Nanoclusters binding energy in diatomic model

    Get PDF
There is proposed the general formulation of the diatomic model to calculate nanoclusters binding energy, the key value determining their relative stabilities and, consequently, concentrations in forming processes. The simple special case of practical interest, when all the bond lengths can be assumed to be almost equal each to other is considered in details

LITERARY FICTION AND REPRESENTATION OF HISTORY: GEORGIAN CASE STUDY

    Get PDF
In the nineteenth century the process of history professionalization took place. It was characterized by exclusive development of the discipline. The “founding fathers” tried to bold the borderlines between the history and other disciplines and sharpen the focus of historical researches. Just this view was reflected in fact of choosing archival data and official documents as only reliable type of sources and also the established view about the honest academic enabling to represent “what actually happened”  ̶  formula proposed by L.Ranke. In the twentieth century subject of history was conceptualized in a new way. This was an epoch of so-called “New History” which had introduced interdisciplinary approach in historical research. The new generation of historians developed interest to the topics which in recent past might be treated as not relevant for the academic occupation. In this very context appeared necessity of literary sources’ use. This search for new sources was favoured by the coincidence in time with dispute about historicity of literature. The part of practitioners of history ignored it and preferred to make history in a traditional way, i.e. in spirit of Rankean historiography. This was case at least in Georgia and it continued to be the same in nowadays. The paper aims to fill (of course only partially) this gap in Georgian scholarship. It uses one monument of nineteenth century Georgian literary fiction for reconstructing of reality and elaborates on more general topic concerning the realistic prose as important source for history representation

Effect of Static Atomic Charges on Small Elemental Clusters: Evidence from Boron

    Get PDF
Study examines the effect of static atomic charges on small elemental clusters relative stability. For this purpose equilibrium bonds length and specific (per atom) binding energy of all-boron neutral, anionic and cationic planar clusters Bn containing n ≤ 15 atoms are calculated in the frames of phenomenological diatomic molecular model imagining the cluster as a construction of pair interatomic chemical bonds. In elemental clusters, which are finite structures of chemically identical but differently coordinated atoms, static charges of atoms are assumed to be proportional to their coordination numbers. Most symmetric clusters have revealed the non-monotonic dependencies of B-B length and specific binding energy on n, which seem to be related with differences in their structures. Obtained results provoke reconsidering the usual assumption that the equilibrium isomer of a cluster corresponds to its highest symmetry even at the significant static electrical charges localized on atomic sites

Mean Electric Field of Dielectric Nanoparticle

    Get PDF
The nanoscale effect of the formation of an electric field near the surface of a dielectric nanoparticle is discussed within the framework of the proposed model based on the reconstruction of the crystal surface, including the splitting of the surface atomic layer into two parallel sublayers consisting of atoms with only positive or only negative effective static electric charges, respectively. The mean electric field potential and strength are obtained depending on the distance from the surface and the numerical values of their parameters for hexagonal boron nitride are estimated

Type of pollination and indices of fruit set of some Georgian grapevine varieties

Pollen characteristics (length, width, diameter, number of pores and stain ability), type of pollination, fruit set and number of seeds per berry of the eight Georgian autochthonous grapevine varieties Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Gorula, Gorula no. 21, Tsulukidzis Tetra, Alexandrouli, Mujuretuli and Orbeluri Ojaleshi have been investigated. It is concluded that for fruitset of the tested hermaphrodite grapevine varieties, self-pollination plays a predominant role, but in addition crosspollination is necessary for their high fruitset.

Nanopowder Boron Compounds Doped with Ferromagnetic Clusters for BNCT

Study examines the problem of development of novel nanomaterials serving for boron 10B isotope delivery agents in Boron-Neutron-Capture-Therapy (BNCT). For this purpose, there is done a mini-review on Nano powder boron compounds especially prospective for BNCT; magnetic Nano carriers of the therapeutically active agents in general, delivery of which can be controlled by using of an external magnetic field; as well as methods of synthesis of nanocomposites comprising components of both kinds. Based on recent literature analysis, boron nitride and boron carbide Nano powders doped with ferromagnetic iron oxide nanoclusters are recommended for BNCT as effective delivery agents with good biocompatibility

Polyhedral Model of Carbon Nanotubes Analytically Describing their Geometry

    Get PDF
For carbon nanotubes, there is constructed a geometric model of polyhedral type, which allows the expressing their key structural parameters analytically, as functions of C–C bonds length and nanotube indices. In general, explicit formulas are obtained for 1D lattice constant and radius. Cylindrical coordinates of atomic sites and inter-site distances in carbon nanotubes are additionally found for achiral (zigzag and armchair) nanotubes. „Analytic‟ geometric model will be useful for theoretical determination of groundstate and electronic structure parameters of carbon nanotubular materials, credible analysis of corresponding experimental data, as well as purposeful designing devices based on nanotubular carbon
