A prototype tool for the automatic generation of adaptive websites

    Get PDF
This paper presents AWAC, a prototype CAWE tool for the automatic generation of adaptive Web applications based on the A-OOH methodology. A-OOH (Adaptive OO-H) is an extension of the OO-H approach to support the modeling of personalized Websites. A-OOH allows modeling the content, structure, presentation and personalization of a Web Application. The AWAC tool takes the A-OOH design models of the adaptive Website to generate as an input. Once generated, the adaptive Website also contains two modules for managing the personalization which, at runtime, analyze the user browsing events and adapt the Website according to the personalization rule(s) triggered. These personalization rules are specified in an independent file so they can be updated without modifying the rest of the application logic

Particle interaction with binary-fluid interfaces in the presence of wetting effects

In this paper, we present an Eulerian-Lagrangian methodology to simulate the interaction between a fluid-fluid interface and a solid particle in the presence of wetting effects. The target physical problem is represented by ternary phase systems in which a solid phase and a drop phase interact inside an incompressible Newtonian carrier fluid. The methodology is based on an Eulerian-Lagrangian approach that allows for the numerical solution of the Continuity and Navier-Stokes equations by using a pseudo-spectral method, whereas the drop phase is modelled by the Phase Field Method, in which a smooth transition layer represented by an hyperbolic function is considered both across the solid-fluid interface and across the drop-fluid interface. Finally, the solid phase is described in the form of a virtual force using the Direct Forcing Immersed Boundary approach. The properties of the immersed solid phase (including wetting effects), the deformability of the drops and the characteristics of the carrier fluid flow are the main controlling parameters. To simulate a ternary phase system, the solid phase is coupled to the binary-fluid phase by introducing a single well potential in the free-energy density functional, which can also control the solid surface wetting property. The capabilities of the methodology are proven by examining first 2D and 3D validation cases in which a solid particle is settling in a quiescent fluid. Then, the interaction of solid particles with a binary-fluid interface and the effects of surface wetting on the submergence of a quasi-buoyant body are discussed. Finally, the equilibrium configuration for a solid particle interacting with an equally-sized drop at different contact angles and the relative rotation of two solid particles bridged by a drop are examined in the case the interaction is induced by shear fluid flow deformations on the drop interface

Analysis and proposal of sustainable urban mobility: accessibility to the cultural heritage of the City of Guanajuato; Gto

[EN] Through this research and analysis, its intention is to restructure the corporate public transport road network of the Patrimonial city of Guanajuato, based on a systemic approach created by transfer centers and avoiding vehicular traffic. To make the historical center an available, safe, and fast space, with less environmental impact and friendly, we pretend to change the structure of the city. Mobility is a necessity in cities, but it is also a right; it occupies a central role in society while allowing communication, economic activity, and integrating spaces and events; It is needed for all people to access the essential goods and services of a dignified life. The method of analysis that considered is Urban Sustainability as a set of systems, which explains that anyone who presents a problem produces an imbalance in the rest. Therefore, the Urban Sustainability Index (ISU) should understand as a degree achieved by the city to maintain the balance of all systems present in urban life. The elements used were: historical analysis, photographic records, public transport routes, diagrams of vehicle flows, and previous drafts. Its scope changes road capacity and accessibility, quality of life, sustainability, economic, social viability, equity, and quality of the environment. This project is aimed at improving and developing the infrastructure with a set of economically profitable actions. It proposes that short and medium-term actions contribute to a longterm vision and strategyITESO, Departamento del Hábitat y Desarrollo Urbano, Ph. First report of Staphylococcus isolates identified by genomic analysis from rhizospheric soils of Capsicum annuum L. cv Piquillo

    Get PDF
The genus Staphylococcus comprises many species which can be isolated from many sources and could display plant growth-promoting properties. Moreover, Capsicum species are important export crops in Peru, which have gained greater interest in recent years. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify Staphylococcus isolates from rhizospheric soil samples of C. annuum cv. Piquillo in La Libertad, Peru. Bacterial isolates were identified by genomic analysis targeting the 16s rRNA gene. Bacteria were isolated from samples by serial dilutions and cultured in solid medium agar plates. Then, genomic DNA extraction from pure and morphologically distinct isolates, 16s rRNA gene amplification, sequencing and bioinformatic analysis were performed. We found four bacterial isolates from the genus Staphylococcus not previously reported in C. annuum rhizospheric soils: Isolate Ca2 and Ca5 which both match to Staphylococcus sp., isolate Ca6 to Staphylococcus arlettae and isolate Ca7 to Staphylococcus xylosus. Further studies to assess these isolates’ impact on crops as well as their potential applications in other fields of research such as antimicrobial development, food processing and pesticide biodegradation are recommended. The genus Staphylococcus comprises many species which can be isolated from many sources and could display plant growth-promoting properties.
