Casimir interaction at liquid nitrogen temperature: Comparison between experiment and theory

    Get PDF
We have measured the normalized gradient of the Casimir force between Au-coated surfaces of the sphere and the plate and equivalent Casimir pressure between two parallel Au plates at T=77K. These measurements have been performed by means of dynamic force microscope adapted for operating at low temperatures in the frequency shift technique. It was shown that the measurement results at T=77K are in a very good agreement with those at T=300K and with computations at T=77K using both theoretical approaches to the thermal Casimir force proposed in the literature. No thermal effect in the Casimir pressure was observed in the limit of experimental errors with the increase of temperature from T=77K to T=300K. Taking this into account, we have discussed the possible role of patch potentials in the comparison between measured and calculated Casimir pressures.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures, to appear in Phys.

Abstract. This article presents the content validity, concordance, relevance and reliability test of Cronbach Alpha for Model Malcolm Baldrige. The objective of this model is to improve the competitiveness between companies and United States business. And although still reach only in this country, the model can be applied in Mexican organizations as a tool. A structural equation model (SEM) is presented with the main constructs Malcome Baldrige model: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce focus, Process Management and results. Especially with the objective to evaluate the statistical significance between the constructs: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce focus and process management with the construct results. Which cronbach alphas indices vary between 0.6336 and 0.9048.

On computational aspects of discrete Sobolev inner products on the unit circle

    Get PDF
In this paper, we show how to compute in O(n² )steps the Fourier coefficients associated with the Gelfand-Levitan approach for discrete Sobolev orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle when the support of the discrete component involving derivatives is located outside the closed unit disk. As a consequence, we deduce the outer relative asymptotics of these polynomials in terms of those associated with the original orthogonality measure. Moreover, we show how to recover the discrete part of our Sobolev inner product. The research of K. Methodology for Developing a Probabilistic Risk Assessment Model of Spacecraft Rendezvous and Dockings

    Get PDF
In 2007 NASA was preparing to send two new visiting vehicles carrying logistics and propellant to the International Space Station (ISS). These new vehicles were the European Space Agency s (ESA) Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV), the Jules Verne, and the Japanese Aerospace and Explorations Agency s (JAXA) H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV). The ISS Program wanted to quantify the increased risk to the ISS from these visiting vehicles. At the time, only the Shuttle, the Soyuz, and the Progress vehicles rendezvoused and docked to the ISS. The increased risk to the ISS was from an increase in vehicle traffic, thereby, increasing the potential catastrophic collision during the rendezvous and the docking or berthing of the spacecraft to the ISS. A universal method of evaluating the risk of rendezvous and docking or berthing was created by the ISS s Risk Team to accommodate the increasing number of rendezvous and docking or berthing operations due to the increasing number of different spacecraft, as well as the future arrival of commercial spacecraft. Before the first docking attempt of ESA's ATV and JAXA's HTV to the ISS, a probabilistic risk model was developed to quantitatively calculate the risk of collision of each spacecraft with the ISS. The 5 rendezvous and docking risk models (Soyuz, Progress, Shuttle, ATV, and HTV) have been used to build and refine the modeling methodology for rendezvous and docking of spacecrafts. This risk modeling methodology will be NASA s basis for evaluating the addition of future ISS visiting spacecrafts hazards, including SpaceX s Dragon, Orbital Science s Cygnus, and NASA s own Orion spacecraft. This paper will describe the methodology used for developing a visiting vehicle risk model
