The irrelevance of political parties’ differences for public finances: evidence from public deficit and debt in Portugal (1974 – 2012)

This paper attempts to empirically test whether inter-parties’ political differences impact public finances in Portugal differently. Focused on public debt and the government budget deficit, and using data collected since 1974 for several variables, this paper applies econometric modeling to show that inter-parties’ differences have had no significant impact on the performance of public finances in Portugal. We observed that the Portuguese public budget deficit and the Portuguese public debt are mainly influenced by the process of globalization, the profile of the Portuguese Welfare State, and the phases of the economic cycle. How does the inclusion of children with disabilities in schools impact some of the interveners of the educational community?

This project seeks to study the impact of including disabled students through the perspective of schools directors and teachers. Following an inductive approach, a data structured was developed based on the insights of 30 interviewees. It was concluded that disabled students positively impact both interveners, contributing to a professional growth and human enrichment. Also, these ideas share a common background, as both reinforce the importance of school leaders, who create environments appropriate for increased motivation. NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AIRFOILS APPLIED TO UAVs

This essay aims the process optimization when referred to aeronautical projects. By using mesh generators softwares and simulations made in CFD, the article employs numerical techniques to simulate airfoils and shows that is possible to extract accurated and conservative outcomes when compared to wind tunnel results. The test cases studied were based on the Selig 1223 type of airfoil and developed into the ANSYS platform, whereas by using the ICEM mesh tool, structured meshs were generated and imported to the CFX enviroment, where they could be simulated and analyzed

Rede de sensores sem fio na implementação de experimento "FACE" para estudos do impacto das mudanças climáticas na agricultura.

As mudanças climáticas devem interferir no cenário mundial da agricultura. Os seus impactos econômicos, sociais e ambientais podem ser positivos, negativos ou ainda neutros, já que as mudanças podem diminuir, aumentar ou não terem impacto sobre as doenças, pragas e infestações nas plantas. Um tipo de experimento chamado FACE (Free Air Carbon-dioxide Enrichment) tem sido conduzido nos Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Alemanha, Japão, Austrália, Itália, Dinamarca, entre outros países, para estudar particularmente os impactos do aumento da concentração de CO2 atmosférico sobre as plantações. O primeiro experimento FACE da América Latina está sendo instalado no Brasil por um grupo de cientistas da Embrapa (Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária). Comparado aos projetos existentes, a implantação do FACE brasileiro inova com a utilização da tecnologia de rede de sensores sem fio. Efeito do herbicida Chlorimuron-Ethyl em biótipos resistente e suscetível de Euphorbia heterophylla.

O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar os efeitos do chlorimuron-ethyl, inibidor da enzima acetolactato sintase (ALS), no crescimento foliar (largura e comprimento) e em altura de plantas de Euphorbia heterophylla suscetíveis e resistentes aos herbicidas inibidores da ALS, aos 30 dias após a aplicação do herbicida. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, utilizando-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com 11 repetições por dose aplicada do herbicida. Foram observadas respostas diferenciais entre os biótipos. As características analisadas variaram segundo a dose utilizada do herbicida. Nenhuma das doses experimentais, incluindo a comercial, foi capaz de controlar, eficientemente, o desenvolvimento das plantas resistentes
