Homeobox genes in normal and abnormal vasculogenesis
Homeobox containing genes are a family of transcription factors regulating normal development and controlling primary cellular processes (cell identity, cell division and differentiation) recently enriched by the discovery of their interaction with miRNAs and ncRNAs. Class I human homeobox genes (HOX genes) are characterized by a unique genomic network organization: four compact chromosomal loci where 39 sequence corresponding genes can be aligned with each other in 13 antero-posterior paralogous groups. The cardiovascular system is the first mesoderm organ-system to be generated during embryonic development; subsequently it generates the blood and lymphatic vascular systems. Cardiovascular remodelling is involved through homeobox gene regulation and deregulation in adult physiology (menstrual cycle and wound healing) and pathology (atherosclerosis, arterial restenosis, tumour angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis). Understanding the role played by homeobox genes in endothelial and smooth muscle cell phenotype determination will be crucial in identifying the molecular processes involved in vascular cell differentiation, as well as to support future therapeutic strategies. We report here on the current knowledge of the role played by homeobox genes in normal and abnormal vasculogenesis and postulate a common molecular mechanism accounting for the involvement of homeobox genes in the regulation of the nuclear export of specific transcripts potentially capable of generating endothelial phenotype modification involved in new vessel formation
Analysis of project management tools to support knowledge management
Knowledge Management is an essential element for the successful implementation of projects. Due to the temporary nature of the projects and the teams that participate in them, the transfer, integration, and management of knowledge among projects is vital to promote sharing best practices, and to avoid the repetition of previous mistakes, in order to increase the probability of success for the projects and the organization. For this reason, Project Management tools can play a significant role in supporting Knowledge Management. The goal of this paper is to analyze and evaluate the project management tools of the Gartner Leader quadrant (2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant) regarding their potential for the Capture, Storage, Sharing and Application of knowledge, according to the artifacts in the PMBOK [1], and determine which are the best options. Gartner's leader tools were compared to Confluence, referenced as a great choice for knowledge and project document management. For the development of the artifact was used the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology. The application that obtained the highest score was Targetprocess.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Timed Multiparty Session Types
We propose a typing theory, based on multiparty session types, for modular verification of real-time choreographic interactions. To model real-time implementations, we introduce a simple calculus with delays and a decidable static proof system. The proof system ensures type safety and time-error freedom, namely processes respect the prescribed timing and causalities between interactions. A decidable condition on timed global types guarantees time-progress for validated processes with delays, and gives a sound and complete characterisation of a new class of CTAs with general topologies that enjoys progress and liveness

Who are the prominent players in the UEFA champions league? : an approach based on network analysis
This study aimed to analyze the centrality levels of elite football players. Tactical positions and
tactical line-ups were considered factors to be used in analyzing the variance in the prominence of
players, measured by social network measures. The best 16 teams from the UEFA Champions league
were analyzed during the entire competition. A total of 109 matches were analyzed for this study.
