Acculturation to Global Consumer Culture (AGCC): testing the validity of the AGCC scale and some preliminary results from the United Kingdom
This paper presents preliminary results from a study focused on acculturation to Global Consumer Culture (GCC) conducted in the UK. In particular, this paper’s aims are to test the validity of the original ‘Acculturation to Global Consumer Culture’ (AGCC) scale in a new cultural context, and to present preliminary results about the relation between acculturation to GCC and demographic factors, technological anxiety, and compulsive buying. This paper is based on online questionnaire completed by 340 respondents in the UK. The psychometric properties of this scale were verified via confirmatory factor analysis, and a new, shorter scale was proposed. Some results about the links between acculturation to GCC and demographics, technological anxiety, and compulsive buying were presented and discussed within the context of extant GCC research. Limitations and further research were discussed.

Jednakże kryzys gospodarczy doprowadził do zmiany paradygmatu.
The energy tariff system and development of competition in the scope of polish energy law
This article presents problems associated with the development of competition on the Polish energy market in the context of tariffs and pricing. National standards are set against the background of European legislation and the activities of the Energy Regulatory Office. The thesis is that the tariffs concerning distribution should be approved by the President of this authority because it is a natural monopoly, something the authors demonstrate in the following part of the article. However, the tariffs concerning selling should be free from confirmation even for households because this is a typical market. The authors do not ignore legal analysis and practical issues.energy law, tariff, energy market
Brands: culture, leadership and differentiation: testing the effectiveness of highly performance-oriented appeal in four European countries.
This study examined the effectiveness of global consumer culture positioning strategy executed via highly performance-oriented appeal across four European countries. An advertising appeal that is favourably perceived in different markets should be a suitable candidate for use as part of a standardised strategy. The results indicate homogeneous acceptance of examined appeal.

Quantitative storytelling in the making of a composite indicator
The reasons for and against composite indicators are briefly reviewed, as well as the available theories for their construction. After noting the strong normative dimension of these measures—which ultimately aim to ‘tell a story’, e.g. to promote the social discovery of a particular phenomenon, we inquire whether a less partisan use of a composite indicator can be proposed by allowing more latitude in the framing of its construction. We thus explore whether a composite indicator can be built to tell ‘more than one story’ and test this in practical contexts. These include measures used in convergence analysis in the field of cohesion policies and a recent case involving the World Bank’s Doing Business Index. Our experiments are built to imagine different constituencies and stakeholders who agree on the use of evidence and of statistical information while differing on the interpretation of what is relevant and vital
Women’s hair in Lager narratives
The article offers an analysis of women’s Lager narratives in which the procedure of removing hair from female prisoners of concentration camps was reflected. It indicates the procedure’s cultural, social, and psychological meanings presenting it as an element of the extensive camp strategy of violence, a ritual of downgrading, and a form of violating a woman’s identity and intimacy. By presenting various circumstances in which women were shaved in the camps, it also indicates the situation-based complexity of the camp experience, its various stages, and contexts. The text refers to various sources, and considers the experiences of women of various nationalities, e.g. Germans, Poles, and Jews
O niektórych schematach w internetowej autoprezentacji żeńskich zgromadzeń zakonnych
The article aims at finding repetitive content and formal elements visible on the websites of female religious congregations in Poland. These websites are a form of media self-presentation of religious communities, they serve informational purposes and, indirectly, the creation of the image of the congregations. The research covered 93 websites of congregations participating in the Conference of Senior Superiors of Religious Congregations. The author distinguishes 4 aspects of the message that add up to the schemes of self-presentation: 1. basis of identification of the community, 2. areas of self-description, 3. invitation to contact, 4. multimedia. The author indicates a relationship between the presumed collective originator and the undefined recipient of the internet message as a probable cause of the predictable structure of the websites analyzed.
A common feature of the researched publications: Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (2005) and YOUCAT. Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church (2011), being a form of popularization of Catechism of the Catholic Church (1992), is a return to the traditional catechism composition based on blocks consisting of questions and answers. The purpose of the article is to analyze the questions used on YOUCAT pages. The analysis covers three aspects: 1. the status of catechism questions, 2. their typology, and 3. selected characteristics, such as the presence of presupposition, diversification of originator-recipient relations, and stylistic heterogeneity. The author draws conclusions regarding the servile, didactic and persuasive function of dialogue forms, qualifies catechism questions as only seeming questions and describes their linguistic specificity, boiling down to the use of several schematic solutions. Przykładem publikacji o charakterze popularyzatorskim są m.in.
