This study aimed to explore the experience of supervision for integrative coach- therapist practitioners. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five integrative coach-therapists. An interpretative phenomenological analysis was utilised. The analysis created three distinct superordinate themes: 1) Bifurcation and arbitrary lines, 2) Detective work and 3) A conscious sense of belonging. Each of these overarching themes was supported by a number of subordinate themes that encapsulate the particularities and complexities of the integrative coach-therapist experience. One of the key findings of the study was that there appeared to be both similarities and differences for integrative coach-therapists when compared with the general literature on supervision experience. A similarity to previous research findings was the relational difficulties highlighted by the supervision literature. For example: power dynamics, supervisee anxiety and boundary issues were present in the participants’ experience. However, a key divergence, was a finding encapsulated by the superordinate theme “A conscious sense of belonging”. This finding suggests that the integrative coach-therapist practitioners have their own unique needs in supervision and these needs are integral to their professional identity. These findings suggest that integrative coach-therapists face challenges and complex relationships in their supervisory encounters. However, the practitioners also see great potential for supervision to help foster their professional identity. These insights into practitioners’ experience of supervision highlight avenues for future research. Further qualitative enquiry into particular topic areas was illuminated, such as group supervision and supervisor experience. An important implication for counselling psychology practice is that individual integrative coach-therapists may experience supervision differently, precisely because of how they integrate practice. Given counselling psychology’s interest in pluralistic practice, the discipline is thus in a unique position to engage with the development of contemporary integrative practices, such as integrative coach-therapy

    Get PDF
A research had been conducted to study the effect of the addition of activated carbon (AC) on TiO2 photocatalyst and its photocatalytic activity in photodegradation process of metanil yellow dye. The research was performed through the preparation of activated carbon from coconut shell and modification of photocatalyst TiO2–AC. Experiment of metanil yellow photodegradation by photocatalyst TiO2–AC was performed at the weight ratio of TiO2:AC of 9,9:0,1 and 9,5:0,5 with the concentrations of metanil yellow of 2–50 ppm, and time variations of UV rays irradiation of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 19 and 20 hours. The results showed that the highest percentage of photodegradation process obtained at the weight ratio of TiO2:AC of 9,9:0,1 and the photodegradation activity was increased along with increasing irradiation tim

Automatic annotation of tennis games: an integration of audio, vision, and learning

    Get PDF
Fully automatic annotation of tennis game using broadcast video is a task with a great potential but with enormous challenges. In this paper we describe our approach to this task, which integrates computer vision, machine listening, and machine learning. At the low level processing, we improve upon our previously proposed state-of-the-art tennis ball tracking algorithm and employ audio signal processing techniques to detect key events and construct features for classifying the events. At high level analysis, we model event classification as a sequence labelling problem, and investigate four machine learning techniques using simulated event sequences. Finally, we evaluate our proposed approach on three real world tennis games, and discuss the interplay between audio, vision and learning. To the best of our knowledge, our system is the only one that can annotate tennis game at such a detailed level

Long-term follow-up of residual masses after chemotherapy in patients with non-seminomatous germ cell tumours

This retrospective study was undertaken to determine the outcome of patients with non-seminomatous germ cell tumour who achieved a serological complete response but who had residual radiologic abnormalities upon completion of primary platinum-based chemotherapy. This was an analysis of 76 consecutive patients treated at Mount Vernon Hospital between 1983 and 1997. The patients were placed into two groups based upon whether they had surgical resection (surgery group, 48 patients) or observation (observation group, 28 patients) of residual radiologic masses on completion of initial chemotherapy (to enter the surgery group, complete surgical resection must have been achieved). The primary end-points were progression-free and overall survival. The percentage of patients alive with median follow-up 66 months was 90% for the surgery group and 80% for the observation group (P= 0.53, not significant). The percentage of patients continuously disease-free was 70% in the surgery group and 80% in the observation group (P= 0.31, not significant). In the small sub-group of patients with differentiated teratoma (TD) in the primary lesion who were observed, there was no excess risk of relapse or death. Patients who achieve a serological complete response after primary chemotherapy, but are left with ≀ 2 cm radiological masses that are not cystic and have responded, can be safely observed with diligent follow-up. © 2000 Cancer ResearchCampaig

Professionalism, golf coaching and a master of science degree

A distinction can be made between 'professionalisation', which is concerned with occupational status and standing, and 'professionalism,' which refers to matters of quality and standards of practice (especially specialized knowledge, ethics and altruism). The purpose of this stimulus article is to present key features of contemporary medical professionalism as a basis for critically reflecting on discourse associated with Tiger Woods' current coach, Sean Foley. It is suggested that that provision of a Master of Science degree in golf teaching/coaching would facilitate the development of 'professionalism' in golf coaches
