The exile to Siberia was one of the most severe punishment in the Russian Empire’s penal law. Sentenced Poles had to journey thousands kilometers heading East. Besides convicted men, Polish women were exiled as well because of their political activities or personal decision. Indeed, some of Polish women decided to go to Siberia in order to accompany their sentenced husbands or relatives. The history of Polish exiles has not sufficiently been elaborated in historiography. Journey to exile with children is one of the most significant issue in “feminine journeys” topic. Women had to cope with many problems while their journey to Siberia. Among the identified problems were: food’s difficulties, illness, bad living conditions as well as bad attitude of Russian officials. The aim of this article is to describe the conditions of women’s journeys to Siberia. It is focused of their motivation and dedication. Their devotions and often commitments often saved the life of their babies and families

The work discusses the methodology of designing finite impulse response differential filters. The filters require combining a difference quotient term of a proper order with a low-pass correction term responsible for the correction of the difference quotient term characteristic and elimination of measurement and quantization noise. The filters well approximate the characteristic of ideal differentiating elements in the low frequency range. All calculations were executed in “Mathematica”.Práce popisuje metodologii návrhu číslicových filtrů s konečnou odezvou pro derivaci. Filtry požadují propojení rozdílového členu vlastního řádu s dolnopropustným korekčním členem plnící funkci eliminace měřicího a kvantizačního šumu. Filtry dobře aproximují charakteristiku ideálního diferenčního členu v nízkofrekvenčním rozsahu.Všechny výpočty byly provedeny v programu “Mathematica”

Living with the Past in Modern Sudanese Village. Traditional Pottery Production in the Ad-Dabba Bend of the Nile

The article presents the results of ethnographic research aimed at recording household economic behaviours within rural communities in the Ad-Dabba Bend of the Nile. The field research conducted in 2015–2019 provided first-hand insight into patterns of the gendered village’s ceramic production. The only currently operating household workshops in the area, located in Jabarūna and Rūmī Bakrī, are both run by women who produce mainly vessels for storing and cooling water and incense burners. Local residents remember many other similar workshops run by both women and men, which operated quite recently. The potteries in Ad-Dabba, representing a bigger and better organised workshop industry, are run by male descendants of immigrants from Nigeria, known in Sudan as Takarna. The pottery making is their only source of income and the range of forms they make is varied. The article presents the results of ethnographic research aimed at recording household economic behaviours within rural communities in the Ad-Dabba Bend of the Nile. The aim of the current study is to discuss the mathematical knowledge changing process in future Math teachers. Based on the theoretical framework provided by the culturalhistorical approach of Psychology and, mainly, of the Activity Theory, the study highlights the mathematical knowledge of teachers from the movement that inserts them in the educational activity. The formative experiment was herein used asmethodological procedure. The experiment was set and developed with Mathematics pre-service teachers from a Brazilian public university, throughout a school year. The results indicate the need of organizing the teachers’ education process as a way to allow teachers to experience the teaching activity, as well as to reason about it and to becomeaware of their actions in order to overcome the humans’ alienation from themselves. Thus, we believe in the possibility of having a transformation process through the teaching activity in Math teachers. Therefore, it is possible to change their mathematical knowledge

The Polish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth expresses last farewell to Ryszard Mężyk, a colleague and former longtime Treasurer. His cooperation with the Polish Society of Telemedicine and e-Health (formerly the Polish Telemedicine Society), a national member of ISfTeH - International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth, started in 2006. He was a modest and noble person and very valuable and devoted to promoting telemedicine, eHealth, and digital health in his region and throughout Poland. After joining the Association in 2010, he was twice elected and served as the Association's Treasurer. He was honoured successively with the Bronze, Silver, and Gold "Bene Meritus" Badge of the Polish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth. Despite having retired on November 1, 2018, he was still an active member of the Association.&nbsp

Use of the Wilshire Equations to Correlate and Extrapolate Creep Data of HR6W and Sanicro 25

Advanced power plant alloys must endure high temperatures and pressures for durations at which creep data are often not available, necessitating the extrapolation of creep life. Many methods have been proposed to extrapolate creep life, and one of recent significance is a set of equations known as the Wilshire equations. With this method, multiple approaches can be used to determine creep activation energy, increase the goodness of fit of available experimental data, and improve the confidence level of calculating long-term creep strength at times well beyond the available experimental data. In this article, the Wilshire equation is used to extrapolate the creep life of HR6W and Sanicro 25, and different methods to determine creep activation energy, region splitting, the use of short-duration test data, and the omission of very-short-term data are investigated to determine their effect on correlation and calculations. It was found that using a known value of the activation energy of lattice self-diffusion, rather than calculating QC* role= presentation \u3eQ∗C from each data set, is both the simplest and most viable method to determine QC* role= presentation \u3eQ∗C . Region-splitting improved rupture time calculations for both alloys. Extrapolating creep life from short-term data for these alloys was found to be reasonable

Advanced power plant alloys must endure high temperatures and pressures for durations at which creep data are often not available, necessitating the extrapolation of creep life. A recently developed creep life extrapolation method is the Wilshire equations, with which multiple approaches can be used to increase the goodness of fit of available experimental data and improve the confidence level of calculating long-term creep strength at times well beyond the available experimental data. In this article, the Wilshire equation is used to extrapolate the creep life of Inconel 617 and Nimonic 105 to 100,000 h. The use of (a) different methods to determine creep activation energy, (b) region splitting, (c) heat- and processing-specific tensile strength data, and (d) short-duration test data were investigated to determine their effects on correlation and extrapolation. For Inconel 617, using the activation energy of lattice self-diffusion as Q∗C resulted in a poor fit with the experimental data. Additionally, the error of calculated rupture times worsened when splitting regions. For Nimonic 105, the error was reduced when heat- and processing-specific tensile strengths were used. Extrapolating Inconel 617 creep strength to 100,000 h life gave conservative results when compared to values calculated by the European Creep Collaborative Committee
