Introduction: Individuals and collectives perform various sexual activities to engage in occupations and participate in everyday life. However, in the Brazilian scenario of occupational therapy, there is little evidence about its approach in professional practice. Aim: To identify how occupational therapists in Brazil address sexual performance in their professional practice. Method: An exploratory and descriptive research was conducted with 84 occupational therapists in Brazil, using an online questionnaire. Simple statistics were used for the description of the data and the enunciation and correlation procedures of the Content Analysis approach for the inference of the contents. Results: The sample consisted mostly of female occupational therapists, of which 91.66% had never received specific training. Even so, 53.57% address sexual performance in their professional practice, with the highest prevalence in the field and mental health services with the adult population. Conclusion: There is a need to triangulate factors related to training, personal and theoreticals values and the intervention process for sexual performance. There is still little training on the subject, which is consistent with the difficulties in identifying specific approaches in occupational therapy, which, possibly, contributes to the neglect of this subject in the literature of the area

GORDA: an open architecture for database replication

Database replication has been a common feature in database management systems (DBMSs) for a long time. In particular, asynchronous or lazy propagation of updates provides a simple yet efficient way of increasing performance and data availability and is widely available across the DBMS product spectrum. High end systems additionally offer sophisticated conflict resolution and data propagation options as well as, synchronous replication based on distributed locking and two-phase commit protocols. This paper presents GORDA architecture and programming interface (GAPI), that enables different replication strategies to be implemented once and deployed in multiple DBMSs. This is achieved by proposing a reflective interface to transaction processing instead of relying on-client interfaces or ad-hoc server extensions. The proposed approach is thus cost-effective, in enabling reuse of replication protocols or components in multiple DBMSs, as well as potentially efficient, as it allows close coupling with DBMS internals.(undefined

Result-based payments as a tool to preserve the High Nature Value of complex silvo-pastoral systems: progress towards farm-based indicators

s shown by the Green Deal's ambition, the European Commission is progressively pushing for an environmental shiftand climate action in Europe. For the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), this involves a stronger focus on greening policy objectives. For agri-environmental schemes, this entails changes toward performance-based payments, partially replacing traditional activity-basedpayments. The CAP foresees greater flexibility in national programs and tailor-made solutions centered on results (i.e. environmentaloutcomes), benefiting farmers who go beyond the minimum environmental performance required. The environmental outcomes offarm practices must be assessed so that changes can be monitored over time and linked to payment delivery. This requires stakeholdersto collaborate with researchers to identify farm-based indicators that are easily applicable, to achieve environmental results that aredependent on farm practices, and to assess and monitor changes in outcomes over time. The analysis in this paper is based on atransdisciplinary process that began in 2017 in a Natura 2000 site and its surroundings in Southern Portugal, to identify result-basedmeasures for the Montado silvo-pastoral system. Farmers' understanding of how to adapt their practices to reach better environmentalresults was combined with scientific knowledge of the relevant environmental outcomes and how these can be assessed with indicators.Ten field-based visual indicators were defined, which farmers applied in the field, and validated by technical staff. These indicators arerelated to several aspects of the silvo-pastoral system: soil quality, pasture diversity, tree renewal, tree health, singular landscape elements, and biodiversity. The approach used in this process was innovative. We describe each step and present its advantages and drawbacksfor designing and implementing result-based payments. Ultimately, their implementation is expected to lead to higher sustainability inthe Montado. The influence of ohmic heating (OH) through the application of moderate electric fields on phytochemical compounds recovery from colored potato (Solanum tuberosum L. var. Vitelotte) was studied. A BoxBehnken design was used to simultaneously assess the effects of operational parameters such as electric field strength, temperature and process time on the yields of anthocyanins and total phenolic recovery on pretreatment of potato samples. From the analysis of the model, electric field, temperature and time were shown to have independent and interactive effects on the values of extraction yields. Aqueous extraction of phytochemical compounds after pretreatments can be described by using a two-step model involving simultaneous washing and diffusion of the solutes from the samples. Results shows that electrical fields of low energy levels and thermal effects can be combined and optimized into a single step treatment on extraction of anthocyanins and phenolic compounds from vegetable tissues providing high recovery yields with a reduced treatment time, less energy consumption and with no utilization of organic solvents (green extraction). This study was supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the scope of the strategic funding of UID/BIO/04469/2013 unit and COMPETE 2020 (POCI-01- 0145-FEDER-006684) and BioTecNorte operation (NORTE-01-0145- FEDER-000004) funded by European Regional Development Fund under the scope of Norte2020 e Programa Operacional Regional do Norte. Schistosomiasis, a disease caused by the trematodes of the Schistosoma genus, affects about 240 million people worldwide. The Praziquantel (PZQ) is the drug used to treat this disease. However, reports of resistant strains reinforce the need to develop a new schistosomicidal drug. The study of new drugs and vaccines that can contribute to the control of this pathology becomes urgent. A new approach can be held by the study of the following Schistosoma mansoni enzymes: purine nucleoside phosphorilase 1 (PNP), hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT) and adenylate kinase 1 (ADK). The parasite, incapable of synthetizing purine nucleotides through the de novo pathway, has multiple mechanisms to incorporate purine bases through the purine salvage pathway. Our goal was to assess, through immunoenzimatic assay (ELISA-indirect), the production of total IgG, IgE and IgG2a in the plasma after immunization with the PNP, HGPRT and ADK enzymes, using the S. mansoni cercariae - infected murine model. Our results showed that the immunization in Balb/c mice with the enzymes mentioned above induced production of the immunoglobulines at the 48th and 85th days, post-infection. Thereby, new assays must be made for a better assessment on how these enzymes modulate an immune response.CNPqFAPES
