Topology Driven Improvement of FDC Build Parameters
The likeliest failure origin for advanced ceramics parts, prepared by fused
deposition, is a void from improper fill. Adequate filling of each cross-section is dependent upon the deposition toolpath. Cross-sectional spaces are conventionally
filled with pre-defined parameters. We propose that adaptive build parameters will
control variations in geometry and property of a part. Voids, overfilling,
incomplete bonding and excess traversing can be suppressed by adjusting the fill
parameters for cross-sectional areas. Improved build parameters and toolpath
allows for faster build time and components ofj full density. Some implementations

A Family Strengths Approach to Early Language and Literacy Development
Language and literacy skills are an essential element of young childrenâs development and allow them to interact meaningfully with other people and to develop knowledge in all subject areas. Despite the importance of language and literacy development, however, more than one third of children in the United States enter school with significant differences in language, early literacy skills, and motivation to learn that place them at considerable risk for developing long-term reading difficulties. The quantity and quality of language interactions children have with their parents and exposure to print in their home environment prior to entering school have an important impact on these individual differences. This paper provides teachers with guidelines and tools for helping families identify and create language and literacy opportunities in their home environment that reflect their unique strengths and routines

Measurement of urinary beta core fragment of human chorionic gonadotrophin in women with vulvovaginal malignancy and its prognostic significance
Tumours of the vulva and vagina are rare and there are relatively few studies of circulating markers in these conditions. The urinary measurement of the core fragment of the beta-subunit of hCG has been proposed as a useful tumour marker in non-trophoblastic gynaecological malignancies. This study describe the measurement of urinary beta-core in 50 patients with vulvovaginal malignancy. In contrast to other studies corrections were made for both the effect of urine concentration and the age of the patient. Each patient was followed up for at least 24 months, and at this time their status was correlated with their initial level of urinary beta-core. The sensitivity of beta-core was only 38%, but of those patients with elevated levels 90% had died within 24 months, while only 32% of those with normal levels had died. For both patients at initial presentation and those with recurrent disease, there was a highly significant difference in the survival curve between those with elevated beta-core levels and those with normal levels. This is similar to findings in cervical carcinoma, and suggests that for lower genital tract cancer the measurement of urinary beta-core may be valuable as a prognostic indicator, allowing a more informed approach to treatment and follow-up

Determining cooling rates from mica <sup>40</sup>Ar/ <sup>39</sup>Ar thermochronology data: effect of cooling path shape
Tectonic models are commonly underpinned by metamorphic cooling rates derived fromd iffusive-loss thermochronology data. Such cooling agesare usually linked to temperature via Dodsonâs 1973 closure temperature (TC) formulation, which specifies a 1/time shaped cooling path. Geologists, however,commonly discuss cooling rates as a linear temperature/time shape. We present the results of a series of simple finite-difference diffusion models for Ar diffusion in muscovite and biotite that show that the difference in recorded age between 1/t and linear cooling paths increases significantly with hotter starting temperatures, slower cooling rates and smaller grain sizes. Our results show that it is essential to constrain the cooling path shape in order to make meaningful interpretations of the measured data
