El procesamiento de sondeos de opinión mediante Análisis Multidimensional

    Get PDF

Genetic Analysis of Tomato Fruit Ripening at Polypeptide Profiles Level through Quantitative and Multivariate Approaches

    Get PDF
Multivariate analysis became essential in functional and structural Genomics because of the large quantity of biological data provided by these new research areas. Diallel mating design was widely applied to analyze the heritability of quantitative traits but it was recently used for approaching to the inheritance patterns of other levels of gene expression such as transcript profiles. Investigating the inheritance pattern of total polypeptide profiles with a diallel design remains as a vacancy subject. The objective of the present research was to infer the inheritance of total polypeptides profiles from tomato pericarp tissue at four different ripening stages in a diallel mating design including five recombinant inbred lines (RILs) and their ten second cycle hybrids (SCH). To achieve this objective, a multivariate analysis was applied to identify eventual inheritance patterns through a data mining approach and then univariate analyses were used to verify these patterns. Mainly dominance and also overdominance, though in a minor percentage, contributed to the gene actions involved in their genetic basis. Multivariate analysis was efficient in identifying inheritance patterns of total polypeptide profiles through a data mining approach, and univariate analyses largely verified the identified gene actionsFil: Marchionni Basté, Ezequiel. Full text link
[EN] The main aim of the present Master's final project is the creation and the design of a cultural route developed in the territorial framework of the so-called Valencian Central Shires and it is based on the historical figure of Muhammad Abu Abd Allah Ibn Hudhayl, better known by his nickname, al-Azraq ("the Blue"), last Valencian Muslim leader in the 13th century from the Valencian lands. Firstly, a theoretical approach to the phenomenon of the cultural tourism is carried out, addressing its complexity and its most important key aspects. Next, the context and the trends of cultural tourism in an international, national, and regional level is also analysed, observing how, in recent years, it has become a tourism typology in process of consolidation. Thereupon, the Valencian Central Shires are analysed as the territorial scope for the development of the proposed cultural route, and subsequently, a plan for the creation of the "Cultural Route of al-Azraq'" is designed, which would connect and integrate the patrimonial resources of 31 municipalities of the Valencian Central Shires across seven different thematic trips, having a collaborative and consensual management and governance model. Finally, the marketing strategies for the commercialization of the "Cultural Route of al-Azraq" are also settled within a plan.David Costa, R. (2020). NGC 4337: an overlooked old cluster in the inner disc of the Milky Way

Galactic open clusters do not survive long in the high-density regions of the inner Galactic disc. Inside the solar ring only 11 open clusters are known with ages older than 1 Gyr. We show here, basing on deep, high-quality photometry, that NGC 4337, contrary to earlier findings, is indeed an old open cluster. The cluster is located very close to the conspicuous star cluster Trumpler 20, as well misclassified in the past, and that has received so much attention in recent years. NGC 4337 shows a significant clump of He-burning stars which was not detected previously. Its beautiful colour-magnitude diagram is strikingly similar to the one of the classical old open clusters IC 4651, NGC 752, and NGC 3680, and this suggests similar age and composition. A spectroscopic study is much needed to confirm our findings. This, in turn, would also allow us to better define the inner disc radial abundance gradient and its temporal evolution. To this aim, a list of clump star candidates is provided.Instituto de Astrofísica de La Plat

Role of the quorum sensing mechanism in the response of pseudomonas aeruginosa to lethal and sublethal UVA irradiation

The role of quorum sensing (QS) in the response of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to UVA radiation was investigated in the PAO1 strain and derivatives defective in the synthesis of the QS signals 3OC12-HSL (lasI strain), C4-HSL (rhlI strain) or both (lasI rhlI strain). Cell viability measurements demonstrated that the double mutant was significantly more sensitive to UVA than single mutants, which in turn showed reduced cell survival with regard to the PAO1 strain. Irradiation under nitrogen atmosphere and chemiluminescence measurements indicated the oxidative nature of the UVA-induced damage. The activity of the antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase was assayed in these strains before and after irradiation, and a strong correlation between catalase levels and UVA sensitivity was observed. When a sublethal UVA dose was applied to PAO1, a growth delay was observed and this mechanism depended on the rhl system. Moreover, low doses of UVA irradiation triplicated the level of C4-HSL in log PAO1 cells. It is concluded that QS is fundamental in the defense against the toxic effects of UVA in P. aeruginosa. The induction of the QS system by UVA independently of cell density could function as an adaptative strategy to withstand this hostile environmental condition.Fil: Costa, Cristina Susana. The use of N^N ligands as an alternative strategy for the sol–gel synthesis of visible-light activated titanias

