Increasing Public Perceptions of Stroke

Analysis of publicly available data for the selected county of Rutland Vermont was performed to understand the underlying health problems affecting the county. Although VT overall has better health status indicators, including better access to care, and lower rates of chronic diseases than the nation, pockets of the state have higher rates of chronic diseases including obesity, DM, and cerebrovascular accidents. Continuando con un proyecto sobre la corología de las macroalgas marinas bentónicas del litoral malagueño (Conde, 1981; Conde, 1984; Conde & Soto, 1986) reseñamos en esta nota la presencia en la zona de 5 nuevas especies, y se confirman otras 5, citadas anteriormente en la literatura o de arribazón. La ordenación de las especies se ha realizado según la propuesta de Gallardo ét al. (1985)

El comienzo del Tirant parece violar muchas de las normas del ideal caballeresco literario. Para defender las Islas Británicas de una invasión musulmana, el Conde de Vàroic protege la ciudad con «bombardes, balestes e colobrines, e spingardes e molta altra artelleria» (v, 125). Como las tropas invasoras poseen una ventaja numérica de cincuenta a uno, el Conde también recurre a la llamada guerra asimétrica para vencer a un enemigo muy superior. El Conde emplea la alta tecnología—atacando el campamento sarraceno con artefactos incendiarios improvisados—y también la baja—dejando abrojos de cobre en el campo de batalla. El Conde entonces convierte el terreno de guerra en un inhibidor de fuerza, pues logra cambiar la fisionomía del campo para poder vencer a los sarracenos. El trabajo presente indica que estos elementos del Tirant son únicos en los libros de caballerías, pues el conde de Vàroic emprende una guerra asimétrica más típica del siglo xxi que de la Edad Media

Effect of the Si/B ratio on the magnetic anisotropy distribution of Fe73.5Si22.52xBxCu1Nb3 „x57,9,16… alloys along nanocrystallization

The effect of the Si/B ratio on the magnetic anisotropy distribution of Fe73.5Si22.52xBxCu1Nb3 (x57,9,16) alloys has been studied. The influence of isochronal annealing on the hysteresis loop of the three studied alloys has been analyzed. They present two minima in coercivity: the first one can be ascribed to structural relaxation, and the second one is related to the averaging of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy, as predicted by the random anisotropy model. The relative importance of both minima changes with Si content: the lower the Si content, the more effective the structural relaxation and the less important the second minimum are. The mean value of the magnetic anisotropy distribution presents a similar behavior, evidencing the growing importance of the magnetoelastic anisotropy for the relaxed amorphous samples as the Si content is increased. From the evolution of the magnetic anisotropy distribution along nanocrystallization and the microstructural information obtained from transmission electron microscopy images, the behavior of the coercivity minima with changes in Si content can be ascribed to a different degree in compensation of magnetoelastic anisotropy due to the contributions of different signs coming from the nanocrystals and the amorphous matrixCICYT. Cesar Conde Interview

Artist Bio: A post-contemporary painter, Conde uses old world technique using modern materials to paint his realistic portraits. Conde is a Filipino-American Chicago based artist who was primarily self-taught until he hit a wall with his technical skills. Upon realizing his artistic limitations, Conde decided to study at Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy with John Michael Angel, who apprenticed for Pietro Annigoni. He also studied with Master Painter of Technique Mixte, Patrick Betaudier in his atelier in Monflanquin, France. Conde’s influences are Carravaggio, Rehmbrant, and Goya. Conde continues to learn and explore the infinite possibilities of painting. Conde’s series “In The Hood – Portraits of African American Professionals Wearing a Hoodie.” won the first Paul Collins Diversity Award in ArtPrize 2014. His current work The Bang Bang Project started November 2014 after the acquittal of the police officer who shot Michael Brown. Conde was an Artist in Residence sponsored by Hebru at Lacuna Artist’s Lofts. He also was an Artist in residence in Monastir, Tunisia. Conde has exhibited in museums and galleries nationally and internationally. He is currently in a group exhibit in Taipei and has participated in Miami Art Basel 2013 and 2014. This summer, Conde will be going to the Philippines to paint a mural along with 9 other artists. This fall, he will exhibit at The Field Museum in Chicago sponsored by a grant from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in a show called “Art and Anthropology.” His works are in corporate and private collections. Latest acquisition of Conde’s work was by Grand Valley State University.
