Anthropogenic-Induced Changes to Weather and Climate: An Overview

Human activities, since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, have caused measurable and significant changes to local and regional weather and climate, as well as to global climate. There is substantial evidence to show that anthropogenic influences have caused statistically significant changes to local and regional weather and climate, and have played a major role in the 0.6°C increase in global, low level temperature observed in the last 100 years. There is also an abundance of data that establishes a causal relationship between the 32% increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration that has occurred since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, and the observed temperature increase. Recent studies indicate plant and animal migrations toward higher latitudes, longer growing seasons, worldwide retreat of mountain glaciers, and decreases in sea-ice, all in response to the observed increase in global temperature. There is additional evidence from Project METROMEX, that was conducted in the Saint Louis, Missouri region during the summer months of 1971-1975. The study, designed to determine whether urbanization plays a role in local, inadvertent weather modification, demonstrated that temperature, precipitation, and wind flow patterns were significantly altered by the presence of this urban region. Four additional studies will be included that corroborate these findings

Óxido nítrico em plantas: breve abordagem sobre essa molécula multifuncional

Diversos estudos vêm sendo realizados com a finalidade de aumentar o conhecimento sobre a ocorrência e a atividade do óxido nítrico (ON) nas plantas. Nesse sentido, a presente revisão objetivou abordar alguns aspectos referentes ao ON nas plantas, tais como propriedades químicas, vias de síntese, efeitos fisiológicos, ação antioxidante, transdução do sinal, interação com hormônios vegetais e expressão gênica. Nos últimos anos, muitos avanços têm sido obtidos em relação à síntese de ON e seus efeitos fisiológicos nas plantas. Porém, os mecanismos moleculares que fundamentam seus efeitos permanecem pouco compreendidos. É sinalizada uma investigação em detalhes sobre as estreitas interações entre ON, Ca2+, ADP-ribose cíclica (cADPR) e proteínas quinases. Além disso, ainda não foi possível identificar uma enzima vegetal que apresente atividade semelhante à da óxido nítrico sintase (NOS). A elucidação de tais aspectos representa um desafio para futuros trabalhos.Several studies were carried out in order to improve the knowledge about the occurrence and activity of nitric oxide (NO) in plants. Thus, this review discusses some aspects related to NO in plants such as chemical properties, synthesis pathways, physiological effects, antioxidant action, signal transduction, interaction with plant hormones and gene expression. In the last years, many advances have been obtained regarding NO synthesis and its physiological effects in plants. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its effects remain poorly understood. It is signalized that tight interplays among NO, Ca2+, cyclic ADP ribose (cADPR), and protein kinases need to be investigated in details. In addition, it has not yet been possible to identify a plant enzyme displaying a nitric oxide synthase (NOS)-like activity. The elucidation of such aspects represents a challenge to future studies

Cluster abundance in chameleon f(R) gravity I: toward an accurate halo mass function prediction

We refine the mass and environment dependent spherical collapse model of chameleon f(R) gravity by calibrating a phenomenological correction inspired by the parameterized post-Friedmann framework against high-resolution N-body simulations. We employ our method to predict the corresponding modified halo mass function, and provide fitting formulas to calculate the enhancement of the f(R) halo abundance with respect to that of General Relativity (GR) within a precision of lesssim 5% from the results obtained in the simulations. Similar accuracy can be achieved for the full f(R) mass function on the condition that the modeling of the reference GR abundance of halos is accurate at the percent level. We use our fits to forecast constraints on the additional scalar degree of freedom of the theory, finding that upper bounds competitive with current Solar System tests are within reach of cluster number count analyses from ongoing and upcoming surveys at much larger scales. Importantly, the flexibility of our method allows also for this to be applied to other scalar-tensor theories characterized by a mass and environment dependent spherical collapse

Este trabalho aborda a questão da canção como fonte histórica e seu uso no ensino de História do Brasil. Para atingir esse objetivo,são analisadas algumas canções buscando relacioná-las com os períodos históricos que marcam a República Brasileira no século XX