Significant statistical differences between positions were found in % indegree (p = 0.001; ES = 0.268,
moderate effect), % outdegree (p = 0.001; ES = 0.301, moderate effect) and % betweenness (p = 0.001;
ES = 0.114, minimum effect). No statistical differences between tactical line-ups in % outdegree (p =
1.000; ES = 0.001, no effect) or % indegree (p = 1.000; ES = 0.001, no effect) were found. Central
midfielders had the greatest values of centrality, thus confirming their importance in the linkage process
of the team. Position had great influence on the centrality levels of players.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
An Application of IoT in a Drone Inspection Service for Environmental Control
This paper presents an exploratory activity with a drone inspection service for environmental control. The aim of the service is to provide technical support to decision-makers in environmental risk management. The proposed service uses IoT for the interaction between a mobile application, a Smart City platform, and an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The mobile application allows the users to report risky situations, such as fire ignition, spills of pollutants in water, or illegal dumping; the user has only to specify the class of the event, while the geographical coordinates are automatically taken from device-integrated GPS. The message sent from the mobile application arrives to a Smart City platform, which shows all the received alerts on a 3D satellite map, to support decision-makers in choosing where a drone inspection is required. From the Smart City platform, the message is sent to the drone service operator; a CSV file defining the itinerary of the drone is automatically built and shown through the platform; the drone starts the mission providing a video, which is used by the decision-makers to understand whether the situation calls for immediate action. An experimental activity in an open field was carried out to validate the whole chain, from the alert to the drone mission, enriched by a Smart City platform to enable a decision-maker to better manage the situation
Geogrid-Reinforced Soil Mat for Temporary Support of Heavy Equipment
Concrete blocks were used in a temporary storage facility to support replacement steam generators for a nuclear power plant. From the subsurface investigation, it was found that direct ground support of these concrete blocks was not feasible. In order to avoid the use of piles and associated concrete pile cap, which would be costly and take longer to build, a geogrid-reinforced soil mat foundation was adopted. The concrete blocks were put on a steel plate, which in turn rested on the geogrid-reinforced soil mat. Upon completion of the geogrid-reinforced structural fill mat, the replacement steam generators were moved into the temporary storage facility. Settlement monitoring of the concrete blocks proceeded for more than five months and disclosed settlements that were larger than those calculated. However, the measured settlements were still relatively small and the geogrid-reinforced soil mat foundation performed satisfactorily
Identifying the centrality levels of futsal players : a network approach
The aim of this study it was verify the differences of prominence levels between tactical positions in
futsal (indoor football). For that reason, it was performed an analysis of variance between competitive levels and
tactical positions for the centrality metrics computed by using network analysis. Forty-six futsal players from
different competitive levels (U12, U14, U16 and Amateurs) it were analysed during three official futsal matches.
Results revealed no differences in centrality metrics between competitive levels (p = 1.00; = 0.001; very small
effect size) had no significant statistical differences in the centrality metrics. Nevertheless, tactical position (p =
0.001; = 0.593; moderate effect size) had significant main effects on the centrality metrics. Centrality metrics
revealed that defenders are the most prominent players in to receive the ball. By the other hand, defenders and
wings are the positions with greater centralities in to pass the ball for the teammates.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Outdoor play and interaction skills in early childhood education : approaching for measuring using social network analysis
Over the last decade, researches show evidences that the free play and the outdoor activities have positive impact
on children, namely on social skills’ development as cooperation. However, the study of children interaction,
especially when we want to identify and study a particular type of interaction, like cooperative interaction,
requires a reflexion about the most efficient tolls and methods that can be used. With this article we intend to
present a first reflective review of mathematical techniques and methods that can be potentially useful in the
study of cooperative interactions with children in outdoor free play. Considering the characteristics of outdoor
learning environments, which are based on freedom and free play exploitation of nature, the methods used in
studies of this nature in indoor environment, tend to be more controlled by adults and more spatially limited,
may not be the most effective. We intend to demonstrate that it is necessary to create a combination of
mathematical techniques and methods based on the social network analysis, given the specificity of the
educational outdoor environment or the space level and the dynamics of activities that there are usually
generated.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
How team sports behave as a team? : general network metrics applied to sports analysis
The aim of this study was to analyse the general properties of networks in different team sports. Therefore, the analysis of variance to the general network properties between different team sports and different competitive levels was carried out. Sixty-six official matches (from Handball, Basketball, Football, Futsal, Rink-Hockey and Volleyball) were observed in five possible competitive levels (U12, U14, U16, U18 and Amateurs with more than 20 years). Analysis of variance revealed that the type of sport (p = 0.001; =0.647; moderate effect size) and competitive level(p = 0.001; = 0.355; small effect size)had significant statistical differences in the general network metrics. It was also found that football generates more connections between teammates but basketball and volleyball promote better results of density and clustering coefficient.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
