Statistical mechanics of sparse generalization and model selection
One of the crucial tasks in many inference problems is the extraction of
sparse information out of a given number of high-dimensional measurements. In
machine learning, this is frequently achieved using, as a penality term, the
norm of the model parameters, with for efficient dilution. Here
we propose a statistical-mechanics analysis of the problem in the setting of
perceptron memorization and generalization. Using a replica approach, we are
able to evaluate the relative performance of naive dilution (obtained by
learning without dilution, following by applying a threshold to the model
parameters), dilution (which is frequently used in convex optimization)
and dilution (which is optimal but computationally hard to implement).
Whereas both diluted approaches clearly outperform the naive approach, we
find a small region where works almost perfectly and strongly outperforms
the simpler to implement dilution.Comment: 18 pages, 9 eps figure
Stability of the replica symmetric solution in diluted perceptron learning
We study the role played by the dilution in the average behavior of a
perceptron model with continuous coupling with the replica method. We analyze
the stability of the replica symmetric solution as a function of the dilution
field for the generalization and memorization problems. Thanks to a Gardner
like stability analysis we show that at any fixed ratio between the
number of patterns M and the dimension N of the perceptron (),
there exists a critical dilution field above which the replica symmetric
ansatz becomes unstable.Comment: Stability of the solution in arXiv:0907.3241, 13 pages, (some typos

Calculation of carbon footprint for Capital Regional District Office of Sena
Measuring the carbon footprint is the calculation of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted directly and indirectly by an individual or an organization providing a service or production of a product . Resulting in environmental impact through the inventory of greenhouse gases associated with each step performed in the process or production activity of each individual. Initially the scope of measurement is set, then the sources of GHG emissions associated with different processes performed by the Entity followed this were identified, the corresponding data were collected to consumption of electricity and fuel. Then, the relevant methodologies to the needs of the institution, the calculation process for two years (base year and comparative year ) to compare the amounts of issuance was made , and finally , the data obtained were analyzed were selected. Variation was found in the number of tons of CO2 equivalent emitted for the comparative year, associated with increased consumption of energy and fuel, this in response to the acquisition of more used to transport officials vehicles, as well as buying more electrical equipment and increased hours of operation of the building, in order to respond to the demand for services offered by the Bank
Transforming food systems under a changing climate in Latin America: A climate policy review
Agriculture is highly vulnerable to climate change, but at the same time, it is the main contributor to climate change Governments have recognized that facing climate change is essential to address a sustainable development pathway, but so far little progress has been achieved Thus there is a need for rapid and transformative actions that tackle climate change impacts while achieving sustainable rural development Nevertheless, the way current policies are addressing actions towards transformative actions is unclear concerning sustainable pathways of food systems in the face of climate change.
In this sense, this paper reviews current climate change-related policies of Latin American countries to identify whether they address transformational actions in the agricultural sector or food systems in relation to climate change Research questions include which countries state in their policies transformative actions? Are Latin American national policies in line with their international commitments? In order to answer these questions we used different methods of text analysis applied to the policy framework of Latin American countries to assess the integration level of eight components that Campbell et al 2018 propose in the theory of change to drive the transformation of food systems under climate chang

Genetically-inspired convective heat transfer enhancement in a turbulent boundary layer
The convective heat transfer in a turbulent boundary layer (TBL) on a flat
plate is enhanced using an artificial intelligence approach based on linear
genetic algorithms control (LGAC). The actuator is a set of six slot jets in
crossflow aligned with the freestream. An open-loop optimal periodic forcing is
defined by the carrier frequency, the duty cycle and the phase difference
between actuators as control parameters. The control laws are optimised with
respect to the unperturbed TBL and to the actuation with a steady jet. The cost
function includes the wall convective heat transfer rate and the cost of the
actuation. The performance of the controller is assessed by infrared
thermography and characterised also with particle image velocimetry
measurements. The optimal controller yields a slightly asymmetric flow field.
The LGAC algorithm converges to the same frequency and duty cycle for all the
actuators. It is noted that such frequency is strikingly equal to the inverse
of the characteristic travel time of large-scale turbulent structures advected
within the near-wall region. The phase difference between multiple jet
actuation has shown to be very relevant and the main driver of flow asymmetry.
The results pinpoint the potential of machine learning control in unravelling
unexplored controllers within the actuation space. Our study furthermore
demonstrates the viability of employing sophisticated measurement techniques
together with advanced algorithms in an experimental investigation.Comment: 20 pages, 13 figure

The Central American region has a large number of young people facing low labor participation, social inequalities, and educational deficits. The Central American Agricultural Council initiated a participatory process to update rural youth policies, resulting in the launch of the SICA Regional Rural Youth Strategy 2022-2030. The Alliance played a critical role in developing the strategy, which highlighted the challenges of COVID-19 and gender differences. The Alliance also connected Rural Youth policies with Climate-Smart Agriculture, furthering the approach in the region
