Transnational encounters : crossing borders in Galician translation and interpreting studies

Exploring the ways in which languages and cultures interact across borders becomes particularly relevant in our increasingly interconnected world, as it ultimately enables an in depth understanding of how societies influence each other. Translation and interpreting, as mediating forces in transnational encounters, offer critical insights into this continuous crosscultural dialogue and negotiation. Of special interest for the Galician context, research into translation and interpreting —especially after the so-called cultural turn in the discipline— has often exposed asymmetrical power relations between languages and cultures and put forward alternatives to challenge them. Indeed, this has been one of the recurrent tropes in Galician Translation and Interpreting Studies scholarship since the 1990s

La mirada latina sobre la psicología positiva

El siguiente trabajo intenta mostrar el avance que presenta Latinoamérica en cuanto al estudio y aplicación de temáticas relacionadas con la Psicología Positiva (PP). Por un lado, se pretendió describir cómo ha surgido el interés en PP en algunos países de Latinoamérica como Argentina, Perú, México, entre otros. Por otro lado, se analizaron los resultados de un rastrillaje realizado en el cual verifica el cúmulo de trabajos y pruebas psicológicas desarrolladas en la región, principalmente teniendo en cuenta los pilares de la PP propuestos por Seligman (2002, 2009): las emociones positivas, los rasgos positivos, las instituciones positivas y los vínculos positivos (la vida social). México, Chile, Brasil y Argentina, parecen ser los países con mayor productividad. Las temáticas frecuentemente estudiadas están en relación con el bienestar psicológico, las relaciones interpersonales y las intervenciones psicoterapéuticas. Palabras clave: Psicología positiva, pilares, evaluación, Latinoamérica.The present article aims to describe the progress of the study and application of Positive Psychology (PP) in Latin America. On one hand, it is described how the interest in PP has emerged in some Latin American countries such as Argentina, Peru and Mexico, among others. On the other hand, results of a literature review which explore the development of psychological assessments in the region are presented according to PP pillars proposed by Seligman (2002, 2009): positive emotions, positive traits, positive institutions and positive relationships (social life). Evaluation of Cross-Border Leakages in Community Support Frameworks. The case of Andalusia (Spain).

The enlargement of the European Union to 25 members implies that relative position of Andalusia will improve with regard to the new GDP per capita average. This fact may derive a reduction in structural funds support for this Spanish region objective 1. This paper is focused in the ex-post assessment of the CSF 1994–99 in Andalusia. Direct and indirect effects, as well as cross-border leakage are analysed. We aim to compare stimuli induced from structural funds in the rest of the national economy with those remaining in Andalusia. If effects on the rest of Spain were important in relative terms, the central idea of regional policy, which defines community convergence tools, would be questioned. Results show evidences for this hypothesis in the case of Andalusia, given the importance of the effects generated in the rest of Spain and the biases of CSF funds towards sectors with a high need for imports, some of which are characterized by an intensive use of the region’s natural resources. Íntimo e político – usos do bordado e to têxtil na arte contemporânea portuguesa

This text aims to address the work of Portuguese artists whose use of embroidery and textile confers an experimental dimension to traditional techniques, interrogates established cultural frameworks, and explores intimate autobiographical practices and feminist positions. In some cases, their mastery of technique is undeniable, while others manifest a preference for poetical forms of deskilling or appropriation. The essay not only covers artists drawn from the worlds of painting, sculpture, and jewellery, and who belong to various generations, although they all produce, but also discusses examples in which embroidery is used as a form of homage by those who count themselves as admirers. In this way, we hope to enlarge the geographical and cultural universe typically covered in the literature.En este artículo se propone un abordaje de artistas portugueses cuyo uso del bordado y el textil introduce una dimensión experimental en las técnicas tradicionales, interroga marcos culturales establecidos y explora prácticas íntimas de sentido autobiográfico y posiciones feministas. En algunos, el dominio técnico es innegable, en otros, se manifiesta la preferencia por un registro deskilling de cariz poético o por la apropiación. Más allá de los artistas oriundos de la pintura, de la escultura o de la joyería, de diferentes generaciones, pero todos con producción contemporánea, el artículo cubre también propuestas en las que el bordado desempeña la función de homenaje, por parte de admiradores. De este modo se busca ampliar el universo geográfico y cultural habitualmente cubierto por la bibliografía.Neste artigo se propõe-se uma abordagem de artistas portugueses nos quais o uso do bordado e do têxtil introduz uma dimensão experimental das técnicas tradicionais, e interroga os marcos culturais estabelecidos. Nele são exploradas práticas íntimas de sentido autobiográfico e de posições feministas. Alguns revelam um domínio técnico inegável, outros preferem o deskilling de caráter poético ou a apropriação. Além dos artistas da pintura, da escultura ou da joalharia, e de diferentes gerações, mas com trabalho contemporâneo, o artigo trata pro-postas de amadores que utilizam o bordado com a função de homenagem. Relaciones bilaterales entre Egipto e Israel y su influencia en la transformación ideológica de la Hermandad Musulmana durante el gobierno de Anwar al-Sadat

Desde la creación de la Hermandad Musulmana en 1928 la organización se convirtió en un estandarte de la oposición a la laicidad del gobierno egipcio y la legitimización del islam como ideología política no solo dentro de la sociedad egipcia, sino a nivel regional. Convirtiéndose en un punto de referencia para otros grupos de corte fundamentalistas que tomarán como influencia las consignas del fundador de la Hermandad, Hasan al-Banna. Así pues, con el fin de comprender el desarrollo y las transformaciones ideológicas de la Hermandad este trabajo pretende establecer la influencia que tuvieron las relaciones bilaterales entre Egipto e Israel en dicho proceso entre 1970 -1981.Since the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood in 1928 the organization became a banner of opposition to the secularism of the Egyptian government and the legitimization of Islam as a political ideology not only within Egyptian society but at the regional level. Becoming a point of reference for other fundamentalist groups that will take as influences the slogans of the founder of the Brotherhood, Hasan al-Banna. Thus, in order to understand the development and ideological transformations of the Brotherhood, this work intends to establish the influence of the bilateral relations between Egypt and Israel in this process between 1970 and 1981
