Globalització i ciutadania democràtica

L’autora pensa que la teoriapolítica que predomina actualment és incapaç de concebre una formade política democràtica apropiada per a aquesta època de postguerra freda i globalització. Per aquesta raó, considera que cal elaborar un nou model,que anomena “pluralisme agnòstic”, els principis fonamentals del qual intenta definir. Al final presenta algunes reflexions relacionades amb el tipus de política progressista que considera la més adequada per aprofundir la ciutadania democràtica en l’època actual de globalització

RADIKALNA DEMOKRACIJA IN MODERNA

The author discusses the current debates about modernity and postmodernity from the point of view of the radical democratic project. She tries to show that the critique of the modern rationalist universalist (Enlightenment) epistemology does not necessarily have to lead to political conservatism, as e. g. Habermas (among others) has argued. On the contrary, the critique of this epistemology is what makes possible the articulation of the project of radical and plural democracy. This project is defined as the continuation of the democratic tradition using the tools of the postmodern age.Avtorica obravnava aktualne razprave o modernizmu in postmodernizmu z vidika projekta radikalne demokracije. Dokazuje, da zavračanje moderne (razsvetljenske) racionalistične univerzalistične epistemologije ne pelje nujno v politični konserva-tivizem (kot meni npr. Habermas). Nasprotno, kritika te epistemologije odpira možnosti za artikulacijo projekta radikalne in pluralne demokracije. Avtorica označuje ta projekt kot nadaljevanje demokratične revolucije s pomočjo postmodernistične kritike

Chantal Mouffe argues that the consensus established between centre-right and centre-left parties on the notion there is no alternative to neoliberal globalisation has left Europe in a post-democratic phase, fuelling the rise of right-wing populist parties. Moral condemnation and demonisation of the supporters of such parties does not work: what is required is an alternative populism that is reformulated in a progressive way, defining the adversary as the configuration of forces that strengthen and promote the neoliberal project

»Das Blatt wendet sich« erklärt Milton Friedman am Schluß seines neuen Buches »Free to choose«, dessen Hauptthesen auch in einer Fernsehserie vorgestellt wurden, die in Großbritannien und den USA 10 Wochen lief und deren Ziel es offentsichtlich war, genau zu der Veränderung der öffentlichen Meinung gegenüber dem Wohlfahrtsstaat beizutragen, die Friedman angekündigt hatte. Nach einigen Jahrzehnten von Staatsinterventionen in allen Bereichen des sozialen Lebens und angesichts des Scheiterns westlicher Regierungen, ihre erklärten Ziele zu erreichen, beginnen die Leute - seiner Meinung nach-, die Gefahren einer »überregierten« Gesellschaft und die Bedrohnung der Freiheit des Menschen, die sich durch die Konzentration der Macht in den Händen der Bürokratie geltend macht, zu erkennen. Diese weitverbreitete Reaktion gegen eine allzu stark intervenierende Regierung ist die Ursache für die Niederlage der Sozialdemokratischen Parteien und deren Politik in vielen Ländern und trägt zur Schaffung eines neuen Standpunktes bei, der im klaren Gegensatz zu den vorherrschenden Gedanken des Fabian-Sozialismus und des New Deal-Liberalismus der letzten 50 Jahre steht

POR UM MODELO AGONÍSTICO DE DEMOCRACIA

Este artigo propõe uma redescrição dos princípios fundamentais da democracia de modo a abrir espaço para o conflito, a paixão e o político. Em um primeiro momento, criticam-se as versões mais propagadas da democracia deliberativa, em sua neutralização e redução do pluralismo político e abuso dos propósitos democráticos de legitimidade e racionalidade. Em seguida, analisam-se os insights de Carl Schmitt em sua compreensão do conceito do político. Finalmente, o conceito do político é apropriado de modo crítico no âmbito de uma proposta de modelo agonístico de democracia, em que se deve renunciar à naturalização das fronteiras da democracia e dos embates entre seus atores – os que eram tidos como inimigos, no interior de uma sociedade democrática, devem assumir o papel de adversários que compartilham um conjunto de valores e princípios ético-políticos, cuja interpretação está em disputa