This work presents the first biphasic brookite–rutile organotitania, TiO2(B,R)–Phen, synthesized by a sol–gel method, under mild conditions and using 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) as a crystal modifier and as a source of intermediate N2p states. Phen is able to coordinate to the Ti(IV) atom of the titanium alkoxide precursor, tetrabutyl orthotitanate (TBOT), forming an organotitania precursor that leads to the formation of a binary brookite–rutile structure, instead of the typical anatase. Different from the nitrogen-doped titanias, in which the N2p levels form due to the presence of N atoms in the O lattice position of the titania crystal, the coordination between the Ti atom of the titania precursor and Phen is maintained during the whole synthetic process, which is responsible for the presence of intermediate N2p states related to Ti–N bonds in the final materials, which is key to activating the photocatalysis behavior under visible light. Both features allow the simultaneous reduction of charge recombination rate and enhancement of photo-induced electron transfer in the visible range. Indeed, a 10-fold increase in the photocatalytic rate constant along with enhanced stability for the degradation of cationic dyes in aqueous solutions under visible light was noted in stark comparison with reference titanias. The photocatalysis mechanism consists of the self-degradation of the dyes, while the enhanced photoactivity results from a combination of the binary brookite–rutile structure and the blue absorption Ti–N states. As such, this work presents a unique synthesis strategy to obtain biphasic brookite–rutile organotitanias bearing Ti-N bonds that exhibit superior photocatalytic degradation activity of pollutants in aqueous solutions using visible light. This work was supported by the Spanish MICINN and AEI/FEDER (projects CTQ2015-74494-JIN and RTI2018-099504-BC21/A-C22). Insights into the properties of the Local (Orion) spiral arm. NGC 2302: First results and description of the program

Context. The spiral structure of the Milky Way (MW) is highly uncertain and is the subject of much discussion nowadays. Even the spiral structure close to the Sun and the real nature of the so-called Local or Orion arm are poorly known. Aims. We present the first result from a program that determines the properties of the Local (Orion) spiral arm (LOA), together with a full description of the program. In this context we have made a comprehensive study of the young LOA open cluster NGC 2302, which includes a UBVRI photometric analysis and determination of its kinematic properties - proper motion (PM) and radial velocity (RV) - and of its orbital parameters. Methods. Making a geometric registration of our ad-hoc first- and second-epoch CCD frames (12-year timeframe), we determined the mean PM of NGC 2302 relative to the local field of disk stars, and, through a comparison with the UCAC4 catalog, we transformed this relative PM into an absolute one. Using medium-resolution spectroscopy of 26 stars in the field of NGC 2302, we derived its mean RV.We determined the cluster's structure, center, and radius by means of a density analysis of star counts. Photometric diagrams for several color combinations were built using our data, which allowed us to identify the stellar populations present in the field of NGC 2302 and to carry out our photometric membership analysis. Isochrone fits to the photometric diagrams allowed us to determine the fundamental parameters of NGC 2302, including reddening, distance, and age. The kinematic data and derived distance allowed us to determine the space motion of NGC 2302. This was done by adopting a time-independent, axisymmetric, and fully analytic gravitational potential for the MW. Results. We obtained an absolute PM for NGC 2302 of (μα cos δ μδ) = (-2.09; -2.11) mas yr-1, with standard errors of 0.410 and 0.400 mas yr-1. The mean RV of NGC 2302 turned out to be 31.2 km s-1 with a standard error of 0.7 km s-1. The density analysis revealed a remarkably spherical concentration of stars centered at α2000 = 06:51:51:820, δ2000 = -07:05:10:68 with a radius of 2:50′ Although densely contaminated by field stars, all our photometric diagrams show a recognizable cluster sequence of bright stars (V ≤ 18). The color-color diagrams show the existence of more than one population, each a ected by distinct reddening with the cluster sequence at E(B - V) = 0.23. Isochrone fits displaced for this reddening and for a distance modulus of (m - M)0 = 10.69 (distance, d = 1:40 kpc) indicate an age of log(t) = 7:90-8.00 with a slight tendency toward the younger age. Inspection of the shape of the orbit of NGC 2302 and the resulting orbital parameters indicate that it is a typical population I object.Facultad de Ciencias Astronómicas y GeofísicasInstituto de Astrofísica de La Plat

Genetic basis of the lobedness degree in tomato fruit morphology

    Get PDF
Fruit shape is a key trait in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). Since most studies focused on proximo-distal fruit morphology, we hypothesized that unknown QTLs for medio-lateral direction ones could be found analysing segregating populations where major shape genes are fixed. We examined the diversity of fruit morphology in medio-lateral direction; defined divergent traits in cultivars carrying identical genetic constitution at LC and FAS genes; and identified QTLs for lobedness degree (LD) by a QTL-seq approach. We found that LC and FAS genes were not enough to explain LD variability in a large tomato collection. Then, we derived F2 populations crossing cultivars divergent for LD where LC and FAS were fixed (Yellow Stuffer x Heinz 1439 [F2YSxH] and Voyage x Old Brooks [F2VxOB]). By QTL-seq we identified a QTL for LD on chromosome 8 in both F2, which was validated in F2YSxH by interval mapping accounting for ~ 17% of the variability. Other two QTLs located on chromosomes 6 and 11 with epistasis explained ~ 61% of the variability in the F2VxOB. In conclusion, three novel QTLs with major effect for LD (ld6, ld8, and ld11) were identified through the study of diversity and genetic segregation in intraspecific tomato crosses.Fil: Vazquez, Dana Valeria.
