Projections for Neutral Di-Boson and Di-Higgs Interactions at FCC-he Collider

As a high energy e-p collider, FCC-he, has been recently proposed with sufficient energy options to investigate Higgs couplings. To analyse the sensitivity on the Higgs boson couplings, we focus spesifically on the CP-even and CP-odd Wilson coefficients with hhZZhhZZ\:and hhγγhh\gamma\gamma\: four-point interactions of Higgs boson with Effective Lagrangian Model through the process ephhjee^{-}p\to hhje^{-} . We simulate the related processes in FCC-he, with 60 GeV and 120 GeV ee^{-} beams and 50 TeV proton beam collisions. We present the exclusion limits on these couplings both for 68% and 95% C.L. in terms of integrated luminosities.Comment: 18 pages, 20 figures, 3 table

Image Description Using a Multiplier-Less Operator

    Get PDF
Cataloged from PDF version of article.A fast algorithm for image classification based on a computationally efficient operator forming a semigroup on real numbers is developed. The new operator does not require any multiplications. The co-difference matrix based on the new operator is defined and an image descriptor using the co-difference matrix is developed. In the proposed method, the multiplication operation of the well-known covariance method is replaced by the new operator. The proposed method is experimentally compared with the regular covariance matrix method. The proposed descriptor performs as well as the the regular covariance method without performing any multiplications. Texture recognition and licence plate identification examples are presented

The Effect of Burnout on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour: The Mediating Role of Job Satisfaction

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of burnout on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in a mediating model in which the job satisfaction was contextual state.  Data were obtained from 257 nurses from three university hospitals. While the data involving burnout and job satisfaction were gathered from the nurses, OCB data were obtained from supervisors. The findings of hierarchical regression analysis demonstrated that the only contributor burnout dimension on OCB-O (ODB toward organization) was the reduced personal accomplishment while emotional exhaustion and depersonalization had no effect. Also the findings of mediation analysis showed that job satisfaction is a mediator in the relation between reduced personal accomplishment and OCB-O and it is not a mediating factor in relation between all three burnout dimensions and OCB-I (OCB toward individuals)

An augmented lagrangian method for sparse SAR imaging

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present a solution to the constrained l1-norm minimization problem for sparse SAR imaging. The technique we present relies on recent advances in the solution of optimization problems, based on Augmented Lagrangian Methods (ALMs), namely the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers. Here, we present an application of C-SALSA (an ALM for constrained optimization problems) to SAR imaging, and introduce a new weighting scheme to improve the sparsity of the reconstructions. We then compare the performances of several techniques to understand the effectiveness of ALMs in the context of SAR imaging

Proposal: Architectural design companies increasingly recognize that time spent on management is not at the expense of their production and there are always better ways to organize business. Although architects have long placed a traditional emphasis on quality, quality management is still a new concept for the majority of architectural design companies, which have to organize relatively more complicated operations nowadays to meet their clients’ expectations. This study aims to understand how architectural design companies define quality and explores the extent to which Total Quality Management (TQM) principles like continual improvement, employee involvement, customer satisfaction and others can be pertinent in these companies. Adopting a qualitative research strategy, the authors interviewed with the owner-managers of 10 widely-recognized architectural design companies of different size in Istanbul. The results from the content analysis of semi-structured interview data suggest that i) TQM principles cannot be directly applied in architectural design companies without an appropriate translation; ii) special characteristics of design services are important to explain quality-related perceptions of owner-managers; iii) the owner-managers feel the pressure from the changing internal and external environmental conditions, however few of them adopt a systematic and documented approach to quality management. Architectural design offices which aim to establish a quality management system can benefit from this study to understand potential problem areas on their road.

Assessment of Liquefaction-Induced Foundation Soil Deformations

Although there exist some consensus regarding seismic soil liquefaction triggering assessment of free field soil sites, estimating the liquefaction triggering potential beneath building foundations still stays as a controversial and a difficult issue. Assessing liquefaction triggering potential under building foundations requires the estimation of cyclic and static stress state of the soil medium. In the recent studies (e.g. Unutmaz 2008), the cyclic stress ratio corrected for Kα and Kσ effects under and adjacent to building foundations subjected to cyclic loading are to be estimated with the help of a series of 2-D and 3-D numerical simulations for different generic cases. A representative and a maximum cyclic stress ratio terms of the soil-structure-earthquake interaction system, denoted as CSRSSEI,rep and CSRSSEI,max respectively was defined as a function of i) ratio of the pre-earthquake fundamental period of the structure and soil (σ), ii) free field spectral acceleration at the fixed-base period of the structure(SA), iii) the peak ground acceleration of the free field soil sites (PGA), and iv) aspect ratio of the structure (h/B). In this paper, the results of the previously mentioned numerical findings have been verified by using case histories documented after 1999 Kocaeli Earthquake, where significant foundation displacements were observed due to liquefaction of the underlying foundation soils. The foundation soil profiles of these case histories generally consist of silty soils, sand-silt mixtures and silt-clay mixtures. Overburden and procedure corrected SPT-N values vary in the range of 2 to 5 blows/30 cm in the upper 5 meters and gradually increases up to a maximum value of 25 blows/30 cm beyond depths of 5 to 8 m’s. Overlying structures are mainly 3 to 4 storey, residential buildings with no basements. As the concluding remark, the proposed simplified procedures are shown to predict cyclically-induced foundation settlements accurately within an accuracy factor of two (i.e.: predictions fall within 1:2 and 2:1 limits of the measured settlements)

Search for axions in streaming dark matter

A new search strategy for the detection of the elusive dark matter (DM) axion is proposed. The idea is based on streaming DM axions, whose flux might get temporally enormously enhanced due to gravitational lensing. This can happen if the Sun or some planet (including the Moon) is found along the direction of a DM stream propagating towards the Earth location. The experimental requirements to the axion haloscope are a wide-band performance combined with a fast axion rest mass scanning mode, which are feasible. Once both conditions have been implemented in a haloscope, the axion search can continue parasitically almost as before. Interestingly, some new DM axion detectors are operating wide-band by default. In order not to miss the actually unpredictable timing of a potential short duration signal, a network of co-ordinated axion antennae is required, preferentially distributed world-wide. The reasoning presented here for the axions applies to some degree also to any other DM candidates like the WIMPs.Comment: 5 page

Subband domain coding of binary textual images for document archiving

    Get PDF
Cataloged from PDF version of article. In this work, a subband domain textual image compression method is developed. The document image is first decomposed into subimages using binary subband decompositions. Next, the character locations in the subbands and the symbol library consisting of the character images are encoded. The method is suitable for keyword search in the compressed data. It is observed that very high compression ratios are obtained with this method. Simulation studies are presented
