Eredità desanctisiane nella moderna lettura della «Phèdre» di Racine

Al di là dei risultati storici e storiografici consegnati per sempre al patrimonio della nostra civiltà da Francesco De Sanctis, il presente contributo punta a sottolineare quella parte del metodo critico desanctisiano ancora vitale e utilizzabile, se non indispensabile, nel ventunesimo secolo per il lettore e l’interprete dei testi letterari. E lo fa con l’analisi di un saggio non tra i maggiori della sua opera omnia, La «Fedra» di Racine, pubblicato la prima volta nel 1856 («Rivista contemporanea», a. III, vol. V, pp. 597-615). La scelta non è casuale sia perché il tema è di tal natura da attenuare la caratterizzazione, presente in tutti gli scritti desanctisiani, della concezione tutta politica della letteratura come voce e anima d’un popolo, sia perché in questo saggio i principi vitali del metodo che egli ha lasciato in eredità sono trattati con stringatezza didattica che valorizza la lezione e con lucidità più semplice e lineare che altrove

The Focal Play Therapy: A Clinical Approach to Promote Child Health and Family Well-being

Eating and evacuation disorders can cause serious health problems for children. Early recognition and early treatment require a multifactor intervention based on a collaborative relationship between pediatricians, psychotherapists and other health professionals. In this context the Focal Play Therapy (FPT) with children and parents is a psychodynamic model of intervention that improves parental ability to cope with child's difficulties. Parental engagement in child interventions allows to understand child's symptoms within family dynamics and to build an alliance with parents that represents a crucial variable of an effective psychological support for children and families. In the present study data were collected from 17 parental couples and their preschool children at two time points (1st and 6th FPT sessions) marking the first phase of this intervention. This phase was aimed to the assessment of child's symptoms within family relationships and to the promotion of the alliance with parents. Families were in treatment at the Psychological Consultation Center for Children and Parents located at the Department of Psychology of the University of Bologna (Italy). This Center provides health assessment and intervention services to children and their families. We investigated the alliance from both parents and therapist points of view along with other parental and child outcome variables implied in clinical works with children and families. Alliance scores were obtained through the Working Alliance Inventory and the System for Observing Family Therapy Alliances, two measures used in individual and family settings, respectively. Parenting stress and parent-child interactions were investigated using the Parenting Stress Index and the Emotional Availability Scales. Furthermore, paired t-tests were run to detect changes on parental and child variables. Findings advise that special attention should be paid to the building of an early alliance with parents. In this regard the FPT is specifically designed to promote the parent-therapist alliance in the context of child health and family well-being

Enhanced Fluorescence Imaging of Live Cells by Effective Cytosolic Delivery of Probes

Background Microscopic techniques enable real-space imaging of complex biological events and processes. They have become an essential tool to confirm and complement hypotheses made by biomedical scientists and also allow the re-examination of existing models, hence influencing future investigations. Particularly imaging live cells is crucial for an improved understanding of dynamic biological processes, however hitherto live cell imaging has been limited by the necessity to introduce probes within a cell without altering its physiological and structural integrity. We demonstrate herein that this hurdle can be overcome by effective cytosolic delivery. Principal Findings We show the delivery within several types of mammalian cells using nanometre-sized biomimetic polymer vesicles (a.k.a. polymersomes) that offer both highly efficient cellular uptake and endolysomal escape capability without any effect on the cellular metabolic activity. Such biocompatible polymersomes can encapsulate various types of probes including cell membrane probes and nucleic acid probes as well as labelled nucleic acids, antibodies and quantum dots. Significance We show the delivery of sufficient quantities of probes to the cytosol, allowing sustained functional imaging of live cells over time periods of days to weeks. Finally the combination of such effective staining with three-dimensional imaging by confocal laser scanning microscopy allows cell imaging in complex three-dimensional environments under both mono-culture and co-culture conditions. Thus cell migration and proliferation can be studied in models that are much closer to the in vivo situation

¿Hortalizas saludables en el Gran La Plata?: representaciones de consumidores/as y horticultores/as en transición agroecológica

Actualmente para una alimentación saludable se recomienda el consumo de 550 gr diarios de hortalizas y frutas (fuente: Guías Alimentarias para la Población Argentina), pero no diferencia entre producción convencional y agroecológica en la definición de saludable. En el marco de un proyecto de I+D en ejecución desde la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestales de la UNLP, cuya finalidad es diseñar e implementar un sistema participativo de garantía (SPG) junto a horticultores/as familiares y consumidores/as, que nos proponemos en ésta comunicación, contrastar las representaciones acerca de qué es lo saludable para productores/as, que están iniciando una transición de sus sistemas de producción convencionales a agroecológicos, y de un conjunto de consumidores/as. La estrategia metodológica utilizada se basó en un conjunto de técnicas y herramientas tanto cuantitativas como cualitativas: cuestionario aplicado a consumidores/as en el momento de compra en las ferias, entrevistas abiertas a horticultores/as, análisis documental. Se diseñó una herramienta con fines específicos para este trabajo. Se aplicó en las feria: Manos de la Tierra (FCAyF) y en forma online para abarcar más consumidores/as, durante el año 2019. Del total de la población encuestada de 280 consumidores/as; se destaca el consumo de hortalizas agroecológicas para mejorar la salud, porque está libre de agroquímicos, por su contenido de vitaminas y minerales, por el contenido nutricional y para prevenir enfermedades. A partir del análisis descriptivo obtenido y la importancia que se le otorga a la dimensión saludable, se amplió la indagación a horticultores/as agroecológicos implicados y a diferentes tipos de consumidores/as que expresan una diversidad de sentidos a la representación de hortalizas saludables. Para el equipo de investigación y extensión la información de las representaciones sociales permitirá problematizar al interior de las organizaciones de horticultores/as y consumidores/as interesados en la alimentación saludable. Fatality rate and predictors of mortality in an Italian cohort of hospitalized COVID-19 patients

Clinical features and natural history of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) differ widely among different countries and during different phases of the pandemia. Here, we aimed to evaluate the case fatality rate (CFR) and to identify predictors of mortality in a cohort of COVID-19 patients admitted to three hospitals of Northern Italy between March 1 and April 28, 2020. All these patients had a confirmed diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection by molecular methods. During the study period 504/1697 patients died; thus, overall CFR was 29.7%. We looked for predictors of mortality in a subgroup of 486 patients (239 males, 59%; median age 71 years) for whom sufficient clinical data were available at data cut-off. Among the demographic and clinical variables considered, age, a diagnosis of cancer, obesity and current smoking independently predicted mortality. When laboratory data were added to the model in a further subgroup of patients, age, the diagnosis of cancer, and the baseline PaO2/FiO2 ratio were identified as independent predictors of mortality. In conclusion, the CFR of hospitalized patients in Northern Italy during the ascending phase of the COVID-19 pandemic approached 30%. The identification of mortality predictors might contribute to better stratification of individual patient risk
