Os deícticos no discurso narrativo: demonstrativos e advérbios de lugar em "Far from the madding crowd"

É nosso propósito com o presente estudo verificar do emprego de algumas formas deícticas na ficção narrativa em língua inglesa, assim como do seu comportamento aquando da tradução para língua portuguesa. A centralidade das formas deícticas na construção da significação, atestada nas palavras de Fernanda Irene Fonseca, na afirmação de que a "função dos deícticos é condicionante da significação dos restantes signos linguísticos", bem como o facto de sempre se nos ter afigurado algo aleatória a motivação que leva autores e tradutores a optar por diferentes formas deícticas, nomeadamente as demonstrativas quando apontam para maior ou menor grau de proximidade em relação ao locutor e ao interlocutor, estão na base do nosso interesse por esta questão

Unidade de estilo em Fernando Pessoa?: análise de três poemas de produção heteronímia

Anxiety, depression and stress in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Abstract Problem Statement: Rheumatic diseases carries a high physical, psychological and social impact, with relevant multi-dimensional assessment of psychosocial functioning of these rheumatic patients, reasons for carrying out the present study. Research Questions: What is the prevalence of anxiety, depression and stress in patients with rheumatoid arthritis? Purpose of the Study: This aimed to identify the prevalence of anxiety, depression and stress in people with rheumatoid arthritis These have in our population worse quality of life indicators, when compared with the general population. Research Methods The study observational was conducted with 80 participants, 82.5% were female, aged between 21 and 80 years, with an average of 58.16 years. Was applied “Health Assessment Questionnaire” (Fries, 197, validated by Santos Reis, Rebelo, Days, Pink & Queiroz, 1996); “Anxiety Scale, Depression and Stress” (PF Lovibond and Lovibond SH, 1995, adapted by Ribeiro, Honored and Leal, 2004). Findings: Moderate and high anxiety was found in 37.5% of the sample and severe depressive symptoms in 35%, which are higher in women (♀40,9%; ♂39,4%). Stress presented high in 42.5% of subjects. The anxiety and depression are higher in the females participants, with increased pain and superior functional impairment. Stress increases with the low income and worsening of health status. Conclusions: Nursing care to these people should include interventions aimed at screening, referral and treatment of these clinical outbreaks. These nosological entities should also be considered when planning educational activities / training of future health professionals

Ethical-moral courses of action and active citizenship in health students

Abstract Introduction: The practice of active citizenship, ethical-moral courses of action and civic, moral and ethics education are essentials for ethical decision making in health. Objetive: To determine if gender influences students’ ethical- moral course of action. Methods: Descriptive study with a non-probabilistic sample of 85 students enrolled in the 1st cycle of the health degree. Results: Of the participants surveyed 61.2% were found to say that action should take into account their moral principles, with ethical/ moral subjectivism prevailing; 44.7% consider that one should “Do what will have the best consequences for the greatest number of people”, with the principle of utilitarianism being significant; 55.3% think that “An action is ethically good” if “It is in accordance with morality”, thereby highlighting subjectivism/relativism; 45.9% believe that “ethical-moral values” “are relative and vary from society to society” agreeing with relativism as an explanatory principle for action. Males showed a greater tendency to support their decision-making with the principle of objectivism, (Fischer=.010). Conclusion: The results suggest that students’ ethical-moral education is required to promote an ethical-moral course of action in their professional practice. Thus, universities with their health courses should be at the forefront of this education, making their graduates ambassadors/interveners of a way of knowing and of being as well as promoters of the dignity of the citizen of the modern world.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Language tools: communicating in today’s world of business

In a society increasingly mediated by technology, the medium has created unparalleled opportunities. As a result, it has refocused educators’ attention on how technological literacy is both an essential learning outcome in all higher education programs, and the intermediary, the means to achieve the digital competences expected from employees. In the field of English for Specific Purposes, and at a time when technology is perceived to enable quick and effective access to a vast number of sources of information and knowledge, teaching a language confronts teachers and students with divergent views that converge into what we perceive to be interconnected paths. We critically reflect upon these interconnected paths in order to obtain further insights on how technology, namely Machine Translation and Computer-Aided Translation, is perceived by business communicators who are learning English in an ESP environment. Within the premises that translation is an act of intercultural communication, our case study addresses mirrored perceptions of the English language, the act of translation, and the use of technological tools. Our study draws on both perspectives and discusses how mirrored images of students and teachers converge through project-based approaches, rooted in practical, short visual tasks with a clear and immediately visible purpose.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Root reinforcement: Clinical case report

To restore a tooth that presents a great loss of structure of the root dentin is possible since that been considered the root reinforcement. Solutions to this problem has been a challenge to the dental professionals for years. The authors showed beyond a case-relate that the root reinforcement is a viable procedure and efficient to preserve the dental element that would be extracted, impossible to be rehabilitated for the root fragility. The present case shows this root situation in the teeth 21, where was been made the reinforcement technique. Materials such: phototransmissor luminex post, dentin-bonding agent single bond, and resin dual relyx, was been utilized, then was been made a cast metal post and a metaloceramic unitary prosthesis. The resistance of the dentin-bonding agents, the physical proprieties of the composite resin seems to the dentin structures proprieties and the use of the phototransmissor posts can, together with praised technique provides the desire result
