EVASPA (EVapotranspiration Assessment from SPAce) Tool: An overview

    Get PDF
AbstractEvapotranspiration (ET) is a fundamental variable of the hydrological cycle and its estimation is required for irrigation management, water resources planning and environmental studies. Remote sensing provides spatially distributed cost-effective information for ET maps production at regional scale. We have developed EVASPA too for mapping ET from remote sensing data at spatial and temporal scales relevant to hydrological or agronomica studies.EVASPA includes several algorithms for estimating evapotranspiration and various equations for estimating the required input information (net radiation, ground heat flux, evaporative fraction…), which provides a way to assess uncertainties in the derivation of ET. The tool integrates data from various remote sensing sensors and it can be easily adapted to new sensors. To test the tool, evapotranspiration maps have been produced for the Crau-Camargue pilot site (south-eastern France), where several energy balance stations deployed in contrasted areas provide ground measurements. An overall description of the tool and first results of performance asse sment (comparison to ground data) are presented here

By having this knowledge, it was decided to present various projects that could be useful and selfsustainable during the time for the Asentamiento Humano Torres de San Borja’s settlers. During the selection process, we chose the corniculture project because we saw that it would be accesible for us in order our capacities. Then, after we got the “Gestión Estratégica de la Responsabilidad Social” class’s learning we decided to launch this project. Before we started to interact with the locals, we decided to get some necessary information for explain what we need from them to make this happen. After that, we looked for families that were interested to participate in this project. We found a lot of interested families, however we decided to apply a filter to execute this plan in the best way. Then, we made sessions to train the families and where it showed what they needed to raise this birds. Finally, we gave them forty two birds and four cages to the selected families. Also, they signed a contract in which they compromised to take care of this animals and give all the energy necessary to made this project became reality

IgG Anti-ghrelin Immune Complexes Are Increased in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Under Biologic Therapy and Are Related to Clinical and Metabolic Markers

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease and metabolic alterations. The mechanisms underlying these alterations remain unclear. Ghrelin is a gastrointestinal hormone with potent effects on food intake, body weight, metabolism, and immune response. Recent studies reported the presence of anti-ghrelin autoantibodies in healthy subjects and the levels and affinity of these autoantibodies were altered in anorectic and obese individuals. In this cross-sectional study we analyzed anti-ghrelin autoantibodies in RA patients and evaluated its relationship with clinical, body-composition and metabolic parameters. Clinical measurements of RA patients included the disease activity score-28 (DAS-28), inflammatory biomarkers, autoantibodies (RF and anti-CCP), body composition, glucose and lipid profile. Serum ghrelin levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Free and total anti-ghrelin autoantibodies quantification (IgG and IgA isotypes) was performed by in-house ELISA. RA patients had lower IgG anti-ghrelin autoantibodies levels and higher immune complexes percentage (IgG+ghrelin) compared to the control group, while the IgA anti-ghrelin autoantibodies showed no significant differences. In the bivariate analysis, the percentage of IgG anti-ghrelin immune complexes positively correlated with BMI and ghrelin whereas in the multivariate regression model, the variables associated were DAS-28, body weight, visceral fat, LDL-C and TG (R2 = 0.72). The percentage of IgA anti-ghrelin immune complexes positively correlated with RF and anti-CCP and the multivariate regression model showed an association with RF and body fat percentage (R2 = 0.22). Our study shows an increased percentage of IgG anti-ghrelin immune complexes in RA patients despite ghrelin levels were similar in both groups, suggesting an increase in the affinity of these autoantibodies toward ghrelin. The associations found in the multiple regression analysis for anti-ghrelin immune complexes support the previously reported functions of these natural autoantibodies as carriers and modulators of the stability and physiological effect of the hormone. However, in RA both the disease activity and the RF appear to influence the formation of these anti-ghrelin immune complexes

Measurement of the gluon fragmentation function and a comparison of the scaling violation in gluon and quarks jets

    Get PDF
The fragmentation functions of quarks and gluons are measured in various three-jet topologies in Z decays from the full data set collected with the Delphi detector at the Z resonance between 1992 and 1995. The results at different values of transverse momentum-like scales are compared. A parameterization of the quark and gluon fragmentation functions at a fixed reference scale is given. The quark and gluon fragmentation functions show the predicted pattern of scaling violations. The scaling violation for quark jets as a function of a transverse momentum-like scale is in a good agreement with that observed in lower energy e+e− annihilation experiments. For gluon jets it appears to be significantly stronger. The scale dependences of the gluon and quark fragmentation functions agree with the prediction of the DGLAP evolution equations from which the colour factor ratio CA/CF is measured to be: CACF=2.26±0.09stat.±0.06sys.±0.12clus.,scale

Search for composite and exotic fermions at LEP2

A search for unstable heavy fermions with the DELPHI detector at LEP is reported. Sequential and non-canonical leptons, as well as excited leptons and quarks, are considered. The data analysed correspond to an integrated luminosity of about 48 pb^{-1} at an e^+e^- centre-of-mass energy of 183 GeV and about 20 pb^{-1} equally shared between the centre-of-mass energies of 172 GeV and 161 GeV. The search for pair-produced new leptons establishes 95% confidence level mass limits in the region between 70 GeV/c^2 and 90 GeV/c^2, depending on the channel. The search for singly produced excited leptons and quarks establishes upper limits on the ratio of the coupling of the excited fermion

Search for promptly produced heavy quarkonium states in hadronic Z decays

    Get PDF
A search has been made for direct production of heavy quarkonium states in more than 3 million hadronicZ 0 decays in the 1991¿1994 DELPHI data. PromptJ/ψ, ψ(2S) andΓ candidates have been searched for through their leptonic decay modes using criteria based on the kinematics and decay vertex positions. New upper limits are set at the 90% confidence level forBr(Z 0→(Qq)X)/Br(Z 0→ hadrons) for various strong production mechanisms ofJ/ψ andΓ; these range down to 0.9×10−4. The limits are set in the presence of a small excess (∼1% statistical probability of a background fluctuation) in the sum of candidates from promptJ/ψ, ψ(2S),γ(1S),γ(2S) andγ(3S) relative to the estimated background
