A hybrid legged-wheeled obstacle avoidance strategy for service operations
Hybrid legged-wheeled robots are gaining interest in various service applications, like surveillance or inspection in hospitals. The autonomy of these robots is not only related to their power consumption, it mostly refers to their capability to safely move in complex partially structured environments. This paper proposes to investigate the combination of different moving strategies and sensors to enhance the adaptability and autonomy of a hybrid hexapod robot in specific environments shared with humans. Namely, this paper proposes a locomotion strategy that combines leg motions and Mecanum omniwheels with multiple sensory feedbacks to achieve safe obstacle avoidance during a service operation. Several experimental tests are carried out by using Cassino Hexapod III in combination with sonar, IMU and Lidar sensors at IRCCS Neuromed site in Pozzilli. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed operation strategy with Cassino Hexapod III to avoid multiple obstacles
Anthropometric profile and physical fitness in the youth divisions of a Colombian professional soccer team
The objective of this study is to describe the physical fitness of soccer players in
the youth divisions of Tigres FC, using the EuroFit Battery during the period 2021-2 and
2022-1. The participants selected for the sample were 101 men between 18 and 22 years of
age. They underwent anthropometric measurements, body composition measurements by
means of a bioimpedance device and the evaluation of physical fitness by means of the
EUROFIT battery. In the analysis of variables, measures of central tendency and dispersion were obtained for quantitative measures; proportions and frequencies were obtained for
qualitative variables. All descriptive data obtained were tabulated and coded by means of the
SPSS Statistics version 26 program. As relevant results, an anthropometric profile with a
decrease in body fat and metabolic rate was evidenced, taking into account that they are high performance athletes. In addition, in the evaluation of ApF, a decrease in flexibility was
found, being a risk factor for tears in the hamstring muscles. Finally, in the variable
abdominal strength, power and lower limb strength, a muscular imbalance between trunk
flexors and lower limb adductors was determined, predisposing the athlete to suffer from
dynamic osteopathy of the pubis.FisioterapiaFisioterapeut
Out-of-pocket health expenditures in Colombia: a systematic review
Objectives
To review the evidence of out-of-pocket (OOPE) and catastrophic expenditures (CHE) in health in Colombia.
Methods
Systematic review of the literature (SLR). Searches were performed in PubMed, Scopus, Scielo and Google Scholar. We used the MESH terms: out-of-pocket, catastrophic health expenditure, health and Colombia. We included cost description or cost analysis studies. Cost-effectiveness analysis of health technologies and qualitative studies were excluded. Data about period of analysis, type of study, costing perspective, OOPE, and CHE were extracted. Studies were classified as macroeconomic, microeconomic, and diseases analysis. All costs were indexed to 2018 and reported in Colombian pesos (COP)
Epidemiology of dengue fever in Guatemala
Dengue fever occurs worldwide and about 1% of cases progress to severe haemorrhage and shock. Dengue is endemic in Guatemala and its surveillance system could document long term trends. We analysed 17 years of country-wide dengue surveillance data in Guatemala to describe epidemiological trends from 2000 to 2016.Data from the national dengue surveillance database were analysed to describe dengue serotype frequency, seasonality, and outbreaks. We used Poisson regression models to compare the number of cases each year with subsequent years and to estimate incidence ratios within serotype adjusted by age and gender. 91,554 samples were tested. Dengue was confirmed by RT-qPCR, culture or NS1-ELISA in 7097 (7.8%) cases and was IgM ELISA-positive in 19,290 (21.1%) cases. DENV1, DENV2, DENV3, and DENV4 were detected in 2218 (39.5%), 2580 (45.9%), 591 (10.5%), and 230 (4.1%) cases. DENV1 and DENV2 were the predominant serotypes, but all serotypes caused epidemics. The largest outbreak occurred in 2010 with 1080 DENV2 cases reported. The incidence was higher among adults during epidemic years, with significant increases in 2005, 2007, and 2013 DENV1 outbreaks, the 2010 DENV2 and 2003 DENV3 outbreaks. Adults had a lower incidence immediately after epidemics, which is likely linked to increased immunity

Modeling the Influence of Extrapyramidal Signs on the Progression of Alzheimer's Disease
Objective: To determine how the advent of extrapyramidal signs influences the progression of Alzheimer disease as measured by standard clinical measures. Design: We applied growth curve models to prospective data to characterize patients' cognitive and functional changes over time. To detect changes in disease course related to extrapyramidal signs, their onset was treated as a time-dependent covariate. Setting: Three research medical centers. Participants: Patients (n=217) with probable Alzheimer disease. Intervention: Patients were followed up semiannually for 5 years. Main Outcome Measures: Scores on the modified Mini-Mental State Examination and measures of basic and instrumental activities of daily living from the Blessed Dementia Rating Scale. Results: For basic and instrumental activities of daily living, disease course was more rapid once extrapyramidal signs developed. Decline in the modified Mini-Mental State Examination score was greater at the time the signs developed, but not at subsequent visits. Conclusions: The point at which extrapyramidal signs emerge is associated with measurable acceleration in the progression of Alzheimer disease. This may in part explain why extrapyramidal signs are associated with a poorer prognosis. The differential influence of extrapyramidal signs on cognitive and functional measures suggests that the pathological changes underlying these disease features may vary
Design of arm exercises for rehabilitation assistance
This paper presents the design and testing of arm exercises for rehabilitation assistance. The description of the human arm is presented together with the arm motion impairments. The motion planning for four arm exercises and the experimental procedure for data collection are described. A procedure to generate reference trajectories by regression analysis is explained. The procedure is numerically validated to prove the successfully generation of a representative trajectory for a set of trajectory samples. References trajectories are generated using the proposed procedure for four arm exercises through trajectory samples acquired from 12 subjects. The obtained reference trajectories can be used for rehabilitation assisting the traditional therapies using an automatized device
