The self-regulation of internet activities is a challenge between technology and human interaction, particularly in adolescents. It is very important to study the relationship between self-regulation and internet addiction since humans have become closely connected to technology in recent decades. The objective of the present research was to study the relationship between internet addiction and self-regulation by assessing the habits of university students. The samples consisted of 500 first-year students residing in Chiang Mai University dormitories, and data were collected from questionnaires regarding personal information, the Internet Addiction Test (IAT), and self-regulation assessment. Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationship between internet addiction and self-regulation. The results of the study revealed that the level of internet addiction had a moderately positive relation with poor self-regulation, which had a correlation coefficient of 0.560 with a statistical significance level of 0.01. Further, the level of internet addiction had a low negative relation with good self-regulation, which had a correlation coefficient equal to -0.262 with a statistical significance level of 0.01. Hence, creating the necessary assistance and solutions is required to achieve a healthy balance in the behavior of young individuals

Stress is the problem that is often found in students due to their higher expectations and the changes happening at the personal, social and environmental levels. The main objective of the present study was to develop and analyze the results of a stress management programme conducted for students at Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai, Thailand. This was quasi-experimental research, conducted according to the one-group plan. The student initiatives included five Chiang Mai University students, selected through purposive sampling after passing the initial screening. They were evaluated by completing the basic information questionnaire of the Suanprung Stress Test-20 (SPST-20) and the Suanprung Stress Test-60 (SPST-60) before and after the programme. The tools used in this study were developed from the conceptual framework according to the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement (CMOP-E) model. The researcher used the breathing technique using the diaphragm, and muscle relaxing technique. The concept of emotional awareness was conducted according to the four foundations of mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with group process in occupational therapy. The results of the study revealed that the sample population had significantly lower stress levels after joining the stress management programme. However, it was observed that there was no difference in the susceptibility to stress levels before or after joining the programme. In general, this stress management programme can be undertaken by other students of Chiang Mai University to monitor their stress levels

The objective of this study was to develop a Resilience Programme through Group Dynamics on Academic Problems among Matthayom Suksa 1 Students at Chiang Mai University Demonstration School. For this, four junior high school students were selected as respondents. The effect of the resilience program was evaluated through a general questionnaire, the Canadian Occupational Performance Measures (COPM), and Resilience Inventory. Further, the resilience program was developed by using cognitive behavioral therapy combined with acceptance and commitment therapy, group dynamics, and resilience according to the concept of Grotberg. The total period of the program was 11 weeks, with 1 session per week lasting for 60 minutes. Results of the study revealed that all the selected respondents had higher academic performance and most of them (75%) had higher academic satisfaction and resilience score. After participating in this program, the samples had a higher average resilience score (114.5) as compared to those before participating in the program (107.5). The results of this study can be concluded that the newly developed resilience program can improve the resilience component in almost all the students. Hence, it can be practiced in junior high school students to manage their academic problems. This program can also be a prototype for developing future resilience programs

Environmental-friendly behaviours are increasingly imperative in the current era to diminish the speed of environmental degradation and its damaging impacts. Increased sports and physical activities entail positive health outcomes, as well as having the potential to reduce vehicle-related carbon emissions. Therefore, the present study investigates the impact of sports and physical activities and public health spending on environmental performance in 50 U.S. states for the period 2010–2019. The system of the generalised method of moment (G.M.M.) and feasible generalised least squares (F.G.L.S.) are employed in the present analysis. The results reveal that sports and physical activities are significantly increases environmental performance in U.S. Similarly, health expenditures are negatively and significantly associated with air pollution and encourage overall environmental performance. However, economic growth contributes to higher emissions and therefore impede environmental performance. The interaction term of health expenditures and sports activities indicate that the combination of higher health expenditures with sports activities puts a profound effect on environmental quality. These findings signal the need to retrace health care spending programs and sports activities to accomplish zero-carbon targets and better environmental performance

The prevalence of epidemiological health-risk behaviors and mental well-being in the COVID-19 pandemic, stratified by sociodemographic factors in Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) university students, were examined in the research. Data were collected in March–June 2021 via an online survey from 15,366 university students from 17 universities in seven ASEAN countries. Analyzed data comprised results on physical activity, health-related behaviors, mental well-being, and sociodemographic information. A large proportion of university students consumed sugar-sweetened beverages (82.0%; 95%CI: 81.4, 82.6) and snacks/fast food daily (65.2%; 95%CI: 64.4, 66.0). About half (52.2%; 95%CI: 51.4, 53.0) consumed less than the recommended daily amounts of fruit/vegetable and had high salt intake (54%; 95%CI: 53.3, 54.8). Physical inactivity was estimated at 39.7% (95%CI: 38.9, 40.5). A minority (16.7%; 95%CI: 16.1, 17.3) had low mental well-being, smoked (8.9%; 95%CI: 8.4, 9.3), and drank alcohol (13.4%; 95%CI: 12.8, 13.9). Country and body mass index had a significant correlation with many health-risk behaviors and mental well-being. The research provided important baseline data for guidance and for the monitoring of health outcomes among ASEAN university students and concludes that healthy diet, physical activity, and mental well-being should be key priority health areas for promotion among university students

    Get PDF
Ethical principles are among the topics that are widely emphasised in the Islamic society. Ethics is a set of values, do’s and don’ts that can play an important role in the effective management of organisations. If employees of organisations, especially medical staff, are working in the atmosphere of Islamic ethics, they show functional behaviours in line with the goals and missions of organisation. Due to the direct relationship and treatment of nurses with recipients of medical services, nurses’ behaviours have significant impact on the quality of services provided by medical centres. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between Islamic ethics and commitment of 1100 Muslim nurses in Indonesia in 2021. This study was performed by descriptive-analytical correlational method. Data were collected using Islamic ethics and organisational commitment questionnaires and measured by Pearson correlation coefficient in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and structural equation modelling analysis (SEM) in linear structural relationships (LISREL). The results indicate that Islamic ethics have significant and positive relationship with nurses’ commitment as p = 0.542 and t = 5.63
