murci

Historical Education with Gender Perspective: Learning Outcomes and Teacher Training
This paper is based on the following research questions: In the initial teacher education, is historical education with a gender perspective the key in the construction of a more critical and egalitarian future? How is the students' perception of the development of this competence? How do they express the contribution of the gender perspective to their future as a teacher? The research, qualitative and longitudinal (2013-2017) takes as sample students of the Degree in Primary Education (third academic year) of the University of Jaen, in the subject «Historical Education and citizenship: a gender perspective». A questionnaire is used as an instrument that involves reflection on six learning outcomes expected in the subject. The results obtained show that the critical awareness of students, including the gender perspective, is fundamental in their training for their future as teachers. This will achieve a true historical education in that encourages democratic participation and decision-making in the construction of their future.
Gender: a key analysis category for developing democratic culture competences
The area of Didactics of the Social Sciences and, in general, the Social Sciences, have progressively incorporated the theories of feminism, intersectionality and, therefore gender as a category of analysis, especially with regard to the development of historical thought, in the processes of learning and teaching. Research in this area is increasing and, in recent years, case studies, round tables and specific meetings have been developed. However, the main research problem is to know how the use or not of this analysis category is influencing students' thinking and what will be their teaching practice. This article is reflected on the need of focusing on the gender competence in the pre-service teachers so that they are able to acquire critical digital skills for developing in their students a true democratic culture which is not based on hegemonic cultural models, heteropatriarchal, sexist and eurocentric
The contribution presents the results obtained in the development of two heritage
intergenerational proposals, carried out between undergraduate and University Program for Seniors
students of the University of Jaén, in the context of subjects and heritage issues, during the 2018-
2019 academic year. The importance of heritage education from intersectionality and with a gender
perspective in the learning and development of social constructs is present. From the analysis of the
speeches both oral (with older students) and written, of the students of the different groups that
participated in the experience, collected from a directed analysis search form, the importance of that
proposal has been evidenced in order to understand that there are differences of appreciation and
perception (among them by age, sex and associated gender roles), stereotypes and prejudices in our
relationship with heritage that affect the learning and the construction of a critical, reflective and coresponsible citizenship with heritage. Likewise, the results show how, investigations of this type
provide us with basic references for the processes of heritage learning and teaching in Adult
Education, Secondary Education for Adults, Baccalaureate for Adults and Higher level Vocational
Training modules that increasingly have more older students among their students.
How has the idea of curriculum been constructed in the proceeding of University Association of Teachers of Social Sciences Didactics congresses in the last 10 years? What have we understood by "the curricular"? What curricular elements do we select?
This article summarizes the research carried out through the contributions published in the proceeding books of the symposia held annually by the area since 2008 (entitled Social Sciences Teaching, School Curriculum and Teacher Training) until 2017. This is a study that uses quantitative methodology through frequency analysis of the appearance of the selected terms ("curriculum" and "curricular"), with a qualitative methodology, analyzing those terms with those with which they are endowed with meaning on each occasion. The connection between the frequency and its meaning with the different themes of the symposium and the state of the area in each moment reveals the evolution from a concept of an external design curriculum towards a curriculum thought and constructed from the Didactics of the Social Sciences.
Pre-service teachers' critical digital literacy skills and attitudes to address social problems
The emergence and expansion of social networks in the digital age has led to social transformations that have a great impact within the field of education. Teacher-training programs face the challenge of preparing future teachers to critically interpret digital media. They must succeed in this if we are to develop citizens who are well informed and reflective, which then raises the question: Are future teachers critical thinkers? This study took third- and fourth-year students of primary education (n = 322) at five Spanish universities and explored their capacity for constructing critical discourses. It examined how well they can analyze and discuss information from digital media on social problems like poverty, economic crises, social justice, and the media. Its findings reveal that future teachers have difficulty in putting together critical discourses based on information from the Internet on social problems. Those who have doubts, compare, analyze, and reason are the minority