Judicialização da saúde no campo da atenção domiciliar

Serviço Social.O trabalho tem como tema a judicialização da saúde no campo da atenção domiciliar que se constitui como extensão da internação hospitalar. A pesquisa bibliográfica identificou elementos sobre a origem dos processos de judicialização da saúde pública no Brasil tratado-a como um fenômeno social e analisa a judicialização na atenção domiciliar, levando em consideração a responsabilização da família pelos cuidados com o usuário sem a assistência adequada do Estado, considerando os impactos e implicações desse processo. Os resultados da pesquisa indicaram o processo de judicialização como um fenômeno crescente e gradativo, sendo justificado, pelo Estado, em função da sua deficiência em atender todos que necessitam de internação hospitalar, por falta de verbas e infraestrutura. No campo da internação domiciliar o Estado se isenta da efetivação do direito do usuário com os cuidados de saúde, com o cuidador - sobrecarregando uma pessoa predominantemente feminina e sem habilidades técnicas para os cuidados - e a família pela responsabilidade do tratamento de saúde do paciente, com os custos financeiros e emocionais. A desresponsabilização do Estado com a saúde por meio de terceirizações de serviços públicos e das internações domiciliares tem se configurado em nova perspectiva da saúde brasileira

A responsabilidade civil dos genitores divorciados pelos danos causados por filhos incapazes

Trabalho de conclusão de curso, apresentado para obtenção do grau de Bacharel no Curso de Direito da Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense, UNESC.O presente trabalho monográfico possui como objetivo pesquisar, por meio do método dedutivo, em pesquisa teórica e qualitativa, com a utilização de material bibliográfico, documental legal e jurisprudencial, a responsabilidade civil dos genitores divorciados pelos danos causados por filhos incapazes, considerando-se as premissas fundamentais dos institutos da responsabilidade civil e do poder familiar. Para tanto, tratou-se no primeiro capítulo sobre a responsabilidade civil, através da análise histórica e conceitual do instituto, bem como suas modalidades e derivações. No segundo capítulo, passou-se à análise da evolução e exercício do poder familiar, do ponto de vista conceitual e prático, bem como verificou-se as incapacidades civis previstas na atual legislação brasileira, com enfoque especial às incapacidades por idade, uma vez que o presente trabalho limita-se aos incapazes sob o poder familiar, quais sejam, os menores de idade. Por fim, no terceiro capítulo, restaram analisadas as situações encontradas e soluções possíveis a partir dos diferentes posicionamentos acerca da responsabilidade civil em conjunto com o poder familiar, bem como realizadas maiores conceituações acerca da específica responsabilidade dos pais pelo filho menor, além do instituto da guarda dentro do poder familiar. Tal análise deu-se a partir de decisões e entendimentos doutrinários publicados entre os anos de 2006 a 2016. Concluiu-se, em síntese, que a responsabilidade civil pelos danos causados por filhos incapazes, em corrente dominante, deva recair sobre ambos os genitores, mesmo após a dissolução da sociedade conjugal, em virtude dos direitos e deveres inerentes ao poder familiar e aos objetivos primordiais do instituto da responsabilidade civil

Urbanização e gestão do litoral centro-sul do estado de Santa Catarina

Thirty six municipalities form the littoral of Santa Catarina State. These municipalities are divided in five sectors: north, center-north, center, center–south and south. Six municipalities belong to the center-south littoral and in this sector is located the bigger coastal lagoon chain of the State. Laguna is the faster growing municipality in this region and has the highest number of inhabitants. The rapid and non-organized urbanization of this area has been causing remarkable environmental impacts such as water pollution, sand dune erosion, loss of coastal vegetation and biodiversity. Activities such as prawn farms, agriculture, tourism and urbanization are the most impacting activities. For a sustainable development of the region some actions should be taken, such as: sewage treatment, urban planning,aquiculture zoning, coastal ecosystems preservation, development and implementation of management plan for conservation areas, environmental laws enforcement
