GKW representation theorem and linear BSDEs under restricted information. An application to risk-minimization
In this paper we provide Galtchouk-Kunita-Watanabe representation results in
the case where there are restrictions on the available information. This allows
to prove existence and uniqueness for linear backward stochastic differential
equations driven by a general c\`adl\`ag martingale under partial information.
Furthermore, we discuss an application to risk-minimization where we extend the
results of F\"ollmer and Sondermann (1986) to the partial information framework
and we show how our result fits in the approach of Schweizer (1994).Comment: 22 page
Exact Wave Solutions to 6D Gauged Chiral Supergravity
We describe a broad class of time-dependent exact wave solutions to 6D gauged
chiral supergravity with two compact dimensions. These 6D solutions are
nontrivial warped generalizations of 4D pp-waves and Kundt class solutions and
describe how a broad class of previously-static compactifications from 6D to 4D
(sourced by two 3-branes) respond to waves moving along one of the
uncompactified directions. Because our methods are generally applicable to any
higher dimensional supergravity they are likely to be of use for finding the
supergravity limit of time-dependent solutions in string theory. The 6D
solutions are interesting in their own right, describing 6D shock waves induced
by high energy particles on the branes, and as descriptions of the near-brane
limit of the transient wavefront arising from a local bubble-nucleation event
on one of the branes, such as might occur if a tension-changing phase
transition were to occur.Comment: 22 pages, 1 figure. Minor clarifications added. Accepted in JHE
Fungsi Dan Tanggung Jawab Hakim Pengawas Dalam Penyelesaian Harta Pailit
The Adoption of E-Auction in Indonesia: the Extended Technology Acceptance Model Study
In Indonesia, e-commerce generally associated with online shop. However, e-commerce's scope is bigger than just online shops; there are various other business/transaction forms that existed. Electronic auction or e-auction is one of the major online transaction forms (Huang & Dai, 2006). Nevertheless, some e-auction companies that entered Indonesia is struggling to penetrate Indonesia market (Cosseboom, 2014). This present study focused on the impact of extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) constructs (trust, enjoyment, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness) (Davis, 1989; Pavlou, 2003; Childers et al., 2001) and the antecedent constructs (security, time consumption, economic gain, and playfulness) in shaping Indonesian Consumers' attitude in the adoption of e-auction. To collect the data, simple random sampling method was employed. An online survey spread to the e-mail subscribers in an e-auction website, a total of 228 USAble responses were obtained. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) used to assess the measurement model, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) used to test the hypotheses. Result indicated that Security, Economic Gain, and Playfulness have significant positive impact to extended TAM constructs, while time Consumption has negative, but insignificant impact to extended TAM constructs. In addition, all extended TAM constructs have significant positive impact toward attitude in using e-auction
Absolute quantification of the host-to-parasite DNA ratio in Theileria parva-infected lymphocyte cell lines
Theileria parva is a tick-transmitted intracellular apicomplexan pathogen of cattle in sub-Saharan Africa that causes East Coast fever (ECF). ECF is an acute fatal disease that kills over one million cattle annually, imposing a tremendous burden on African small-holder cattle farmers. The pathology and level of T. parva infections in its wildlife host, African buffalo (Syncerus caffer), and in cattle are distinct. We have developed an absolute quantification method based on quantitative PCR (qPCR) in which recombinant plasmids containing single copy genes specific to the parasite (apical membrane antigen 1 gene, ama1) or the host (hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase 1, hprt1) are used as the quantification reference standards. Our study shows that T. parva and bovine cells are present in similar numbers in T. parva-infected lymphocyte cell lines and that consequently, due to its much smaller genome size, T. parva DNA comprises between 0.9% and 3% of the total DNA samples extracted from these lines. This absolute quantification assay of parasite and host genome copy number in a sample provides a simple and reliable method of assessing T. parva load in infected bovine lymphocytes, and is accurate over a wide range of host-to-parasite DNA ratios. Knowledge of the proportion of target DNA in a sample, as enabled by this method, is essential for efficient high-throughput genome sequencing applications for a variety of intracellular pathogens. This assay will also be very useful in future studies of interactions of distinct host-T. parva stocks and to fully characterize the dynamics of ECF infection in the field
Slater-Pauling Rule and Curie-Temperature of Co-based Heusler compounds
A concept is presented serving to guide in the search for new materials with
high spin polarization. It is shown that the magnetic moment of half-metallic
ferromagnets can be calculated from the generalized Slater-Pauling rule.
