Photoproduction of electron-positron pairs in bent single crystals

The process of photoproduction of electron-positron pairs in bent single crystals is considered in this paper. In particular, it is shown that the probability of the process for gamma-quanta with energies from 100 GeV on is significantly higher than the one in an amorphous medium. A possible scenario for the experimental validation of the process is discussed and the positive features of the photoproduction in bent crystals compared to straight ones are underlined from the point of view of possible applications.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure

Channeling of high energy beams in nanotubes

We present simulations of particle beam channeling in carbon nanotubes and evaluate the possibilities for experimental observation of channeling effect in straight and bent nanotubes at IHEP and LNF. Different particle species are considered: protons of 1.3 and 70 GeV, and positrons of 0.5 GeV. Predictions are made for the experiments, with analysis of requirements on the quality of nanosamples and resolution of the experimental set-up. Based on Monte Carlo simulations, the capabilities of nanotube channeling technique for particle beam steering are discussed

Radiation of photons in process of charge particle volume reflection in bent single crystal

New type of radiation in crystals is predicted and investigated in computer simulation. It is shown that process of volume reflection of electrons and positrons in bent crystals is accomplished with high-power radiation of photons. Volume reflection radiation has intensity comparable with known channeling radiation, but it is less sensitive to entrance angle and sign of charge of a particle. Simulated spectra of radiation power are presented for 10 GeV and 200GeV particles.Comment: Latex, 8 pages, 4 fig

Assessment of Pyrometallurgical Scheme Options of Red Mud and Scale Co-processing

The analysis of various options for the use of alumina production wastes (red mud) and oiled scale using various methods of agglomeration to produce conditioned commercial iron is presented. Co-processing utilization of red mud and oiled scale allows to obtain raw materials with an iron content of more than 50%, which meets the modern requirements for charge materials for use in the blast furnace process. The calculation analysis carried out using a mathematical model of blast furnace process, allowed to determine the optimal proportion of the iron-containing material for the partial replacement of charge materials without reducing the technical and economic indicators of blast furnace smelting. Nucleon resonance contributions to unpolarised inclusive electron scattering

The first CLAS12 experiments will provide high-precision data on inclusive electron scattering observables at a photon virtuality Q2Q^2 ranging from 0.05 GeV2^2 to 12 GeV2^2 and center-of-mass energies WW up to 4 GeV. In view of this endeavour, we present the modeling of the resonant contributions to the inclusive electron scattering observables. As input, we use the existing CLAS electrocoupling results obtained from exclusive meson electroproduction data off protons, and evaluate for the first time the resonant contributions based on the experimental results on the nucleon resonance electroexcitation. The uncertainties are given by the data and duly propagated through a Monte Carlo approach. In this way, we obtain estimates for the resonant contributions, important for insight into the nucleon parton distributions in the resonance region and for the studies of quark-hadron duality

The purpose of this article is to estimate the best available technologies for values of the following technological numbers: fuel, ecological, depreciation, greenhouse and their sums. All these numbers have power dimension: t of conditional fuel/unit of production that allows to put them. The fuel technological number characterizes power consumption of production. The technological ecological number transfers a payment of the enterprise for environmental pollution to power units. The technological depreciation number transfers depreciation charges from rubles to power units. The technological greenhouse number translates a payment of the enterprise for emissions of greenhouse gases in power units. Technological numbers have through character – from extraction of raw materials before receiving finished goods. The best available technologies are characterized by the smallest sum of all technological numbers. Keywords: through power-ecological analysis, power ecological capacity of production of steel products, technological fuel ecological greenhouse number, best available technologies, climatic neutralit
