Scanning Electron Microscope Study of Wohlfahrtia magnifica (Schiner, 1862) (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) I. Structures with Parasitic and Possible Taxonomic Meaning

The larval development of Wohlfahrtia magnifica (the most important dipteran causing sheep myiasis in the Palearctic region) has been studied by means of scanning electron microscopy. The ultrastructure of mouth-hooks, oral ridges, labial lobes, body spines and anterior and posterior peritremes is described for the first time. Their possible adaptations to a parasitic lifeway are also discussed. Thus, the use of new structures in the Sarcophagidae taxonomy is proposed from the point of view of their ultrastructure and adaptative morphology

Diseño e implementación de un portafolios electrónico

[SPA]Un modelo de Enseñanza-aprendizaje para la implantación del nuevo sistema de créditos como el que ha incorporado la universidad española muestran la gran importancia que ejercen el uso de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en la actividad docente. En los años próximos será necesario y fundamental disponer de infraestructuras tecnológicas y recursos informáticos que nos permitan incorporar de forma real las TIC como herramientas habituales y cotidianas de trabajo. Desde la perspectiva del profesor, esta nueva forma de trabajo que estamos experimentado, nos ofrece la oportunidad de un mayor acercamiento a nuestro alumnado y con ello nos permite una mayor adaptación de nuestra enseñanza a las necesidades e inquietudes de nuestros alumnos, y la posibilidad de una evaluación continua real de su trabajo y de la adquisición de competencias que van realizando, lo que se traduce en satisfacción de nuestros estudiantes acerca de su aprendizaje. En esta comunicación se realiza la justificación y análisis del diseño de un portafolios digital que hemos desarrollado. [ENG]The new teaching methods associates to the new credit system addressed by the Spanish university demonstrate the great importance of the use of ITC in teaching. In the coming years will be necessary and essential to have the technological and computer resources that allow us to realistically incorporate ICT as tools in our daily work routine. 272 From the academic perspective, these new teaching methods that we experienced, offer us the opportunity of getting closer to our students and thus allows us to further adapt our teaching to the needs and concerns of them. Deep census of variable stars in a VLT/VIMOS field in Carina

We have searched for variable stars in deep V-band images of a field towards the Galactic plane in Carina. The images were taken with VIMOS instrument at ESO VLT during 4 contiguous nights in April 2005. We detected 348 variables among 50897 stars in the magnitude range between V=15.4 and V=24.5 mag. Upon detection, we classified the variables by direct eye inspection of their light curves. All variable objects but 9 OGLE transits in the field are new discoveries. We provide a complete catalog of all variables which includes eclipsing/ellipsoidal binaries, miscellaneous pulsators (mostly delta Scuti-type variables), stars with flares and other (irregular and likely long-period) variables. Only two of the stars in our sample are known to host planets. Our result give some implications for future large variability surveys.Comment: 14 pages, 16 figures, accepted for publication in A&

Detection of period variations in extrasolar transiting planet OGLE-TR-111b

Two consecutive transits of planetary companion OGLE-TR-111b were observed in the I band. Combining these observations with data from the literature, we find that the timing of the transits cannot be explained by a constant period, and that the observed variations cannot be originated by the presence of a satellite. However, a perturbing planet with the mass of the Earth in an exterior orbit could explain the observations if the orbit of OGLE-TR-111b is eccentric. We also show that the eccentricity needed to explain the observations is not ruled out by the radial velocity data found in the literature.Comment: Corrected central times, minor changes in the analysis of the data, and text. Se presentan los resultados del estudio de vigilancia epidemiológica de triquinelosis (Trichinella spiralis y T. britovi) en fauna salvaje (jabalí y zorro), llevado a cabo en Catalunya (2006-2008), La Rioja (2001-2003) y Castilla-La Mancha (2007-2008).