Further, it was found empirically that the Curie temperature of Co based
Heusler compounds can be estimated from a seemingly linear dependence on the
magnetic moment. As a successful application of these simple rules, it was
found that CoFeSi is, actually, the half-metallic ferromagnet exhibiting
the highest magnetic moment and the highest Curie temperature measured for a
Heusler compound
Systematical, experimental investigations on LiMgZ (Z= P, As, Sb) wide band gap semiconductors
This work reports on the experimental investigation of the wide band gap
compounds LiMgZ (Z = P, As, Sb), which are promising candidates for
opto-electronics and anode materials for Lithium batteries. The compounds
crystallize in the cubic (C1_b) MgAgAs structure (space group F-43m). The
polycrystalline samples were synthesized by solid state reaction methods. X-ray
and neutron diffraction measurements show a homogeneous, single-phased samples.
The electronic properties were studied using the direct current (DC) method.
Additionally UV-VIS diffuse reflectance spectra were recorded in order to
investigate the band gap nature. The measurements show that all compounds
exhibit semiconducting behavior with direct band gaps of 1.0 eV to 2.3 eV
depending on the Z element. A decrease of the peak widths in the static 7Li
nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra with increasing temperature was
observed, which can directly be related to an increase of Li ion mobility.Comment: 8 page
The relationship between flux coefficient and entrainment ratio in density currents
Author Posting. © American Meteorological Society, 2010. This article is posted here by permission of American Meteorological Society for personal use, not for redistribution. The definitive version was published in Journal of Physical Oceanography 40 (2010): 2713–2727, doi:10.1175/2010JPO4225.1.The authors explore the theoretical and empirical relationship between the nonlocal quantities of the entrainment ratio E, the appropriately depth- and time-averaged flux coefficient Γ, and the bulk Froude number Fro in density currents. The main theoretical result is that E = 0.125 Γ Fro2(CU3/CL)/cosθ, where θ is the angle of the slope over which the density current flows, CL is the ratio the turbulent length scale to the depth of the density current, and CU is the ratio of the turbulent velocity scale to the mean velocity of the density current. In the case of high bulk Froude numbers Γ Fro−2 and (CU3/CL) = Cϵ 1, so E 0.1, consistent with observations of a constant entrainment ratio in unstratified jets and weakly stratified plumes. For bulk Froude numbers close to one, Γ is constant and has a value in the range of 0.1–0.3, which means that E Fro2, again in agreement with observations and previous experiments. For bulk Froude numbers less than one, Γ decreases rapidly with bulk Froude number, explaining the sudden decrease in entrainment ratios that has been observed in all field and experimental observations.Support for MGW was provided

Quantum Electrodynamics near a Huttner-Barnett dielectric
We build up a consistent theory of quantum electrodynamics in the presence of
macroscopic polarizable media. We use the Huttner-Barnett model of a dispersive
and absorbing dielectric medium and formulate the theory in terms of
interacting quantum fields. We integrate out the damped polaritons by using
diagrammatic techniques and find an exact expression for the displacement field
(photon) propagator in the presence of a dispersive and absorbing dielectric
half-space. This opens a new route to traceable perturbative calculations of
the same kind as in free-space quantum electrodynamics. As a worked-through
example we consider the interaction of a neutral atom with a dispersive and
absorbing dielectric half-space. For that we use the multipolar coupling
of the atomic dipole moment to the
electromagnetic displacement field. We apply the newly developed formalism to
calculate the one-loop correction to the atomic electron propagator and find
the energy-level shift and changes in the spontaneous decay rates for a neutral
atom close to an absorptive dielectric mirror.Comment: 25 pages, 4 figure
